This entire cooperation is an absolute SCAM. Do not book with them, do not book with their travel insurance company. Our trip was canceled DUE TO A HURRICANE DESTROYING the resort and they're refusing to return our money due to a “not within 30 days” policy. We got travel insurance to insure that our money would be refunded to us and the resort is claiming that since we got insurance they won’t return all of our money. Despite there being a safe place to travel into/ stay at, our family is out over $6,000 (half of our trip cost) by Tripmate. Soo, don’t do it. Not worth it. You’re screwed if anything happens.
To further clarify:
An email was sent out by the resort stating a full refund would be issued to the guest affected. We reached out to receive this refund and were given half, the rest of which was, yes, due to us by the insurance company. Sandals stated that if we had not gotten insurance, we would be refunded the full amount. Tripmate is only offering travel vouchers for the remaining amount. Tripmate managers stated that this was dictated by the resort who placed a timeframe on the affected guests.
We paid $16,000 for a bungalow that is no longer available at Sandals Montego Bay. We are expected to pay additional travel cost + further travel, less resort time, due to a situation out of our control, using their voucher, instead of receiving our money back for something completely out of our control.
Again- this whole thing is a scam and does not have your best interest in mind. Customer service is useless, they never call you back, refuse to let you talk to management.
