Sandos Monaco
Just returned from a week in this lovely hotel conveniently located just outside the old town and less than a 10-minute walk to Levante beach.
Food is very good, especially for meat-eaters, though there is a good variety of pastas, rice, and salad, plus a small, separate, vegetarian section.
The chairs in the lounge area and concert room are really comfortable. Bar area are OK. Outside has plenty of tables, chairs, and loungers too. In all the communal areas there is nice background music which is just that, in the background. Some hotels seem to think you should be having a disco! Shows were quite good with really enthusiastic entertainment people.
WiFi is excellent throughout with no complicated sign-on, though it does slow down a bit during busy periods.
Most of the staff are really friendly and very attentive.
Minor gripes, but they don't detract from the overall rating, are...
Dinner plates are only lukewarm, so food can cool quite quickly. Luckily, everything is usually piping hot.
Though the rooms are well-appointed, ours had 2 queen-sized beds but only 1 bedside cabinet between them. The sockets and light switches were on the outside, so you have to lay your phone/tablet charge lead behind the pillow to put the device on the cabinet. The hotel phone was already like this. Luckily, I had some extra-long leads.
Pigeons are a bit of a nuisance outside, especially if guests leave snack leftovers, so the staff need to keep on top of clearing tables.
This is one of the few hotels I will be going back too.
