The walk from downtown is a bit of a trek, but the food at Sandpiper Café makes it worth it. The reindeer sausage Benedict was really flavorful and well-balanced, and the French toast was rich, sweet, and super filling. The lavender whipped cream looked fun but mostly tasted like regular whipped cream with a lot of purple coloring—I'd probably skip that next time. Overall, a great spot with solid food and a cozy vibe. Definitely worth checking out if you're in the area.

Google
Food was above average. But very slow and unfriendly waitresses. Salmon scramble felt like an unique treat I should try at Alaska. Fruit plate was very good portion. Except for the brown bruised spots on the banana. Service was what deterred us from recommending and coming back. Very slow and unfriendly. Two tables came after us were served coffee and orders taken before they got to us. We tried so hard to get our waitress attention to get coffee refill, both times! Very disappointed with the service.

Google
I had the smom3d salmon omelette and it was awesome. Smoked and melts in the mouth. The food came out relatively fast, service was friendly, and they are ON the coffee refills... I got like 3 top offs I think. This place is amazing (breakfast and lunch only). I highly recommend it.

Google
Excellent diner serving high quality versions of your favorite classics. Popular with locals and visitors alike, with a modern diner vibe. Try the hash. Pancakes are good too.

Google
Well, we ordered a salmon omelet and basic breakfast. We asked for the sourdough bread but it was made with yeast. It was not a sourdough bread. My potatoes were old and not well cooked. Omelet was ok. The eggs for basic breakfast were done exactly the way my friend ask over easy 😊 Coffee was eatery and quite bitter.

Google
Food was great, and service was fast. Place was kind of packed, popular spot so plan for a short wait to sit.

Google
Best breakfast in town! Huge portions and always some local flavor and flair. Their Benedict’s are an excellent choice and I love their cozy cafe atmosphere. The French toast is fluffy perfection. One of my must stops when visiting.

Google
You won't be disappointed in this cafe. The food was delicious and the service was super sweet and took care of us. I had the salmon lox plate and hubster had the corned beef hash. We really enjoyed this breakfast. I hope to go back in the future and enjoy a lunch here. Thanks for a great meal!

Yelp
My favorite breakfast in Juneau, and a classic locals spot. The food is always delicious and the service is excellent. Often busy, but never a wait. They have alternative milk options for espresso drinks, but the drip coffee is great too.

Yelp
Food is still good, but as of January 2025 the portion sizes are greatly reduced. Still the best breakfast in Juneau - just smaller

Yelp
Yelp steered our family to this kind-of-hidden spot while we were in Juneau before departing for a cruise. We were all very happy with our meals! And I really appreciated the easy accommodation for my dairy free and gluten free requests. The GF bread was really good and the omlette was so full of veggies and sausage despite it missing cheese to stay dairy free. We all thought the potatoes were some of the best we've had - cooked perfectly and lightly seasoned to really compliment the rest of the meal. This place may have been worthy of five stars but it was the service and friendliness that wasn't stellar. The host was welcoming and got us seated quickly, but it seemed as if they could have used more servers as our server wasn't quite on top of things like one would expect. It was approaching too long of a wait before she finally came and greeted us at the table. Later, our son had spilled some water and she was great getting us a towel but then forgot to bring us more napkins since we had used those up. We also had to ask for jelly for our toast. On top of all this, the staff in general just didn't seem happy and appeared stressed. It sort of sets not a great tone for what should be a relaxing breakfast out. We would certainly come again if we are ever visiting Juneau again. I just hope the staff situation can improve for their sake and for the customer's.

Yelp
The sandpiper is kinda unique in that it feels like a traditional "beach" cafe but set in Juneau, which I think is intentional given their logo is a cute sandpiper in Xtratuff boots! Between the three of us we tried the French toast special which was French bread stuffed with marscapone and blueberries, the two eggs and potato special and the veggie omelet. I had veggie omelet was a little on the brown side, and the squash seemed like a mistake. The side of fruit was biblical though, never seen anything quite like it. Wonderful sub for the potatoes. The side of salsa I got was obviously out of a bottle. The marscapone French toast was a little on the savory side to my tastes and would have benefitted from a blueberry in the cheese itself I think. Or perhaps more of a compote instead on top. Not bad but lacking something a little. In all the service was... okay, our server was nice but overwhelmed. The food wasn't the best but it was a cute little enjoyable experience and I'm willing to give it another try. 3.5 stars, but I'm willing to believe we just didn't get the best dishes on this occasion so 4 stars!

Yelp
Great breakfast option in downtown Juneau. Friendly service and bright ambiance. Must try the spiced walnut pancake!!!

Yelp
a super cute and coastal feeling brunch place with delicious breakfast favorites and ice cream! bf got the mascarpone mandarin french toast, and i got the corned beef hash which was lovely. they even give you a small piece of fruit which i enjoyed. the second time we went, i got the sourdough ricotta pancake (ginormous 2 stack) combo and bf got the biscuits and gravy, which was peppery and rich. they're popular for their maple bacon ice cream/milkshake, but sadly we were unable to try it. there's also a daily special menu that they change (the food on that board seems yummy too) and is shown on their own instagram page (there's a QR code on the table for you to scan and follow). overall, this was a great brunch spot to go to when you're in juneau!

Yelp
This omelet was so delicious and unique! I love how the cheese is kind of crispy on top. The potatoes were seasoned really well and cooked perfectly. Even the toast was delicious! The service was really good and the inside is super cute and clean.

Yelp
We are here on a cruise and found this local gem! OMG the French Toast special was amazing, stuffed with mascarpone cheese and topped with crumbled, blueberry donuts, blackberry/raspberry sauce, and whipped cream. HIGHLY RECOMMEND

Yelp
We went to the Sandpiper twice during our visit to Juneau and it was excellent both times. It's one of the few vegetarian/vegan friendly places in Juneau as far as we could tell. The first time we went for breakfast--it was a Wednesday morning and we waited maybe ten minutes for a table because it was quite busy inside. It's conveniently located downtown and the crowd appeared to be both tourists and locals. Once we were seated the service was prompt. We ordered coffees, the blueberry pancakes, the vegan pecan French toast, and a fruit plate. The blueberry pancakes were among the best I've had--light and fluffy and maybe a hint of a lemon flavor. They have real maple syrup for an up charge which is the only way to go in my opinion. The fruit plate large and was made up of pineapple, blueberries, apple slices and orange slices. The next time we went was for lunch and we were a table of four. Again, it was busy and we seated after a short wait. I had the grilled veggie sandwich. It was served on a fresh focaccia bread and was delicious. A person in the group had a commitment that required us to need to leave in a hurry so we flagged a server that was not ours and she was super helpful. We were given to go boxes and they got us out of there promptly. We had two great experiences at the Sandpiper and I would definitely recommend it, whether you're looking for a vegan/vegetarian breakfast or lunch, or just regular diner fare.

Yelp
Excellent breakfast.! We were seated by a very friendly man who also cleared tables - a very good sign of staff/owner that truly care about customers. Our waiter was a super nice guy who provided great recommendations and excellent service. We ordered the scramble special - with veggies and hollandaise. It was a top 10 of breakfast dish ever!!

Yelp
My go-to place when I'm in town for breakfast. Good portions and always comes out hot. Coffee isn't great (drip) but gets the job done. Staff is 90% friendly, prob just depends on their day, which is totally fair. Some regulars come in and are super friendly. Some dishes could use some more or more creative seasoning. Chef got over medium eggs 100% perfect, which a lot of places don't. Note: the grilled vegetables as a sub for potatoes is really sautéed veggies.
google avatar

Sara G.

Yelp
Breakfast for lunch YES!!!! Always yes!!!!! We tried a variety of menu items from veggie hash to Reuben and everything was delicious. Our wait staff Amalisa was one of the best parts of the dining experience. She was happy and pleasant. Thank you Sandpiper

Yelp
This is a really popular breakfast/lunch spot. We got there relatively early and got seated right away. The food itself was really good. Price point was on par with other restaurants in the area. The big turn off to us was the service. As soon as the restaurant started filling up (literally right after we got our food), our server got super pushy and brought us the check before we could even take our first bite of food. She then kept coming by and tried to take away our plates before we were done eating it. When we told her no, we're still eating, she looked quite annoyed. Then another server came by and tried to take my plate away too. I don't know what the deal was but it really ruined the ability to enjoy a nice meal.

Yelp
An amazing choice for Sunday brunch. Everything about the Sandpiper was spot on! From the bagels to the omelets, the food was absolutely delicious. The coffee flowed with regular refills (a big plus for the coffee lover). The menu is packed full of traditional breakfast and brunch items. However, if you are in search of the brunch mimosa or Bloody Mary this is not your spot, no adult beverages available. The service was great and the place was packed. It is obvious this is a local and tourist favorite. Our wait was very short, but I would not count in that, especially weekend mornings. It is the quintessential "cafe", perfect for casual and family dining.
google avatar

Declan H.

Yelp
Great classic breakfast. Super busy, even early in the morning, but there's not many sit-down breakfast options in town so it's expected. Make a reservation.
google avatar

Emmie H.

Yelp
I love breakfast and this was such a cute spot. The outside was a little off putting but the inside was adorable. Service was quick and there are so many good options to choose from. I had the French toast plate and loved every bite! Really tasty and some of the best-textured scrambled eggs I've had at a restaurant! Don't second guess yourself and come here for a nice breakfast.
google avatar

Yelp
If I lived in Juneau, I would eat here everyday! The food was absolutely delicious, and the service was superb, I felt like I was at a friends place. The ambience was comfortable, and clean. Can't wait to eat there again the next time that I come to Juneau!
google avatar

Yelp
The cups and plates were dirty they didn't wash them well. It wasn't fresh dirt since it was scorched. The personnel wasn't friendly, maybe because we came 20 minutes before closing. We ordered pancakes and coffee. The cappuccino was Barbie size and too strong. Mocha was oversugared. The latte was good. Their coffee definitely doesn't worth it. Food was ordinary.
google avatar

Kimberly G.

Yelp
The food was delicious. An excellent breakfast spot right near downtown. I was happy to see fruit and vegetable substitutes for potatoes

Yelp
This place is great! Delicious food, fast services, reasonably priced, friendly staff, and easy parking! Hubby had French toast special (coffee flavor for the day - it was great and unique!). I had salmon Benedict with grilled veggie and that was a well prepared dish. I was deciding between salmon Omelet and Benedict and the waitress recommended Benedict. I saw some other table ordered a giant bowl of salad and that looked fresh. From the outside, it looks like an extension to a motel but the inside is clean and renovated.

Yelp
Sandpiper! One of my favorite breakfast places in all of Juno. And favorite brunch spots. They always have such interesting specials! Service is always been great! And the restaurant is super adorable. It's not very large so if you wanna get there and have a spot and not wait a long time get there early!!! Breakfast -- burrito -- blueberry pancake -- biscuits and gravy -- any of the French toast delicious Lunch / sandwiches -- Ruben -- patty melt -- grilled vegetarian Salad -- citrus chicken salad -- Caesar salad

Yelp
I'm a local to Juneau and this restaurant is by far the best breakfast in town.. I'm giving them a 4 star because the last time I went there I was in complete shock! The restaurant had MANY tables empty however they took my name and number and told me that they would page me when a table was ready.. this was the first for me in the 10years I have gone! There was one group (party of two) ahead of me and me and my mom. I was just watching and wasn't completely understanding what was going on and why we had to stand there and wait.. during the time I wait which was over 10 min. now there was a line out the door and still at least 5-7 empty tables.. finally after about 10 min of standing there the party in front of me was seated. Then about 5 min went by and we were seated.. They had plenty of staff there that was not the issue. I was just in complete SHOCK this past weekend when I stop in for some yummy eggs, Benedict! Get it together Sand Piper I don't want this to be the case every time I go which is at least once a week or more! But again the food is amazing!

Yelp
We had to come here because my husband had such an outstanding experience that he insisted that we go back on our first day back in Juneau. I can only say he was right, this is an amazing place for breakfast. From the greeting, the introduction of the daily special board, to the excellent service by Elisa, it was perfect. We had the delish French Toast, from homemade French bread, and a waffle, it was so yummy. Portions are very generous and prices VERY reasonable. Just wish we had them closer to us in CA. We'll definitely be back!!

Yelp
The service was very slow due to how busy it was but that is understandable so no complaints there. The food was great and this place has a home kind of feel with tons of light throughout the establishment. They do need to work on some things though such as the bathroom door was very messed up and we witnessed a kid get stuck in the bathroom. Turns out they had no way to open the door in case of emergency so the child was stuck. Eventually they broke the door down.

Chris R.

Yelp
Very disappointed, I order a Denver omelet, with hash browns, the omelet execution was lacking rather than peppers and ham wrapped in egg is was layered, I had a ham and peppers sautéed on the bottom with an egg pancake then cheese melted on top, last I checked that is not an omelet, not to mention it was very greasy.. the hash browns were way over cooked and was like eating fried wantons. Lastly service was friendly but lack follow up, I wanted jam on my toast and once the food was delivered, the next time I saw the server was to bring the check.
google avatar

Yelp
My husband and I had breakfast and although the food was delicious, the service was so slow. It took about 15 min before a server took our drink order after we were seated. The food came out relatively quickly but our server kept disappearing. We sat with empty coffee cups and water for the last 15 minutes of our meal. Our server came finally and asked if we needed anything else and we said no. She took our plates and we didn't see her with our bill for another 20 minutes. They were busy but not crazy. Only go here if you don't have a schedule to keep.

Yelp
Very delicious! Had and omelet and a scramble and both were cooked perfectly!! Highly recommend.

Yelp
This is the best spot in Juneau for breakfast...I would come every day if I could! Go often and try everything on the menu!!
google avatar

Yelp
Very solid diner breakfast at expensive Juneau prices. Even though it was busy, staff were friendly and food came out fast. We enjoyed the French toast special and crab cake Benedict (the hollandaise did break a bit but the flavor was great) Definitely a solid choice for breakfast in Juneau.

Sharon M.

Yelp
A bit of a wait but all worth it. Cheerful staff and interior. Great choices of specials. The portions are huge. Seriously huge. My salad was full of micro greens. Tomatoes. Oranges and grapefruit. Delicious chicken with a light citrus dressing. All loved their sandwiches and the breads. Wish they were open for dinner!!

Kelly B.

Yelp
We had enough of cruise food by the time we got to Juneau and were lucky enough to find this great breakfast spot that was off the beaten path near a motel, but still within a short walking distance (-10 minutes) from the port. Great service and a hearty breakfast. Gourmet French toast and delicious potatoes. Friendly service. This place is a gem!
google avatar

Yelp
Nice breakfast early morning. Wait staff, friendly and accommodating. Yep, I recommend!
google avatar

Katie G.

Yelp
Cute little cafe! The food was absolutely delicious and great vegan options-highly recommend the tofu scramble. The only issue was how long it took to get our food-almost an hour. They did warn us they were backed up in the kitchen and service was very kind. Just come in knowing it might be awhile especially on the weekend!
google avatar

Danielle K.

Yelp
Melissa was our server and we had a large party! She nailed everything and was so sweet! Always on top of refilling waters and coffee! We loved her! Also, the food is amazing! Thank you

Yelp
You would think with excellent reviews online, and a line out the door that this place would be great, right?! WRONG! I don't mind a 30-45min wait to be seated, that happens and is often expected. HOWEVER, once I'm seated I'd really like to actually be waited on! I had to flag someone down just to order a coffee after waiting at the table for 20minutes (and I'm not exaggerating!). 5min later I finally had my coffee, which was luke warm, and I finished it quickly as I was beginning to get a caffeine withdrawal headache. Then took another 10min for someone to acknowledge me & take my food order. I had also ordered another coffee which took another 10min to get and STILL had not gotten any food. Like I understand being busy, but there are multiple empty tables, and you could at least address your customers instead of walking past them. As a frequent single diner, I get this ALLLL the time. Just once I'd like these people to go out to eat alone and then get treated like you don't exist. Food is decent, but the wait and dismissive staff will never have me returning.I mean, people who were seated way after me, got their food, ate and left before I even had a chance to taste my food!!
google avatar

Gary F.

Yelp
Not a bad choice for breakfast. They have a small menu and atleast what's on it looks good. We just had a couple of things, two of the three kinds of French toast a side of hash browns. The hash browns were good although they needed a little bit of salt. We also had the vanilla & cinnamon French toast and the vegan pecan French toast. Both were very good. My wife's friend got the tofu scramble at another table. After seeing the picture wished she would have gotten that instead of the vegan pecan French toast. It was Father's day so there was a little bit of a wait and the service was so so. Still not dad for breakfast.
google avatar

Jessica B.

Yelp
The 7 kinds of French toast are the thing here, but make it a combo and you get eggs and bacon too. The special today was lemon blueberry mascarpone and it was really good. I liked mine best though: quiche and a BUNCH of fresh fruit (half an apple, a whole banana, blueberries, cantaloupe), and I swapped out the potatoes for crispy hash browns (brilliant option). They don't say what's in it, so guessing it varies, but today's quiche was a creamy mushroom, zucchini, polish sausage mix and it was fantastic. The latte was good too: This is a solid breakfast spot in Juneau!
google avatar

Stephen B.

Yelp
First and foremost, go early. The line gets long quickly. I'm a believer that there is typically an efficient market for restaurants, which is to say if they're full and there's a wait there's usually a good reason. Sometimes it's because the place is a tourist trap...and sometimes it's because it's worth the wait in the abstract. For our family trip, this was worth the wait in the abstract. It's a breakfast joint, so of course there are breakfast dishes. Eggs. Toast. Potatoes. All of which were precisely as we would have expected, and quite good. The big winners, though, seem to be the specials which are handwritten on a chalkboard (and handed out on a recently printed piece of paper), and one has to believe that those are the real attractions. My son had a crazy French toast concoction using baguette bread, coffee, cinnamon, marcapone, and whipped cream that totally looked like a diabetic coma on a plate...and that he demolished in short order because it was so good. Place is charming. Service is super-friendly if a little slow -- high tourism season and an environment where workers just don't show up to jobs is hurting everyone. Would definitely come back here if I were to return to Juneau, and recommend it with enthusiasm.

Roxannr S.

Yelp
I had the breakfast crab cakes with holindaise sauce and the crab was not good- blah.

Melissa M.

Yelp
Very slow service despite restaurant being half empty. Waiting more than 10 mins after being seated before being acknowledged. Food lacking flavor Would not recommend
google avatar

Chris C.

Yelp
Used to be "the place" for the best breakfast in town. My last encounter didn't go so well. The place was not even half filled with customers yet service was slow. The house coffee has a burnt taste. I've seen them empty a pot of old coffee into new coffee. This will generate a burnt taste even in the freshly brewed pot. If you order a specialty coffee then it's pretty good. So my recommendation skip the house coffee and get an Americano. During my last visit, the majority of my order was wrong or different from the description. I ordered over-easy eggs and received over hard. The menu said grilled tomatoes and what I received was fresh-cut tomatoes. The attention to detail seems to be hurting the overall experience of what used to be the gem in town.

Mark B.

Yelp
We walked over from Four Points, waited a bit, and well very happy with everything. Service was great, food delicious - recommended!
google avatar

Fabiana K.

Yelp
The food is phenomenal. I ordered vegetarian eggs Benedict with potatoes and it was a blast of flavor with every bite.

Thomas K.

Yelp
Waited at least 15min for someone to acknowledge us after being seated. 10minutes for the 1 latte to show up after ordering. Another 30 minutes for food to show up. Corn beef hash breakfast was a joke for the amount of hash in the hash browns and price. The once large breakfast burrito has shrunk to two, well sm to med, burritos. Food was good but the service and price.

Jennifer M.

Yelp
Great food and terrific service! Not to mention really stellar tee shirts for sale! We had Sunday morning breakfast and didn't feel rushed even though there was a line of folks waiting to get in.

B K.

Yelp
Great food and service. They DO have Gluten Free. A real local hangout. The Reuben is the best EVER!
google avatar

Krista M.

Yelp
Absolutely five stars because it's without a doubt "as good as it gets" in terms of breakfast in Juneau! After a lackluster experience the day prior, I knew I needed to find a better spot and Yelp did not let me down. My Dad and I ventured over mid-morning on a Tuesday in mid-July and were able to be seated after a brief five minute wait. Our waiter was busy yet attentive. I ordered the Smoked Salmon Lox Bagel that was presented beautifully in a build-your-own-bagel. My Dad ordered an omelette which he thoroughly enjoyed. I loaded up on coffee and was genuinely pleased with this place. Good service, nice atmosphere, efficient, reasonable prices, good variety/selection... I would consider it an essential breakfast spot if you're in the Juneau area!
google avatar

Aaron Z.

Yelp
The food is amazing here. Tried the crab cake Benedict and country fried steak. Both of them have excellent flavor!!! And it cost a lot less than those restaurants by the cruise ships(btw, don't go those.. they are terrible and way overpriced).
google avatar

Yelp
Large portions for breakfast. Wonderful service! The French toast was fantastic and very thick pieces.
