Sandrock Holiday Hostel

Amazing little place in the top most remote corner of Ireland. Rodney the host is generous. Though you do have to call him to book. Rates for the dorm were affordable. The place was clean. Parking is available. My stay was incredibly comfortable.

Spent a night at Sandrock for the first night on our motorcycle tour of the WAW. What an outstanding hostel! Rodney could not be more welcoming and was so enthusiastic in sharing his knowledge of the surrounding area as well as showing us the facilities. The rooms (2x 10 bed en-suite dorms) were spotless, spacious and comfortable with views that cannot be beaten. The only pictures I had seen online of the rooms really do not do justice. Margarete was also ready to welcome with a cup of tea. It is really like being invited into their home! Great kitchen facilities with everything you would need. telescope set up at the front window for looking out over the bay and whilst we didn't see any, Rodney told us there were regular sightings of dolphins. Would definitely stay again if in the area!

I got a great welcome from Rodney. Great comfy warm facilities. I recommend to everyone visiting the area.|I don’t understand why more people don’t enjoy the possibilities offered staying in hostel accommodation.. it’s cheap as chips and the experience is warmer and more welcoming than most b and bs or hotels! Great restaurant only 5 minutes away as well.

Stayed here for 4 nights last July and have such fond memories. It's a fantastic place, with so much character! Very friendly hosts, excellent facilities, breathtaking view from the sitting room. Loads of really interesting books and all sorts of publications from which to draw information about local history, flora, fauna, geography etc.And the location couldn't be more perfect for the exploration of this magnificent part of Donegal. Also, even if you're a hiker with no car like myself, the local bus services allow you to get to other places easily- I managed to visit Glenveagh and climb Erigal in one day. I'd love to come back!

Terrific hostel! A beautiful setting with clean, quiet rooms. The common areas (indoor/outdoor) were welcoming and comfortable.

Sandrock is situated overlooking Port Ronan and the White Strand shoreline. The stunning views out to the wets and south West of Inishowen are spectacular and beautiful. Rodney is a wonderfully welcoming host, and his knowledge of the area is encyclopedic. He is a lovely man and he made our stay special and memorable. Thank you Rodney, we shall return 💚

I would like to thank Rodney for his kindness and availability. The hostel's location is amazing, with a wonderful view on the waves of the Atlantic, and the living room is very comfortable. Definitely a good experience.

I was lucky enough to have the whole hostel to myself and it was exactly what I needed after a long drive. Rodney and Margaret could not have been more welcoming, and made me a lovely mug of tea and biscuits on arrival. ||||Total solitude, a comfy lounge with a view to die for! It was a struggle to leave my cosy spot but there are lovely beaches and ocean views all around.||||An absolute gem of a place, with years of love invested in it, a high point of my trip to Donegal.
