This Tranquil Florida State Park in the Keys Has White-sand Beaches, Crystal Waters, and Stargazing Under Dark Skies

Google
Sandspur Beach was a lovely find! We visited at the end of May and the water was warm (warmest I've experienced in the USA, because I'm from Massachusetts) and inviting — plus it was pretty empty, which made it even better. There was plenty of parking available for a small fee. The sand was soft and pleasant to walk on. The only minor issue was some seaweed near the shore, but that clears up once you go a little deeper into the water. Restrooms were available, though they closed about an hour before the park itself, so plan accordingly. The surrounding area also offers beautiful views — perfect for snapping some peaceful nature photos. Overall, a calm, relaxing beach day!

Pretty and lonely beach. Bathrooms and showers available. The beach was covered in dead plants of some sort, but still nice, even though it would have made swimming difficult.

Sandspur Beach is a beautiful quiet beach where you can stroll along the water and swim. This is one of my favorite beaches in the keys as it is very relaxing and not very busy.

Great beach 🏖️ area… beautiful ocean 🌊 water, nice breeze and sunny ☀️ day!!! Good for young kids… clean bathrooms, outdoors showers and plenty parking. Sorry, no gazebo’s… bring your own cover or your going to be in pain later (sunburn). Seat or laid back and relax!!!

Long, skinny, fine white sand beach with dead sea grass at the high water mark. Family friendly, not too busy. Good facilities and clean bathrooms. Plenty of handicapped parking. $10.50 for 5 people. No alcohol allowed.

This stop was the best part of my entire visit to the Florida keys. The pristine white sand and clear blue water was surreal. Absolutely worth the $4.50 park pass. Would highly recommend working into your itinerary

Campsites open with 23’ maximum due to tight roadways/turns. Beach access via boardwalk near site 62 leading to beautiful water access through layers of rock and vegetation. Full sun on every campsite. New, heavy picnic tables and charcoal grill at each site. Handicap site has soft tent pad. Bath house new and open. Walked the roadway to all other beaches/trails/bridge/gift shop (around 2 miles).

Amazing beach, reasonable pricing and very convenient parking. Beautiful clear water, not too steep for kids.

Yelp
The water was clear and it was great for shelling. One of the best beaches I've ever been to. Just be wary of the sand fleas they are bad in some spots.

Yelp
We are a full time traveling family of 6. We share our journey on our with others on social media so others know about family friendly and inexpensive places to visit with kids. Today was the perfect day to take a walk to a little island the locals call Conch Island. You can get there easily by the campsite we are staying at (Sunshine Key RV Resort) The walk itself is full of sea life but if you come at low tide there are creatures in the tide pools. Today we went a little later but we're still able to find some fun things! Part of this whole simple life that I enjoy is the exploring, without an agenda. Just taking off and finding cool things along the way. The kids will fight at an amusement park or staying home, or in most situations because they are "bored". But the second we are outside and exploring, everyone immediately changes their tune and we spend hours just doing "nothing". I hope these are the memories they will take with them. If you're interested in learning more about our journey or more traveling tips, you can find us on YouTube, Facebook or Instagram by searching The Runaway Parents @the.runaway.parents

Yelp
Perfect scrap of sun and salt. It's not the traditional Florida beach, but it's a gorgeous keys beach.

Yelp
Great beach with low tides. You can walk out a decent distance and still only be up to your waist. I viewed the sunset from the ocean, and it was spectacular! Will definitely go here again the next time I'm in the area.
