The Best Hotels in Barbados

"One of Barbados’ most glamorous hotels, Sandy Lane’s polished marble floors, old-fashioned sofas, and heart-tugging sea views framed by stone arches and pillars set an opulent tone. It backs onto a pretty stretch of blond beach on the west coast, not far from colorful Holetown. Despite the impeccable service, the Neo-Palladian stone bedrooms and the multitude of diamonds flickering under candlelight at supper, the atmosphere here is seriously easygoing. In British or American country club style, guests zip off in golf carts after a lazy buffet breakfast to one of Sandy Lane’s three golf courses, or commit to a full day in the palatial spa—easily done with its sauna, steam room, and hydrotherapy pool assault course, along with an impressive raft of delicious treatments, from Bajan sugar cane scrubs to cryotherapy energy facials. A gelato bar, water sports, and a truly superb Treehouse Club for smalls play to the country club idyll, buying deserving parents some time on the beach. Along with the romanesque pillared L’Acajou restaurant and the more relaxed Bajan Blue, an enormous layered pool with its own waterfall serves as a focal point in the hotel, where sunbathers can observe the comings and goings of tennis whites, or kaftans floating back from the bar with fresh piña coladas. —Rosalyn Wikeley" - Angelina Villa-Clarke, Rosalyn Wikeley

The 20 Best Resorts in the Caribbean: 2023 Readers’ Choice Awards | Condé Nast Traveler

"This landmark resort is something of a Bajan institution, with elegant interiors and an awesomely beautiful setting that ensures it is consistently ranked as one of the best hotels in the Caribbean. This splendor runs through everything, including the hotel's Treehouse Club for little ones. The resort, on the site of a onetime sugar plantation, offers old-school Caribbean luxury. Neo-Palladian accommodations are appointed with rich furniture, and offer views of the beachfront or Sandy Lane’s tropical gardens. Three golf courses are set along a former stone quarry, and open only to guests. Dine on French and Mediterranean specialties at the open-air L’Acajou." - CNT Editors

Matthew Goode on Scotland’s Great Outdoors, His 'Crisis Trip' to Barbados, and His Love of Bespoke Suits

"We spent 10 glorious days at the Sandy Lane resort. They couldn’t have been nicer to us. It has a little bit of everything: We had brilliant weather, a wonderful beach (we’re a beach family), you can play tennis, and the food is marvelous. Oh, and there’s the Green Monkey golf course. If you’ve never played it, it’s terribly fun."

Sandy Lane, Barbados - Hotel Review | Condé Nast Traveler

"This landmark resort is something of a Bajan institution, with elegant interiors and an awesomely beautiful setting that ensures it is consistently ranked as one of the best hotels in the Caribbean. This splendor runs through everything, including the hotel's Treehouse Club for little ones. They will be kept busy from morning until sunset with sailing, outdoor movie nights and even themed dinner parties on the itinerary. Teenagers are catered for with a special Den fitted out with pool tables, table football and a jukebox, plus a mocktail bar. Visiting during school holidays? Sign up to a sports camp and choose from swimming, water-skiing, golf, tennis and football. Trust us: they won't be bored. Dine on French and Mediterranean specialties at the open-air L’Acajou."

Quite simply a Beautiful Hotel situated practically on the Beach in Holetown in the Parish of St James. The Staff are extremely knowledgeable, friendly and attentive. Whether you stay here, come along for Afternoon Tea or treat yourselves to Dinner you will always be made to feel like a King/Queen.

We booked the Sunday brunch as an anniversary treat and wow, this didn’t disappoint. |We arrived slightly early and were offered a drink prior to dining. We visited the outdoor bar and had lovely cocktails. |The brunch itself was incredible. Such a choice of items available and looked super fresh and well prepared. Husband loved the sushi, lovely choice of seafood (inc lobster and crab legs) and the pecan pie was gorgeous. |Some live music played whilst we ate. |A day we’ll not forget. Not cheap but worth every penny for the experience.

How do you describe the perfection that is Sandy Lane. Our fourth visit….and it never disappoints. As they said on our arrival, “welcome home “! That’s just how it feels….||Our room was superb with a beautiful view. Breakfasts are amazing and all the lunches we had were delicious.||Their magic ingredient is of course the Staff! They are beyond wonderful….all of them charming, friendly and professional.||We will return…||Thank you for an amazing week

The resort is magnificent golf and spa one of the best in the world. The restaurant manager at the downstairs restaurant stephon was excellent. Wonderful person. The only very small downside is the beach drink and food service very slow but besides that staff and resort excellent

Went to Sandy Lane for afternoon tea as a treat. We had the classic tea but had pre tea cocktails, great choice and around $49 Barbadian each. Food was delicious - all fresh and beautifully presented. Jackie was our server and she was wonderful, attentive, knowledgeable about teas and the resort. Overall for 2 cocktails and 2 teas we paid $370 Barbadian but worth every penny for our Barbados treat

It lives up to all expectations!||I had been staying at the nearby Royal Pavilion, but the hotel was awful, so I moved to Sandy Lane. I wish I had just come here to begin with. From start to finish the booking, checking in, holiday and vacating process was exceptional.||They arrange a car to collect you. When you arrive you are greeted with a cocktail, a smile, a meet and greet with the team, including the general manager. Check in takes place in your room, and then you leave your bags and the team unpack for you. I was dubious about this part but they unpacked my rather chaotic suitcase better than I would have done. Everything hung immaculately, in colour order and in formal/casual order.||The hotel and grounds are immaculate. Everyone is very friendly and the Manager / Assistant Managers are present walking around speaking to people, it is lovely to see them "on the ball" and with staff and guests.||Room. Excellent. A tiny gripe would be the TV does not have many channels and it seemed impossible to stream from my phone/laptop even thought he feature is advertised.|Bathroom. Magical|Spa. Amazing. Make sure you use the Spa!!!!|Pool. Devine.|Beach. It is fantastic. Especially the watersports team who have years of experience and very helpful with all the free to use non motorised sports.|Drinks. Expensive, as expected. But the best rum punch going!|Food. Delicious and plentiful. You will not go hungry! Expensive, but again as expected.||Everything was perfect. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Best hotel ever, I’ve been going to Barbados for at least 15 years and I never get bored of going there. My favourite place on campus has to be the kids club. The staff are all amazing and I would reccomend this to anyone

Excellent afternoon tea, one of the best. It was a birthday celebration and one that we shall not forget. All aspects of our time there, were made extra special by Jackie who looked after us. Thank you Jackie, we'll be back. Thanks also to the Doorman and the Valet team.
