Not being dismissive of food, the soup and sarnies are lovely, though it's not a gastropub, just a delightful, old school, friendly pub (based on 20 years of visits)

Ryan’s Pub is here. Get away from all the people and enjoy a quiet pint or some food. In A very clean place. My opinion the best pub in town. My grandson and myself having a taste with Fred. All the people in this place are great and we all share stories.

Another unique pub of Ireland. Very friendly and a fantastic pour. Wings n Prawns great. Great little town loved it. Dog friendly!

Great locals' pub in Sandymount, which means that, yes, if you ain't a local you will get the token 'who the hell are you' stares when you walk in the door. If you can handle the overt scrutiny of yourself and everyone in your crew, head here for a pint or two during a trip to Sandymount and its lovely coastline. One of the bar tenders is great.. classic even! He is constantly apologising, constantly checking to see if you're enjoying your 4 euro basket of fries (of course we are, we're smashed, we'd still be eating them if they weren't cooked) and constantly making sure all his customers have a drink in their hands. The old blokes tend to hang out here and have a great yarn over an ale or twenty. They must have been meeting here for 20 years or so, but they still sit at tables opposite each other in the lounge bar. You'd think they'd be sitting at the same table by now, wouldn't ya? Would help them hear what the other guy's saying, that's for sure. Instead they bark at each other from opposite sides of the room. Must be part of the tradition. Classic. I have a friend who wants to retire at 45 and spend the rest of his life in a pub just like this one. Good luck to him!

The rudest, most unpleasant experience I've had in a Dublin pub in the past thirty years. I'm a relatively recent local and I came in with three friends who cabbed over from Rathmines to meet me for lunch, a pint and to watch the match. We ordered a round of drinks which were brought to the table we'd just sat down at by one of the bar men. We'd been chatting for less than five minutes--I hadn't touched my drink yet--and the bar man came back to the table, threw cash down, grabbed our drinks and aggressively told us to leave because we'd had too much to drink. When we asked what the issue was, that we hadn't had anything to drink yet, he said he didn't care and to leave. We tried to reason again, saying there must be some misunderstanding, and found ourselves being stared down by all five bar men who looked like they were waiting for a fight. So we left. One of my friends was particularly upset as she used to live across from the pub, which she drank in, and had never been ejected from any pub before. She went back in to find out what had really happened. The bar man changed his story and said that I was asleep at the table--an unusual thing to have seen given that I was deep in conversation with my friend beside me about the college assignments I had just taken a break from so I could have lunch with him. None of us have experienced such unquantified pig ignorance in any pub for years. I won't be going back. I have a number of local friends who use the pub as a central gathering point who won't be going back either.

Ireland is so warm and welcoming....this is the first place that sadly, was not. Bartender was abrupt, rude, and dismissive. Great location and neat atmosphere inside but we felt so uncomfortable we left. Glad others have had a more positive experience.

If you want a local pub with local folks, this is your spot. Bartender was very friendly and happy to have us there. Many of the folks in the pub knew each other but not all of them and we felt very comfortable. We were there on a Monday and they were not serving food, so it was a spot to get a pint. We saw a food board displayed outside the pub the next day, so they may serve food on other days?

This is my pre-match venue. As a Munster girl in Leinster, it can be difficult to fit in you see. These guys give us support. And it's near enough to Landsdow...sorry, the newly, stupidly-Christened 'Aviva Stadium' (did you ever?!) They've got enough TVs to make it easy to watch if you haven't been lucky enough to get tickets. The barman is just what a barman should be - friendly, chatty, nosy and sporty-minded. Can't really say better than that...

Can't fault this place. It's a great pub. Sit outside in the sunshine. Sit inside and enjoy the craic! Go here before any game in Aviva Stadium. Bar staff couldn't be nicer

I only ever end up in Ryans at Christmas. .. don't know why, it's a great little bar. Well worth a visit the rest of the year too. Worth noting as the silly season fast approaches, they do a mean (as in good) hot port.

It does what it says on the tin at Ryan's. It's a great "aul' fella pub". Don't expect fancy craft beers or tapas or ironic decoration; just come along for great craic!

This is my local pub. Not as fancy as some of the other pubs in the Sandymount/Ballsbridge area, but has a lovely local feel, friendly bar staff, lots of banter, nice warm atmosphere. I like:-)

Great local spot in a little Irish spot. Great service. Not a lot of food choices but still pretty great they serve delicious food. Loved it.

Slap bang in the middle of one of the most traditional of southside 'villages' Ryan's faces out onto Sandymount Green. Inside, the pub accommodates local aul' fellas in cloth caps and young professionals in expensive cloth suits. The ambiance has been ruined recently by the addition of the generic plasma screen - expect rugby to get pride of place here, though English soccer does makes an appearance. The bar staff, however, have been there years and treat you with good humour and have a better than average wine selection. The Beamish isn't bad either.

Met with a friend on Saturday before the SA game at The Aviva. Good buzz, Great service. Set us a table on front of the fire as we wanted to watch the Wales match Table service even though pub was very busy. Excellent all round and my 10 yr old son said that the Goujons were the best he has ever tasted.

Great staff and good value but well established ambiance has been ruined by numerous TV's on all the time showing nothing in particular. Should be turned off when game is over rather than annoyingly catching eye with rivetting live curling from Tasmania or Falklands. Could be a great pub given location, staff and old world but tone down electronics. Other pub in Sandymount, Mulligans, wisely only have the TVs blazing when something real is on which is far more comfortable.
