Sandy's Restaurant

This place has a lot of hype, especially the giant cinnamon bun. I ordered basic 2 eggs, bacon, toast and my friend ordered the hangover breakfast. His plate was drenched in white gravy, which over-powered the food. A fresh plate was brought out and now you can appreciate the beauty and taste. A sauce or gravy should never overpower the meal, instead put a little on, and then provide a side of it so the customer can control the desired amount. I felt the same way about the cinnamon bun. The cream cheese frosting overwhelmed the bun and made it too soggy. Lastly, the booth seats were hard slotted wood and uncomfortable. Overall, a decent place, but not worth the hype.

Most of the staff were unfriendly and one downright rude. Our server was nice and competent. We had wanted to visit this restaurant but the place is always crowded so we went on a Saturday about 11:30. It took 9 minutes just to check in. We asked for a booth due to disabilities but were given the end on a table with lots of kids. We were finally able to convince the employees that this was unacceptable. The Sandy's omelet had plenty of fillings of ham and cheese but very little egg. It was covered in red salsa like sauce which was spicy. The cheese was tasteless unfortunately. The hash browns were undercooked which makes them susceptible to bacteria. The English muffin was cold and burned on the end. The pancake was very large and was good. The vegetable omelet also had plenty of fillings including spinach, mushrooms, green peppers and feta cheese. Again, served with uncooked hash browns. The cinnamon roll was hard on the outside with way too much icing. The biscuit with the gravy was large and fluffy and the gravy was thick but rather bland. There are a few booths around the edges, but mostly long tables where people are seated with other groups. We had to ask for refills on our drinks every time. There is plenty of park, however only 2 handicap spots.

Typical hole in the wall dinner type of place. Good food great portions and servers that are running around keeping all the plates spinning. We got a biscuit with gravy, a since of french toast, and the veggie omelette. The french toast had an additional later of tastiness, with their dipping it into their cinnamon batter. The biscuit and gravy was fairly standard but it wasn't too heavy. The omelette was the 6 egg and was split and filled us up completely.

I've been wanting to hop in for awhile now and we were in town for a apt and the time aligned with the 230pm closing and we made it across town by 1230ish. I was worried they would be out of the cinnamon rolls. There parking lot was decent size with plenty of parking. We were seated within about 10 minutes. Some of the tables are set up community style and you get to make new friends. Service was prompt and friendly plus I saw staff jumping in to help out everywhere needed. I asked for a cinnamon roll right after being seated as it was a full house. I really wanted that cinnamon roll. I had heard many good things about these rolls. My hopes were not dashed. This cinnamon roll was plate size drowned in cream cheese frosting/glaze. It was probably one of the best bites I've ever tasted in my life. I did the veggie omelet with a few modifications. Added sausage and the green chili salsa. Im not a huge fan of green chili but wow that was really good. If you have no spice tolerance it has a bit. Hubby found it mild but also loved it. I loved the little signs all around and really hope yall do charge the 5 dollar whining fee when needed. There is an extensive menu and the coffee was very good! They have tons of condiments, creamer and more on the table to make it more efficient. I will be back to bring Mama Rabbit out for breakfast here soon. Cinnamon rolls are her favorite too.

I ordered the steak and eggs special, with a sweet tea. I was asked and that was nice how I wanted my steak. Well my well done steak ended up being and I mean almost med well. I did eat it and it did the job, but no homerun. May second base. Maybe. And my tea, well let's just say I'm glad the sugar jar was full. No sweet tea. I ate everything. I do not waste food. Just criticize and review. However our server Liz was phenomenal. The atmosphere was pleasant to look at.

Im blown away with the incredible service and quality of the food! Right when we sat down they were giving the table fresh baked cookies and the Carne Asada Chilaquiles was the best I might have ever experienced! Then AJ brought us their famous cinnamon roll and I was blown away!! Definitely be back soon thanks team!!

A hidden gem right near Peterson SFB! For a Friday morning, the place was bustling but we were quickly seated outside. The food came out quick and was delicious, especially the green chili hangover skillet! I'd highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a hidden gem breakfast diner.

Sandy’s is one of those places in the Springs where you can literally order anything on the menu and it will be absolutely delicious. There aren’t many places here where you can say that, and that would explain why the place is always so busy. And with the Perfect Breakfast option, if you don’t get what you wanted it’s your own darn fault. Green Chili has two levels, Spicy and Diablo, but neither one overpowers the flavor of the food or burns your face off. My wife had the Perfect Breakfast with sausage, over-easy eggs, hash browns, and toast. I also had the Perfect Breakfast, the only difference being ham steak instead of sausage. She had the spicy green chili and I tried the diablo. Simply excellent. Service was spot-on, and you just gotta love the atmosphere. In the past, they were a cash-only establishment but now they do take cards. So you no longer have an excuse not to go!

I had high hopes for this place, but came away with mixed feelings. The staff here was very friendly, so hats off to them for that. It's pretty rare that I would ever send a dish back at a restaurant, but the chicken strips they served us were so over cooked that after one bite, I was seriously concerned I would chip a tooth. To their credit, they took them back, and remade them, and they were cooked properly the second time. They still weren't great tasting, though. Maybe it was my fault for ordering chicken strips at a diner in the first place (I had been eating breakfast at the hotel everyday, and was a bit fatigued with breakfast food at that particular moment). I also upgraded my fries to chili-cheese fries. Much to my surprise they came with green chili, and oddly, no cheese. At this point, I didn't have it in me to complain about the odd tasting chili and no cheese. As for the cinnamon roll? It was huge, and pretty decent. I wouldn't say it was great enough to give this place a great review, but it was decent enough. Overall just a so-so experience for us.

Sandy's is a hole-in-the-wall gem serving up classic diner fare in a no-frills, kitschy atmosphere that honors the area's cowboy heritage. Everything comes in ample portions and is prepared to perfection. Breakfasts are the star here and there is the traditional selection of eggs, pancakes, and southwest entrees. Today, we had the eggs benedict as well as the huevos divorciados. We also had the cinnamon roll which is a 'must-have' complement to any breakfast dish. We also need to commend the service which is prompt, attentive, and on-target. Despite being a full house, our coffee never got less than half full which is the mark of excellence. Sandy's is a straight forward breakfast nook that deserves your business.

Service: 5+, "Kat" our server was so friendly and helpful. She was slammed this morning, but you wouldn't know it from the way she served us! Near the end of our time, another server brought by fresh chocolate chip cookies, still hot from the oven! Food: 4.5, I loved my spinach, onion, mushroom, sausage and cheese omelet! The hash-browns were pretty good but not over-the-moon good. My wife and friend shared a huge cinnamon roll that they couldn't all eat, but did say it was heavenly! Everyone remarked about the huge portions. Ambiance: 5, Classic diner chic, tin signs on the walls, framed Gazette reviews of Sandy's, old hardwood paneling. The place was clean as a whistle! It is noisy, but a happy people kind of noise! Although the place was really busy mid morning on a Saturday, no one waited more than five minutes for a table. Sandy's has ample staff and they knew their jobs. We are coming back soon after looking at their lunch menu!

Nice sometimes when you travel alone, you can just walk into a restaurant and sit at the breakfast bar alongside a nice lady to have a conversation with and enjoy breakfast. The service was amazing and they were all friendly welcoming you talking with you They were all taking care of you and moving quickly The coffee was never empty and tasted great. The food came out quick And also had great flavor I'm from Connecticut but ride out here a lot to see my kids and grandkids so you know I will be back many times. I haven't left yet so I will see you again. You too Kat

I have tried to eat at this 3 times now. This last time there was 2 booths open with no one waiting . I asked to have a booth and was told by a child that there was a wait. No one was waiting. I stood in front for 5 minutes before asked. 3 strikes your out.

Great family style restaurant! The most friendly and attentive staff you'll find anywhere. They even bring around trays of freshly baked chocolate chip cookies while you wait for your food. Literally can't beat it anywhere. Also, beware...their portions are huge! Like 6 egg-breakfast burrito big! Don't be ashamed to share or plan on taking a to-go box. But either way you're going to have a great time at this community staple!

This was our second time in and the service from Yuri was amazing and much appreciated. The food is cooked to order and bring your appetite. We will be back when visiting from Arizona.

Very crowded! Make a day out of it Take a tour of the WWII air museum. The wait can be a bit long!

Get to Sandy's now and get the clubs and house chips....just do it. My drink was neve4 empty, and they food was filling, delicious and made to order. Run dont walk.

I'm so happy I found this restaurant! My family and I enjoyed the food, The service was quick, and they were so nice despite it being so busy. We cant wait to come back and try more of the menu :) I'd definitely recommend it eating here if you get the chance.

Talk about comfort food! I can't believe I have not eaten here until now, but if you're looking for an unassuming hole in the wall with awesome cafe style comfort food, No frills and healthy portions, this is your place. Walked in at lunchtime, sat ourselves, and service was prompt. I had chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes and veggies, and everything was cooked perfectly. My friend's mushroom Swiss burger looked delicious, and he said it was. Just looking at those cinnamon rolls... I try to stay away from too much sugar, but I couldn't pass up and we split a small one. Still huge and Delectable. I looked for all of my café comfort food favorites, and every single one of them was on the menu. Pretty sure I'm gonna be back. Sooner rather than later.

Wonderful diner to get breakfast. It's crowded and for a reason, the food is amazing. The food service is quick, so far I've had their breakfast three times. Every time the food is amazing! The atmosphere is friendly and homey.

Wonderful food and service! It seems to be a popular place to eat, quite crowded on Sunday at lunch time (probably the same most days) but if you go there you will see why! Lots of food, good prices and the staff are amazing!!! The cooks put out the meals quickly and everything is hot and delicious.

The best pumpkin french toast with fresh pumpkin! The wait staff is super attentive and customers are friendly! Can't wait to go again for lunch!

Never dissapoints! Good old fashion diner food. We tried the cinnamon roll...omgosh! So good! The community seating is fun and the service is great! You may have tovwait 10mins for a table, but worth the wait. That is why it is so busy.

A small breakfest joint that serves large portions and good food. Huge menu, and fast friendly service. We arrived on a Thursday at 6:30 am and the place was packed in less than an hour. Will return....

Sandy's is a basic diner. No thrills. The house hot coffee was good. The french toast was dry and thin like it was pressed on the grill with a spatula. I like a more fluffy and eggy french toast. The homefries were bland. We also got a small cinnamon roll for the table. It was pretty big, but it was bland and so dry. The only thing that saved it was the massive amount of icing poured on it. The table next to us got the larger cinnamon roll, and it was gigantic. Pricing was reasonable. The coffee service was great. The servers came by plenty of times for refills. I live 20 mins away but was in the area for archery. I definitely wouldn't go out of my way to return.

Amazing! We had the hangover skillet and it was great. Our waitress was one of the best we have ever had. Our coffee never got below 3/4 empty, she was able to explain what the dish was, how the eggs would be at over medium. Great experience. Highly recommend. Also, cinnamon roll is a must if you have a sweet tooth!!

It was so good we went back a second time! Our waiter Yuri was the best! Tony the chef came out and talked to us. We talked about our different recipes. Guy Fieri needs to visit! Hidden jem by Peterson space Force Base. Best bacon I've ever had in a restaurant. The staff is always nice and if you sit at the regulars table the conversation will always entertain.

First timers! The food was great, and very affordable. The biscuits and pancakes are the best! Everything was a hit!! They even gave us fresh baked cookies! Yummy! Thank you Yuri, our server! We will be back next weekend. Thank you, SANDY's crew. Definitely check them out!

Great service! Delicious food! We always get our food fast and warm!!! This place is amazing!

Very disappointed. Walked in this morning with my two young children. The sign at the door said to "seat yourself," so we did. The two servers up behind the bar seen us, and immediately gave us dirty looks. I'm guessing it was because the only table available, was dirty. But we didn't mind. We knew the server would come wipe it down. Instead, she came and took the trash, didn't greet us, and gave us a dirty look, like she didn't want us there. So we got up and left. I've been here many times, and have never received that kind of service. I will not be back. It was very hurtful for my kids and I to be treated that way.

I can here with my mom. I remember coming here years ago and hated it because you could still smoke in a restaurant (obviously a long time ago). Man I wish I came back. What a great place. I can see how it can get super busy due to the limited seating. I was super impressed with the portions of food. Got a cinnamon roll to go and they gave me an extra one for the wait. Great service and good food. I will come back (prob not on a weekend)

I love Sandy's for breakfast. I usually get the hangover skillet or the hasty burrito throw in a order of sausage and gravy with biscuits. You got good food there highly recommended.

Food was good. Prepared fast and generous portions. We got the Hangover scramble but over hash browns. Waitress was very friendly and kept our coffees full. She even gave us one to go. We did get to try the famous cinnamon roll (plate sized) it was good warmed up with a lot of what tasted like cream cheese frosting. I couldn't imagine a skillet sized one lol.

Staff members are zeroed in on taking care of you. A recent negative response about poor service isn't the norm. They must've had invisible ink smeared on themselves or had their expectations set out of bounds. Food was great! Cozy is mentioned in some other reviews, which is correct from their 10 spot community tables (3) they have in the middle of their dinning area. If you're not into sitting next to stranger, then your wait might longer for a booth or table along the outside walls. No worries for most including myself. They also have a 6 or 7 stool counter seating available that locals enjoy using as well. It's a great place to socialize whether your from the area or not. The only slight negative I will mention is from an acoustical standpoint, but my hearing isn't as good as it use to be.

Great place haven't been there in many years just because its a little out of the way. Very happy to stop in with my son on a very cold afternoon. We both got the ranch chicken quesadilla and they were very tasty. We topped it off with a huge yummy cinnamon roll thanks

First time here! Delicious food! I ordered the veggie omelet and it did not disappoint, tons of veggies! We also ordered the cinnamon roll bc my daughter said it is iconic. My sakes! It's a MONSTER! The decor is cute and country! I need to go back just to read all the stuff! The service....OUTSTANDING!

Our family members told us about this little diner so we decided to try it on one of the mornings we were on our own. They were right...little diner with that old hometown feel. They offer three community tables as well as other seating and counter seating. We both decided to go with traditional breakfasts, I ordered a hamburger patty, two eggs over medium along with extra crispy home fries. Overall an ok breakfast...the patty lacked seasoning; the eggs were cooked perfectly so that when you broke the yolk, it ran onto the patty (I always stack my eggs on top of my patty!); the home fries were were cooked perfect, although I added salt and pepper (they had no seasoning either). Wife had the the half of a veggie omelet, which was full of a variety of vegetables but the eggs were a bit over cooked. She had the hash browns, extra crispy and although they lacked seasoning, they were so crispy on the outside and creamy on the inside. I had marble rye toast with my order and the toast was cooked well but there wasn't much butter on it...yes! I could have asked for additional butter but I didn't. We also ordered a small oatmeal, which came with raisins and a lot!!! of cinnamon! And of course we had to try the cinnamon roll, which was big, covered with frosting. Sweet but we found the actual roll a bit dry. And again...I'm aware that all of these are preferences of the individual eater! My biggest reason for the three is just the overall lack of seasoning we found on all of the food. My wife ordered hot tea and was presented a huge tea box that had a great selection of teas! Overall a good experience and we could see why it would be a local favorite.

Came here with some coworkers this morning & we all absolutely loved it! VERY cheap and fair prices as well, especially considering how great the portion sizes are. Their home fries are to die for & will certainly be coming back! Their restaurant is very clean, has a very military friendly environment here as well & their parking is massive! So you won't have a hard time getting yourself and family a spot to visit this great restaurant! Highly recommend. Loved the customer service here as well & we were checked on at least every 10 minutes to ensure we had what we needed.

Got the Mexican sunrise. Eggs were completely overcooked and unflavored. The green chili was mediocre. Hashbrowns were undercooked. Love the service and vibe of the place but the food was just bad. Would be willing to try again with a different dish but do not get the Mexican sunrise.

Super busy! Prices on the high side. Quality was mid. Service is great. Cozy and buzzing inside. My friend got a reuben sandwich, and he said it wasn't great. It is expensive for mid quality food. I ordered a chicken steak, and it was tasty but rubbery. The sausage gravy over biscuits was priced well, but it came out late, and when it did, it was literally cold. The sausage gravy was almost sausage free and nearly flavorless. Coffee refills came out quick, but there wasn't any nonflavored creamer. Quite noisy. If you are sensitive to cold, do not sit near the door in the cold months, it was freezing, and the door is openong every 5 minutes. The parking lot was packed.

Had a late (1045ish) breakfast here this morning and absolutely can recommend. There was about a 15 minute wait, which was well worth it. Be prepared, the portions are large, especially if you're ordering the cinnamon roll. Also saw large waffles and more. For my vegetarian friends, I had the huevos rancheros, ask for it with the roasted red salsa that has some grilled onions in it. And being a former San Antonioan, I was impressed with the beans as well. The green chili does have pork and one of the other salsas has chicken broth, so help your server out by letting them know if you're ordering vegetarian My hubby got a benedict and subbed mushrooms for the ham, and also was pleased. We both liked the coffee as well. Appreciated the helpful and friendly service. The environment is diner style and you might meet new friends if you're seated at one of the large tables.

Comfort food for sure.... Would definitely recommend a visit. The cinnamon roll is humongous.

A friend told me about this place so if you know me I went to try it. it was very welcoming and really full. Cozy I would say more. Restrooms were clean & service was on point. I really enjoyed my food& as a bonus I was offered a big cinnamon roll for being my first time there. It was hot & yummy! Prices were very affordable! Definitely going back!

Best break place ive ever been to! servers were so nice and fast to serve us even with the place being packed we sat down within 5 minute. Food is delicious and hot, and vibe is amazing. They come around to tables with FREE COOKIES on the weekend!

It was crowded, because people love to eat here. The staff is friendly, and the food is generous and good value for the price. One star off because their Ruben sandwich doesn't have sauerkraut. That may seem like a small detail, but it's a classic recipe.

Great food and great service. Loved the homemade cinnamon rolls! The decor is very comfy and you have many sitting options. The menu also provides a lot of options especially for breakfast.

First of all the place is awesome from the outside and when you walk in, it's like being at moms house at thanksgiving with long tables for groups (kids and grandkids) and booths (grown ups) on the side. Service was fantastic and food came out very fast. So o shouldn't have eaten this much but my brother sort of laid down a challenge by showing me what I eventually ordered. I had the Mexican Sunrise which is Two Flour tortillas, wrapped around six scrambled eggs, smothered in homemade green chili, (or spicy vegetarian Diablo chili) topped with cheddar cheese. Served with fresh hash browns. The green chili was very good as were the country potatoes. Yes, I ate the whole thing. Our mom didn't raise no quitter. I would be a regular at the place if I lived here.

if you guys are looking for a down home place to eat this place is the spot with incredible portions amazing cinnamon rolls and a friendly staff that goes out of the way to make sure you have a great visit. Do not sleep on this place.

As others have advised, if you want to dine in, make reservations. Hubby and I didn't have one, but we ordered from the counter and ate at an outside picnic table. I ordered the #1 breakfast special that day: SOS with an egg. I grew up eating SOS on biscuits with white beef-sausage gravy, so I was a little taken aback by the look of this one, which was browned gravy on sweet sliced bread. The egg was good, but I wouldn't recommend the sweet SOS. The bacon was tasty. This was one of our first breakfasts back in the U.S., so we were laughed at the size of the "small" coffee, which wasn't small at all. I was also surprised by the use of plastic and styrofoam packaging. In the to-go bag were lots of excess plastic forks, knives, napkins, salt, and pepper packets. It's pretty tough to move around the dining room because of the number of tables and chairs blocking pathways, so in this time of COVID, I might recommend ordering ahead and dining outside with the nice view of Pikes Peak.

This was the first stop we made in Colorado and I was sooo happy! Their breakfast was fantastic, I had the breakfast tacos (and a side order of biscuits and gravy) and my gf had the breakfast burger. Everything was so. good. Service was quick and friendly :) will definitely stop in if we are in town!

The food is fantastic, great prices, portion sizes are generous. We usually order the hangover skillet, hot honey chicken and waffles, plate size cinnamon rolls. They are local and homemade a lot of food choices. The staff is fantastic! Sam definitely takes care of his staff! This place will not disappoint. Recommend by Facebook: (when available) recommend the brisket hash and the jalapeno cream cheese pastry! Wow so good!!!!
