Friendly and welcoming staff. We were lucky enough to have an amazing view from our pitch. Has a pub on site which does food. We had the chicken curry and rice which was nice but a little pricey for what it was. Apart from that, the pub was great. Has a TV and the barman put the football on for us after seeing us watching it on our phone. They provide blankets for your dog if you wish to sit in the carpet area of the pub. Breakfast bar did great sandwiches. Gorgeous beach right on site. Would definitely visit again!

Probably the best campsite I've stayed on, Shower and toilet facilities spotless, huge families shower room see photos, individual shower is a walk in shower with seat and a personal sink. A lovely campers kitchen for sitting and cooking, A big unit for dishwashing, A big laundry room with washing machines and dryers. The location was amazing, great views and sandy beaches crystal clear waters. Highly Recommended

We stopped here for a night in our motorhome tour doing the 500 . What an amazing location ! We were lucky to a pitch overlooking the bay which was stunning as we were very lucky with weather . It was perfect picture postcard insta !!! The whole area is lovely with some nice walks which are dog friendly and obviously the beautiful beaches . There is a craft village and Cocoa Mountain chocolate shop in walking distance and the site has a a clubhouse/pub as well . We did walk in to get a cheese toastie down the road and there is an excellent local SPAR shop which sells local produce and highly recommend as a bit of a Marks and Spar - bought Sourdough bread , local cream and yogurt plus the most delicious strawberries and raspberries . Not your average corner shop !! Had such a lovely visit - did Smoo caves and due to the weather was able to put the awning up and just chill outside overlooking the lovely view . Great to just relax and watch the sun go down. The downside was that the pitches were quite close but worth it for the view . The whole toilet block needs a major overhaul -very clean but very outdated and as others have previously commented has a strange layout whereby you can see straight into a gents urinal from the ladies toilet - very 70's French :) Staff were friendly and welcoming and it is a busy site - there was a wait for the washing up facilities . However had such a lovely stay and worth it for the sunset alone . Highly recommend.

Best location for a campsite just amazing view of the beach and rock surrounding the area. There is a very cozy pub on the place that also have food. If you can't book a spot online go there anyway they do not fully book the campsite.

Great site though very busy. Excellent access to the beach and a wild swimming heaven a 5 min walk away. Nice facilities that are well managed and clean. Spar shop 5 mins away sells pretty much everything. Fuel station opposite. Phone signal good using EE.

Wow. What a site! Sango Sands was our favourite site on the NC500. Excellent facilities, easy check in and super friendly faces. We had a pitch overlooking the beach on the cliff top. Nicely sized pitch with superb views. We ate at the restaurant which was lovely food also. 100% recommend Sango Sands!

Great campsite, views are stunning and if you are lucky to get a pitch at the front (we did) then it’s one of the best views we’ve had. Toilets are rather dated, but clean, decent bar with good selection of drinks. The bar does have a restaurant attached but when we visited in May 2025 it was only serving scampi and chips, pie and chips etc in boxes (takeaway) that you could eat in the bar. Onsite takeaway cafe open at breakfast which was nice.

One of the best campsites we have stayed at with excellent facilities. The location right next to the beach is fantastic, the bar and food were good, it's near a couple of good shops and the breakfast van was very welcome indeed and offered really tasty food. There is also a burger van and a toastie van on site. It was clean, modern and the staff were very friendly. We would certainly go back and would recommend it to anyone.

Yelp
Dog-friendly Pub with good old classics on the menu After a fantastic drive from Thurso to Durness we felt quite a bit hungry. Luckily we passed this place and headed in for lunch. There is a restaurant section and a Pub section (with tables), which does allow dogs. There are lots of good old Pub Classics on the menu, a fact I very much liked. We ordered Fish'n'Chips and a Pie with Chips (and beans). Two beer to go with. Beer was nice and cold, the portions of the meal generous. Fish was crispy and fresh, the Pie creamy and savoury. After a long drive exactly what I needed, some good old pub food. Given the remote location and the lovely Sango Bay next door the prices were really fair. Fun fact: The "Hound" from GoT was a guest here before. Check the news by the entrance.

Yelp
Sango Sands Oasis pub is pretty basic as pubs go - it reminds more of a working mans club than an old mans pub, trendy bar etc. It has 2 dartboards which we made good use of, and a pool table. The seating area is pretty big - assuming more for making space for tourists than locals - thinking that the congregation of the area would fill the place up alone. Either way, it has an array of local and standard beer, and plenty of whisky. I tucked into a Red MacGregor, from the Orkney brewery. It had me on the floor after a couple. Delicious! The restaurant itself has a bit of a horrible smell of old fat around it, but... the food itself is prepared on the premises. The thai fish cake was a traditional fish cake, but seasoned with coriander and chilli. My main of scampi and chips was a hearty portion, although I could have done without the carrots and peas that seem to have come from a tin, with subsequent loss of texture along the way. But otherwise, the food worked for us on a cold and blustery night. Service is pleasant and frequent, so our beers remained full throughout the meal. It's not going to win any awards, but it's not the worst I've ever been to either. Don't go in with high expectations and you will not be disappointed.

Yelp
We weren't expecting much. Just pub food. But we were extremely disappointed. The food was bland and we couldn't even finish our meals.

Yelp
The baked potatoes are excellent. The place is not fancy but you will get a solid meal at a good price. I would happily eat here again.
