Amazing location overlooking the bay and beautiful beach. Facilities were excellent with great showers. We had hard standing , EHU pitch and it was fairly flat. Grass pitches were also available. We have a T6 and always sleep in the pop top, but it was so windy on the nights we were there that we slept on the downstairs bed instead (and it was fine after that). Had the most amazing view of the sun coming up over the cliff in the morning. A beautiful site.

We were lucky enough to get a top pitch and the views were outstanding. Very busy campsite, two shops within walking distance. Breakfast bar was great! Shower facilities were good. Other attractions like Smoo cave within walking distance.

This is one of the prettiest places to camp! We had a pitch over looking the whole of Sango Bay and the view was incredible. |We had glorious weather and spent the afternoon on the beach which is one of the best we’ve ever been to, clear and clean water and soft golden sands! |We appreciated the family shower it made life so much easier, saying that I also used the unisex block in the morning and felt perfectly safe! |We had dinner from the on-site pub (chips and curry sauce) it was delicious and the breakfast from the breakfast bar was just as good, bacon and sausages of great quality! |We highly recommend this site - especially the sunrise that’s something not to miss!

Absolutely perfect, lovely views from the campsite and a nice easy walk down to the beach. Staff were incredibly welcoming and helpful. We stayed in a tent this time and can’t wait to return with the camper van for a cliff top pitch! Facilities were really nice as well, it was very busy when we stayed but we never had to queue for a toilet or shower as there were plenty and they were very clean and the shower block is nice and modern! Also great having the bar and restaurant right next door. Can’t wait to return!

Most stunning campsite ever! Beautifully kept with good amount of hot water. The family bathrooms were really helpful with a little one. |The beach was stunning, and easy to access from the campsite.|Yummy breakfast rolls were much appreciated after a swim in the sea. |Extremely friendly staff who made us feel welcome as soon as arrived. Best campsite!

Such a gem of a campground! Great and friendly staff, nice facilities with showers that feel like having an own bathroom, plugs for hairdryers outside the showers, a pup that belongs to the campground as well as a breakfast bar in the morning (with good coffee). One of the nicest beaches I have seen in walking distance. Can only recommend this place!

NC500 stop over at the nearby camping site and visited the oasis for a drink and food. The managers Kingsley and Amy are great , friendly people. A range of beers but best of all is the whiskey tasting. A choice of two , both based on the NC500 route of distilleries. One is a range of whiskies and the second six 18 year olds. Excellent value and a fun way to experience and taste the highland distilled waters. Kingsley did threaten to sing some Scottish songs, but apparently only at weekends,or was it only days with an r in it! Food is fair and fast food

Having stayed at Inverness and John O Groats, the facilities are not up to the level as the other two. They are decent, cleanliness wise its average. But I believe its quite a popular spot. The location is brilliant however. Right next to the wonderful beach.

Yelp
Dog-friendly Pub with good old classics on the menu After a fantastic drive from Thurso to Durness we felt quite a bit hungry. Luckily we passed this place and headed in for lunch. There is a restaurant section and a Pub section (with tables), which does allow dogs. There are lots of good old Pub Classics on the menu, a fact I very much liked. We ordered Fish'n'Chips and a Pie with Chips (and beans). Two beer to go with. Beer was nice and cold, the portions of the meal generous. Fish was crispy and fresh, the Pie creamy and savoury. After a long drive exactly what I needed, some good old pub food. Given the remote location and the lovely Sango Bay next door the prices were really fair. Fun fact: The "Hound" from GoT was a guest here before. Check the news by the entrance.

Yelp
Sango Sands Oasis pub is pretty basic as pubs go - it reminds more of a working mans club than an old mans pub, trendy bar etc. It has 2 dartboards which we made good use of, and a pool table. The seating area is pretty big - assuming more for making space for tourists than locals - thinking that the congregation of the area would fill the place up alone. Either way, it has an array of local and standard beer, and plenty of whisky. I tucked into a Red MacGregor, from the Orkney brewery. It had me on the floor after a couple. Delicious! The restaurant itself has a bit of a horrible smell of old fat around it, but... the food itself is prepared on the premises. The thai fish cake was a traditional fish cake, but seasoned with coriander and chilli. My main of scampi and chips was a hearty portion, although I could have done without the carrots and peas that seem to have come from a tin, with subsequent loss of texture along the way. But otherwise, the food worked for us on a cold and blustery night. Service is pleasant and frequent, so our beers remained full throughout the meal. It's not going to win any awards, but it's not the worst I've ever been to either. Don't go in with high expectations and you will not be disappointed.

Yelp
We weren't expecting much. Just pub food. But we were extremely disappointed. The food was bland and we couldn't even finish our meals.

Yelp
The baked potatoes are excellent. The place is not fancy but you will get a solid meal at a good price. I would happily eat here again.
