My first night in Lisbon, I needed dinner but I didn't want to venture too far. I found this place on the map, but I was skeptical since it wasn't on the "best of" lists that circulate about the city. I was worried the mushroom theme might not deliver, but I love mushrooms so I decided to give it a try.
I was blown away by this meal! First of all, both servers were so nice and accommodating of the little Portuguese I know (and they spoke to me in English.)
I started with mushroom pate, which was so flavorful and meaty (without any meat.) the portion was way too big for one person, and I was sad that I couldn't finish it all. I had to save room for the mushroom ravioli though. Oh my god, these were so good. The sauce was so savory and mushroomy, and there were whole trumpet mushrooms on top of each stuffed pasta. I relished eating this dish.
After all of that, I was very full, but I had to try the mushroom gelato with mushroom caramel. So delicious and unexpected--my mouth is watering just thinking about it. In a warm, homemade waffle bowl, this was the perfect dessert.
This place deserves more press than it gets. It is a must go if you're in Lisbon (and if you like mushrooms, of course).
