The Santa Fe Botanical Garden was a lovely and peaceful experience. Not bad for 15$. The layout of the gardens was beautiful, blending native plants with artistic elements and scenic walking paths. I took a guided tour, and our guide was knowledgeable, friendly, and clearly passionate about the landscape and local ecology. Their insight really added depth to the visit. One of the highlights was spotting some local wildlife along the way, which made the experience feel even more connected to nature. It was a great way to enjoy the outdoors while learning about the unique flora of the region. I would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Santa Fe who enjoys gardens, nature, or a quiet, educational escape.

Very nice! Was surprised about the detailed and well presented flora! The layout of the garden is great and easy to walk. Plenty of benches, some shaded, some with tables. Would definitely recommend to visit! You can see many local plants as well as art pieces.

My husband and I loved this garden! Don't miss the tour. We had a tour guide that was knowledgeable and had a passion for the region. We learned many things we didn't know! The down side is that they had porta-potties. You can easily spend an hour here and see the garden, go on the tour and then use the restroom somewhere else!

While I want to support our local places, I don’t think they have enough plants and flowers. We went through in about thirty minutes. We did enjoy an extra event watching a wedding rehearsal. This kept us entertained. I was also surprised they did not offer a senior discount…the $15.00 entrance fee is a bit steep for what we saw. I do have to commend them tho for keeping the ground’s extremely clean!

Thank you to Carol for making our experience wonderful. My family and I enjoyed walking around the garden. Be sure to be there at opening (9am). Carol kindly gave us recommendations to other Santa Fe gems. Had a great time.

Santa Fe Botanical Garden Review R Rewrite please The Santa Fe Botanical Garden is a small botanical garden on 20 acres. Artwork is displayed throughout the garden, which was nice. I especially enjoyed the Orchard area, with different types of trees. There is a vintage red bridge that was built in the 1950's. There were walking paths throughout the gardens. My two cons were lack of nice bathrooms- only outhouse style and the size of small for the admission price of $15.00. The integration of artwork throughout the space creates an engaging cultural dimension that enhances the natural beauty. The Orchard stands out as a particular highlight, showcasing a diverse collection of fruit trees that provides both educational value and seasonal interest. The garden's crown jewel is undoubtedly the striking red bridge, a vintage structure dating back to the 1950s that serves as both a functional crossing and a photogenic focal point. Well-maintained walking paths wind throughout the property, making it easy to explore the various themed areas at a leisurely pace. The layout encourages discovery while ensuring accessibility for visitors of different mobility levels. However, the garden does have some limitations worth noting. The restroom facilities are quite basic, consisting only of portable facilities rather than proper indoor bathrooms, which may be inconvenient for some visitors. Additionally, while the garden is pleasant, the $15 admission fee feels somewhat steep given the relatively compact size of the grounds. Overall, the Santa Fe Botanical Garden provides a peaceful retreat with artistic flair, though visitors should adjust their expectations based on the scale and amenities relative to the entry cost.

Beautiful flowers and different native plants to this area. The art work through out the garden is amazing.

Though modest in scale, the Santa Fe Botanical Garden offers a meaningful experience that celebrates Southwest flora. It’s beautifully designed with native plants and thoughtfully placed art my favorite was one of a bear see if you can find them when you visit. The staff is very welcoming and informative we were able to find all the trail checklist items for an activity and got a special prize, as an adult I had too much fun with my mother checking off each item when we would spot it so I recommend you ask the staff about this activity. While I didn’t take the guided tour, my mother and I enjoyed a peaceful walk through the piñon-juniper woodland setting. It’s a perfect 1–2 hour visit and close to Santa Fe’s plaza to be able to get drinks and lunch after! I recommend going especially in the spring or summer I’ve been told early June is the best time to walk around! I added a photo of one of my favorite flowers in the garden!

Yelp
Really enjoyed our time here. It wasn't too large, but it made for a great way to start a Sunday morning- opens at 9. Really enjoyed the sculptures scattered through the gardens. Stop by the tour guide to ask what we needed to know for a good visit. He was delightful giving us some insight on agave and junipers. Nice little fun facts :) Kinda wish the gift shop had plants, my favorite plants have come from botanical gardens I've visited. Did enjoy the stickers and postcards they had

Yelp
This botanical garden is so cute. Lots of lovely flowers of all kinds. They also have beautiful Native American inspired artwork and sculptures. It's a little under a mile to complete the entire trail with plenty of benches to sit throughout. Gorgeous garden. It costs $15 for adults which isn't bad but a little pricey for how small the garden is. They have water fill stations throughout so be sure to bring your refillable water bottle.

Yelp
A truly beautiful and divine location! If you are looking for a place to both rest and relax, this is it! Surrounding yourself with lots of flowers, hummingbirds, and learning along the way! The staff is phenomenal as well, both friendly and helpful! Enjoy!

Yelp
Lovely Botanical Garden. We took a stroll in May and enjoyed it. It was nice learning about the high desert plants and how indigenous use the plants. They have a store, programs, and tours.

Yelp
We wanted to have a nature experience and didn't want to take the time to drive out of town so decided to spend some time in this garden. They're part of a reciprocal garden program that I belong to so we got in free which was nice. Due perhaps to the time of year we didn't see much that was very interesting or blooming but we did see some birds, and enjoyed the different sculptures throughout.
google avatar

Jon T.

Yelp
The garden showcases all the plants that call the area home. It's easy walk with mountain views and areas to sit. There are displays with interesting information about the plants and uplifting stories from the people who have lived in the region for generations. There's also a gift shop. Definitely a great way to spend a morning or afternoon while visiting Santa Fe.

Yelp
We didn't expect to see so many plants in the garden. It's the desert after all! The staff was friendly inside the building. We didn't see many people in the garden. It wasn't too hot yet. There were many statues throughout the garden to find. They had a nice venue for maybe a band or presentation, too. The cacti were cool to see along with all the various plant life. I can't imagine having to water many of these plants! Some great views!
google avatar

Katie N.

Yelp
Compared to other gardens that I have been to across the country, this one was very small. It took only about an hour to walk through. They do offer reciprocal admission if you are a member at another garden in US. They also have sculptures which were cool.

Yelp
It was a peaceful experience that I enjoyed. I frequent Santa Fe, but never knew about this place until recently. I will come back next year

Yelp
We came to the Santa Fe botanical garden on Monday morning. It was lovely to walk around the gardens and enjoy the local plants and sculpture. This was a great way to relax, unwind, be in nature and learn about the local wildlife. Be sure to wear good shoes and stop by their gift shop for some mementos!

Yelp
It's an okay botanical garden, I'd rather go to the one in Salt Lake City or even the Dallas arboretum. Both of those locations are huge and worth the cost. The Santa Fe Botantical garden is a bit overpriced for its size. The walking trail is pretty near. Make sure to bring water! And I found it fascinating that Datura is growing wild in the garden. Wasn't expecting that at all! But other wise you can see lots of varieties of cacti just walking around New Mexico for free.

Brenda L.

Yelp
The gardens were just beginning to bloom. The information about the plants and trees was informative. The sculptures added to the garden's charm. This was a relaxing experience.

Yelp
This is a true botanical garden - both educational and beautiful. I've visited Santa Fe a lot but don't know the flowers & shrubs, so it was great to be able to learn what's what. I finally figured out that the pretty tree outside my brother's house was a golden raintree. The culinary & herb gardens were fascinating (the sign about Datura is a lovely description of the work of a curandera). The photographs describing the pinyon & juniper landscape along with the pinyon jay were lovely. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. I appreciate that they are part of the American Horticultural Society's reciprocal admissions program. Highly recommended.

Yelp
Such a cute and beautiful Botanical Garden! Lots of lovely plants and architectural displays that are unique to New Mexico with lots of information about each and every one of them for those who enjoy reading all about everything there is to know. The staff was also so kind and knowledgeable about the garden. Props to the volunteer who genuinely enjoyed being there and sharing his knowledge with guests. One part about the garden that I liked the best was a whole section where you can choose several different trails to venture off on your own adventure, yet it loops around back to where everyone would return to. It felt like I went on a whole hike to find all sorts of plants, bugs, lizards, and more! So fun!

Eri S.

Yelp
Enjoyed so much... but def bring ice water and try to come when they first open if you're coming in the hot months. Otherwise, pacing and taking mini breaks in the shade is key. There are many mini garden areas, some have more trees/shade. People working there were knowledgeable and insightful - they were restoring an oven when I was there. Would go again for the morning guided tour.

K L.

Yelp
A little hidden gem, definitely worth a walk about. I have been to Santa Fe numerous times and never knew about this place. I will definitely go every time I'm visiting.

Yelp
Chris and I visited this garden for a late morning visit. The location is adjacent to Museum Hill in Santa Fe. We recommend visiting the gardens in the morning before the heat intensifies. Once your visit is complete have lunch at the museum cafe and then visit the four adjacent museums. Parking is free in the dirt parking area. Admission is inexpensive and paid in the small trailer that also serves as the gift shop. We found the gardens to be spectacular!! Amazing plants and flowers!! Hummingbirds and other birds and wildlife were abundant. Our visit in August provided lots of colorful flowers. We spent two hours walking and sitting in various locations. The volunteer staffers were friendly and knowledgeable. My only quibble is the lack of real full service bathrooms. It appears that they only have porta potties. We highly recommend this garden!!

Yelp
As a wheelchair user, I was not able to enter this location. We tried to visit the day after it snowed to see the local growth covered in snow because we expected it to be beautiful. We got there right when they opened at 10 and they had not shoveled any snow out of the walkways. This made it impossible for me to visit in my wheelchair and I find it grossly irresponsible because even able bodied guests could slip and injure themselves. I am INCREDIBLY disappointed that they did not plan for this and have someone come in the day before or a couple hours before opening to manage the walkways.

Yelp
Beautiful, absolutely beautiful displays of local art (statuary) as well as indigenous plants. Everything was well labeled and the docents were knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. My husband and I saved a few dollars on admission because we're "over 65." I can see that some people might appreciate a bigger garden but we both have mobility issues, so this was just the right size for us.
google avatar

Heather T.

Yelp
This is a very small botanical gardens. It is located near museum hill so I'd recommend doing a stroll though the gardens and then hitting up a museum to make it worth your while. I have no problem paying the entrance fee to give them a boost of income to help their garden.

Yelp
My wife and I visited the Santa Fe Botanical Garden recently October 2022). It is a great place to spend some time. Beautifully cared for and well manicured. A must visit for anyone spending time in the area. Great plants, flowers and art work throughout. My only other comment is that the area visitor information centers (which were absolutely terrific in guiding us to many other sights to see and visit) seemed to be unaware of the Botanical Garden or the museums located on Museum Hill. That was curious because they were so helpful otherwise. We located the Garden on our own thankfully on our last full day in Santa Fe.
google avatar

Michael M.

Yelp
We went in February and had a great visit. There was a art exhibit also. A docent was friendly and most knowledgeable.

Christine R.

Yelp
We loved our visit. We belong to a reciprocal garden in our area so we got in for free. There was beautiful glass sculpture on exhibit when we went which enhanced the experience. The docent was friendly as well. We visited when they opened before the day got too hot. Well worth it and peaceful.

Yelp
A great place to visit in Santa Fe. Pretty Mountain Views. Great colorful flowers. It's a wonderful place to walk. Its a must see place.
google avatar

Lan S.

Yelp
The Santa Fe Botanical Garden on Museum Hill is, in its present iteration, only about 2 1/2 years old. It's worth seeing now, for its collection of local plants and trees, and for its unusual orchard where fruit trees that can tolerate Santa Fe's arid climate and cold winters have been planted. But it's also worth visiting and supporting for what it will become. Construction of phase 2 is now well under way. In a few years, this will be one of Santa Fe's top sights.

Lily S.

Yelp
The gardens were absolutely beautiful, the plants were all clearly labeled with their names, but also where they naturally originate from. I could tell we were in the right spot because the woman working the visitor center was extremely knowledgeable about the actual gardens and plants themselves. She was able to answer our questions and helped us learn more about the indigenous uses of the plants as well. I look forward to coming back and seeing more as the piñon trail grows!
google avatar

Maddie M.

Yelp
Beautiful garden with a wide variety of plants. We had a tour from Terry the garden volunteer and he was great! He was entertaining and knowledgeable about all the plants. The tour was very interactive and informative and made the garden experience much more rewarding. We learned so much. Thanks!

Linda S.

Yelp
The visit was short and sweet but I wished it had an acre or two more. The sculptures were outstanding. To see Allan Houser sculpture made my morning. (Picture)

Tina P.

Yelp
This garden isn't large but it is thoughtfully laid out, filled with beautiful sculptures, and we enjoyed the peaceful environment. As somewhat new homeowners from the Pacific NW, we were inspired by the garden and gleaned many ideas to apply in our own garden at home. The woman working in the ticket office/gift shop did her job but was not friendly or inviting at all. The volunteer manning the outside booth was completely engaging, very informative, and we had a lovely conversation about gardening and Santa Fe. My guess is children, and adults with no interest in gardening and/or a short attention span, won't appreciate this as a 'real' attraction but we did, and I'd recommend it for a nice nature walk to view some local flora.
google avatar

Kathy K.

Yelp
The Santa Fe Botanical Garde has 3 sites, the new Museum Hill Botanical Garden, the Ortiz Mountain Nature Preserve (was the old Cunningham Gold Mining area), and the Leonora Curtain Wetland Preserve. All three are a MUST see if you are visiting with children! The SFBG is focused on community education and creating sustaniable environments. You will love to walk and hike the beautiful trails - call ahead to the SFBG offices to arrange for a docent tour. An excellent way to spend the beautiful New Mexico Days!
google avatar

David E.

Yelp
Beautiful gardens, so relaxing walking around and numerous benches to enjoy the views. Helpful, friendly volunteers.

Louise S.

Yelp
Great gardens with beautiful art. The people that worked in the office were very friendly and helpful with the numerous questions we had about various plants.
google avatar

Elaine T.

Yelp
Soooo tiny. $14.00 and we covered the entire "gardens" in roughly 5 mins. So disappointed :( Has potential. Once expansions are done it may be worth the ridiculous admissions fee.
google avatar

Soobin O.

Yelp
I could not have asked for a more special day. I contacted Deirdre beforehand to plan my proposal to my fiancé, and they just made it so special. It was beautiful, pristine, and just perfect! This place forever holds a special place in my heart!
google avatar

Courtney C.

Yelp
Took our family maybe 15 minutes to walk through and cost $30 for all of us. Not much to see....nice labels on most plants but we were curious about some that weren't labeled. In all honesty I would pass on this....I appreciate the effort but we could've honestly picked a random (free) trail and seen the same landscape.
google avatar

Max N.

Yelp
So small and unrewarding as to make it a rip off. Ten dollars for a short stroll through some desert landscape and mostly unlabeled plants. There is a nice red bridge but that's it.
google avatar

Kathy M.

Yelp
We really enjoyed our visit. This is a one year old botanical garden that is a very nice place to visit. We were able to see it at no cost thanks to the reciprocal program they participate in and our membership at the Overland Park Arboretum. We caught the origami sculpture exhibit right before it was due to be removed. The artist did a wonderful job of placing the pieces in just the right areas in the garden and making our stroll that much more enjoyable. There are several signs on display showing what they hope to accomplish in the next two phases and I hope to be able to come back and check on their progress. I enjoyed seeing which plants were still in bloom and the small fairie garden that appeared to be created by children or others when visiting.

Yelp
This trip was a bust prior to me entering the gates. My family and I visited the garden at around 1:20p on 10/21/2021. There is a bench next to the entryway and I needed to wrangle my little ones to get their masks on prior to heading inside the Visitor's Center to check-in. Less than a minute later, an older lady with shoulder length hair came out of the door. She jolted back when she saw me gathered near the bench to get everything ready to go inside the Visiter's Center. For some reason, she assumed my little ones and I were going to attempt to walk into the garden without checking in. She was taken aback to see us at the bench and knew she looked silly, so she froze, and backed back into the Visiter's Center. I was stunned at how judgmental and accusatory this untrained worker/volunteer is. Why would you have someone at the front desk that acts in this manner? It soured my whole trip there, and this lady needs to be re-trained and reprimanded for her prejudiced behavior. Am I not allowed time to get my family's masks on prior to this terrible person assuming I'm sneaking in? My words are strong because I cannot stand planning to have a nice day out and then encountering prejudiced people whose parents did not raise them right; its traumatizing to say the least.

Yelp
Easy to find. It was okay but very small. Was under construction so I'm sure it's going to be awesome later. Admissions was just 7$ got adults. But it took us maybe 30-35 minutes to look at every thing. The blooming flowers were

Yelp
I WANT MY MONEY BACK! Sorry to be a hater but it is a complete rip off. My girlfriend and I went to the GLOW event here a few days after Christmas and spent $20 to see a few lights on a couple of trees. If you want to see some real christmas lights during the holidays in Santa Fe save your money and go to city plaza in the middle of town, there you will see a bunch of huge tress all lit up with Christmas lights. Sorry to give such a low rating but the Botanical Garden is in a word - ROBERY!

Patricia F.

Yelp
The Glow should be 1 dollar maximum! I paid 10 box to see nothing! Took me 5 minutes to walk around and see a poor lazer and light show! A 2 years old kid can do better. Shame!!!

Kalene K.

Yelp
The trail didn't take but 15 minutes to walk through but the flowers and sculptures were beautiful. They were undergoing construction the day we went. Grab a yellow umbrella to protect against the sunrays and make sure to stop and smell the honeysuckles
google avatar

Travis H.

Yelp
So, part of my negativity is my fault. I visited a desert garden in April when it was dry and just starting to come out, so I totally accept the blame for that. I do think that seven dollars is a little high to charge when nothing is in bloom, but it does go to to a good cause. The statues were impressive and the staff was really nice. Would love to come back and visit when the new section is complete.

Yelp
The Garden was in impeccable condition last weekend & it shows that this place is well taken care. The grasses, 'steppables' & fruit trees caught our attention along with the trees & shrubs all in Fall color. The sculptor on exhibit was origami artist Kevin Box& his work was nicely placed in the gardens. Existing sculptures are very appealing, too. Only negative comment is that we wanted to see more! The garden is expanding, so we'll have to check back.
google avatar

Robert G.

Yelp
You can tell it is relatively new, maybe an acre currently open. Very nice, but not worth the $7 admission per person.
google avatar

Ira L.

Yelp
Small botanical gardens that is growing very well. Very helpful staff that are more than willing to help in any way. I have been to many botanical gardens and am awaiting the expansion of this great place.

Yelp
I have visited botanical gardens all over the United States. This was the worst and the smallest. I saw a better variety of plants, and more of them on the hiking trail of my current RV park. Yes, it was clean and neat... It should be with only about an acre developed. May be a nice place to get married or to make a proposal, otherwise save your money.
