12 Best Things to Do in Santa Fe

"If you're standing in the Railyard District on a Saturday morning, hopefully your feet are planted at the Santa Fe Farmers' Market; a lively, year-round spot where stands of leafy greens, potatoes, carrots, mushrooms, tomatoes and Northern New Mexican chiles (of all shapes, colors and sizes) dazzle local shoppers. Inside a modern interior, you’ll find everything else you could imagine: grass-fed meats, honey, jams, flowers and cheese – some of which is sustainable and organic. There are also baked good vendors with tasty green-chile bread and sausage breakfast burritos. An outpost of the uber-popular Clafoutis is a must for French breads, pastries and sweets. Meanwhile, a small designated cafe serves Whoo's Donuts (try the blue corn lavendar) paired with local organic Aroma Coffee. On Sundays you'll find an artisan market alongside local musicians and entertainment for young ones." - Kate Donnelly

Google
This is an incredible place to begin your day if you find yourself on the market day. You can indulge in a delightful breakfast and immerse yourself in the local offerings, including art, pottery, and native jewelry, as well as an array of vegetables, spices, and baked goods. Additionally, this place provides an opportunity to stroll to the Santa Fe train station, where you can explore various shops and cafes along the way. I highly recommend visiting this place.

Google
Must do on the weekend in Santa Fe to get fresh local in-season produce, as well as art and other packaged goodies.

Google
I try to get there every Saturday we are in town. Foods, produce, art, baked goods, plant & flowers. The traffic is thick and parking is at a premium but well worth the effort

Google
Tons of local produce, art, and food vendors. One of the best things I tried was a blue corn pupusa topped with green chile and a poached egg, stuffed with beans and cheese. Highly recommend checking out the Santa Fe Farmers Market!

Google
This is by far the best farmers market I've been to - maybe one of the best, period. Open every Saturday, you'll find a wonderful variety of vegetables, fruit, meat, plants, baked goods and food products, food stands as well as shops with locally-oriented products and an Artist Market during the summer. Nearby are a great ice cream shop, a great pizza place, a coffee house and two microbreweries. Great place, whether visiting the city or a "native!"

Google
The fresh market area was fairly small but had lots of variety, from fresh meats, bread, vegetables and fruits, seasonings, specialty items, etc. The location itself is right at the railyard and is a beautiful spot. There was an indoor market area as well, which had lots of artwork, jewelry, home decor, metalwork, and many other items. We spent about two hours in the market area before going to other places in the area. It's definitely worth a stop if you're nearby. Just make sure to note the days and hours they are open.

Google
I've been all over the world and more parts than most in the United States. This is one of the most socially pleasant, family friendly, and varied farmers market I've ever been to. The vendors are kind and friendly, the prices fair and reasonable, and just in general there is and air of friendliness that just exudes the area. You would me remiss to miss such an opportunity.

Google
Good selection on fresh vegetables and products. Pricing is "normal" for farmer market and not super over pricing. It is one of the best farmers market i have been to so far. Spacious and not crowded between the vendor. Variety of local products. Not large but have all the things you want for a farmers market. There is an ATM in the middle in case you need more cash.

Yelp
Love, love, love the Santa Fe Farmers market. Fresh is the name of the game! The most fun you can have shopping outside! The vendors are friendly and make sure you get all you've come for!
google avatar

Yelp
This is for the gift shop. We were told items were by local artists. I looked up the tea towel I bought and they are made in San Diego CA. I'm a native Californian so it doesn't surprise me as it's the land of pretentiousness but having lived in NM for almost 4 years it's the lying that bothers me. And shame on me for not checking also which is why it's 2 and not 1 star. I do like the vendors many of whom are at the larger Albuquerque Railyards market. They have good stuff.

Yelp
Fantastic farmers market - for locals and tourists! We were in town and went to the Farmers Market on Tuesday morning. A good selection of produce and handmade goods. We got breakfast burritos, tried our first blueberry blue corn donut, and coffees. All delicious! We will absolutely be back next time we are in Santa Fe!

Yelp
The strength of any Farmers Market is seen in Winter. The Santa Fe Farmers Market exceeded expectations!
google avatar

Bonnie G.

Yelp
Could be one of the best farmer's market in America. If you go for just the hot sausage and mustard and the blue-corn donut, you'll be happy. That sausage!! But then, there's all these stands full of jewelry and art and breads and pastries and jams and such. It's a great look at the actual locals life living here and really endearing.
google avatar

Gil S.

Yelp
Great farmers market! Some of it is outdoors, and some indoors. There is also an artists market adjacent, which is different than the artists market on Sundays. There is some good food options and a variety of produce, pastries and other stuff to buy. I liked the Popusa stand, I thought their food was great.

Yelp
Minerva, my lovely new girlfriend, and I, stopped in here on a whim. We were leaving Santa Fe and saw this on the way out town. We both love farmers markets and artists markets so we weee compelled to stop. We are sure glad we did. This is a quaint little market and there is some quality stuff at great prices. I absolutely adore locally made honey and small farm goat milk soaps. I found both to be in great supply here. We bought some chilis, some soap and honey to take home. We had an amazing strawberry drink and some muffins. We also bought some bread to take home. This market is a treasure for those that live in area. We enjoyed our shopping experience immensely. The people are exceptionally nice and we both enjoyed seeing all the folks and their dogs. I love dogs......

Yelp
Beyond sausage breakfast burrito was lit (from inside stand). Also had the fresh squeezed blackberry juice that was wonderful. Good collection of local shops

Yelp
Busy and bustling, excellent baked goods and an amazing bunch of vendors and customers. We joined a group of folks at a table as we ate our amazing blueberry and lavender donuts and chatted...very welcoming! Most products were local and the imported goods were of excellent quality. Do recommend, it was our last morning in town, perfect ending to a great visit to Santa Fe!

Yelp
Such a lovely market. I was visiting from MD. Mom and I rode the Rail Runner up from Albuquerque specifically to come to the Farmers Market and it did not disappoint. There were so many nice vendors here! The best part was being able to get something hot to eat and actually sit down to eat it. There were plenty of tables and shoppers were cognizant about NOT sitting all day. We had apple cider, blue corn lavender donuts, jujubes, and all kinds of goodies. It was a great day for a Farmer's Market.
google avatar

Laura M.

Yelp
This is a real farmers' market. Local growers and bakers share their delicious food. The crafts and art are well-priced. Enjoy!
google avatar

Victoria E.

Yelp
Local artists share their wares, lots of jewelry and lotions and potions. Everyone so friendly sharing their stories and how they made their art work. We met a young lady who made a custom piece for me. Prices good and nice venue.
google avatar

Keanna M.

Yelp
A really good market! There's a nice selection of produce at this market, as well as pastries and other snacks. It's a smaller farmers market than some that I've been to, but it's got a lot of good vendors. I'm excited to visit more. Parking can be hit or miss.
google avatar

Yelp
If you have never had a blueberry lavender doughnut made from ground blue corn - you haven't lived. That was but one high point of visiting this farmer's market. All of the vendors I encountered were enthusiastic and eager to share their wares, be they locally sourced fruits and vegetables, baked goods, or works of art. There is a considerable outdoor area in the Railyard District set aside for this market, as well as a good-sized indoor space with more shops and adequate restrooms. This was a terrific way to spend a Saturday morning, and our time here was one of the highlights of visiting Santa Fe.

Yelp
Love this place. Just so full of life and energy on Saturday mornings. It's where I get many of my starts for my own garden. The various vendors are pleasant, knowledgeable, and helpful. Nice to find all sorts of varietals when it comes to stocking my own vegetable and flower gardens with starts. Over the years I believe I've found 20 to 30 different types of garlic at the farmers market from the various vendors. Chances are if it grows in these farmers gardens it's going to grow in yours and they can give you advice on how to go about ensuring success. Usually there's live music. Good coffee and various breakfast options. Hard not to run into people you know there.
google avatar

Gabrielle B.

Yelp
HUGE farmers market with indoor and outdoor booths. Great variety of arts/jewelry, produce, plants, and food. Lots of beautiful sunflowers throughout the market and live music. I got a turquoise ring I'm absolutely crazy about and haven't taken it off-only $20 which is a great value. Was so tempted to get local art! There are some great options from different mediums like pant or photography. Must see market if you're in Santa Fe.

Yelp
Probably the best farmers market I've ever been to and I like to think I'm a FM connoisseur. Tons of fresh veg and fruit, but also heritage beans and corn. Plenty of tasty options for breakfast, lunch, or to take home and have for dinner. No shortage of baked goods, herbs, and various sundries. Majority of stalls are Cash Only but there are 2 ATMs handy- use the one inside the building though bc the FM gets the fees assoc with it rather than a random bank.
google avatar

Dave B.

Yelp
Lots of food to choose from, especially bread. I ate a blue corn donut and a pistachio donut, both tasted exactly as their name suggests. Beef jerky I purchased there was also very good. It's a small space and was pretty crowded, but I suppose that's to be expected on a Saturday morning. Everyone was friendly and will take some time to enthusiastically describe their wares. Overall, it's a fine way to spend a Saturday morning in Santa Fe.

Yelp
Farmers' markets are the heart of a city's culinary pulse, where chefs get inspiration for seasonal specials and where diners can connect with the tireless farmers growing their food.  Personally I think the Santa fe farmers market is awsome and worth visiting but it is hard to park your car if you get late. It was located near a train station and combined with goods market and artist market, so there is a lot to explore. you can even adopt dogs and cats there, so interesting!
google avatar

Yoga B.

Yelp
One of my favorite places to stop when I'm in Santa Fe. Love the local foods and crafts. Great place to visit local artisans and get handmade gifts.
google avatar

Isaiah G.

Yelp
I was a tourist and always travel to farmers markets. We market on the street right by the market so they was really good. When we got there there was produce. There was only about two places were you can eat at. We got some doughnuts. You cross the railroad tracks and there were some crafts there. This market is small in my opinion and they mainly have produce. I think it would be better if we lived there but if you're a tourist you can definitely pass on this one.
google avatar

Scott L.

Yelp
Going to Farmer's Market is part of the Experience every visitor to Santa Fe must have. Also, every tourist must expect ridiculous prices. My advice: Arrive with a budget, $20.00 buys A handful of peppers, three tomatoes, three cucumbers, and focaccia bread for a great salad IF you already have oil and vinegar.
google avatar

Katie S.

Yelp
So many wonderful vendors. We went during chili season, so it smelled so good! So many beautiful colors and good music. There we a lot of options for different products, good prices, and nice people.
google avatar

Tom B.

Yelp
Lots of great stalls and stands. Good produce. Delicious food. Nice open atmosphere. Gland no dogs allowed

Yelp
This was a great stop for us on our exploring Santa Fe. We got some amazing bread and pastries here. I am sure we missed some fantastic vendors, but that just means we will need to go back. We went fairly early and it wasn't very crowded. Easiest parking is across the street in the public parking lot. Better than driving around trying to find a spot on the street.

Yelp
Wow , so so exited to recommend this pretty fab indoor / outdoor farmers market ! If you happen to be here on a Saturday morning , don't skip it , because it is worth you time to visit . It will put you in the best mood to start your day . We got there right when they opened 8 am , got coffee at Sky coffee (delicious btw) and enjoyed seeing all the fresh baked goods, fresh fruits , veggies , farm eggs, hand crafted goodies , and so much more local art !! Santa Fe has an insane about of beautiful art works everywhere you look ! We found two really great pieces of original artwork to take home with us at a much more reasonable price then at some of the art galleries we visited around town . Don't forget to try a blue corn lavender donut .. very very tasty :)

Yelp
For something that is described as a 'must see' when in Santa Fe, it was, to me, a big let down. Mind you, I was there just a week ago in prime summertime and there was not a great deal of vendors, and many sell duplicate items. We were really wanting a vendor who sold salsa, you know red & green for chips or cooking. Not a single person sold salsa, we ultimately had to go to the plaza area to find some. And, as expected, the prices are pretty high. So, unless you live locally & aren't traveling like we were and can purchase some of the fresh vegetables or flowers, or, you just enjoy walking around to have a gander, then it's not really a good use of time.
google avatar

Kristen B.

Yelp
I'm assuming it's bigger when it's not winter. However I was highly disappointed at the selection. I just moved here from Richmond VA area and there were not that many vendors and a surprising lack of vegetables. There were some radishes, honey, tomatoes, some meats, but more trinkets like jewelry or dried Chile decorations. I picked up some honey and the couple of baked goods. The breads and various baked goods were great but the main bakery shop everyone was going through was good but maybe overpriced in my opinion. I did like the lavender blue corn doughnuts I'd seen people rave about. Overall it's not a bad cute place to visit once. However, I was hoping for more a selection of veggies and just more.

Yelp
Luckily we got to visit the last market of the year on Tuesday before Thanksgiving. Excellent green chile egg and cheese croissant were served inside. Outside we bought garlic infused honey, peppers, purple potatoes, sage, and tea !!! Local coffee shop is in walking distance and ATM on site. We paid to park with our phones. Cool market.
google avatar

Daniel Z.

Yelp
We were told this market was not to be missed. Nothing extraordinary about this one compared to any other. I did get some red and green Chile seasonings. Great green Chile brat served on a stick needs to team up with guy selling mustard and bread guy for a bun. Just ok.
google avatar

Yelp
Seed the Future is a wonderful chance to visit and go behind the scenes. First we were fed coffee and delicious donuts from Whos Donuts. Then we visited three vendors who invited us to join them behind their tables where we heard about what they sell and why they sell their products. We left with a free cloth bag loaded with information about their fund raising program and their future plans to expand the market. Worth the trip.
google avatar

Karen K.

Yelp
Wonderful array of goods from veggies, spices, preserves and handmade garments. Purchased raw honey and a warm headband for my dghtr.
google avatar

Kirsten H.

Yelp
As an out-of-towner, I was initially confused when I didn't see any food vendors in the line up of white tents outside. When I traced the source of what appeared to be people walking around with breakfast burritos, I found the stalls inside that ended up being exactly what I was looking for. I got the blue corn lavender donut and egg breakfast burrito from the same vendor, and they were so, so good! I also good some green juice and beet juice, along with a beautiful dried Southwestern-themed wreath. This is a pretty great farmers market!
google avatar

Stacy A.

Yelp
If you love getting local veggies, fruits, flowers, meats, eggs, and snacks - then you've got to check out this farmer's market. There were over 20 different booths selling all sorts of things and it was amazing to walk through the market and see what everyone had to offer. I love being able to talk to the people who grew the food themselves!

Yelp
Why am I not surprised that Santa Fe has a world-class farmers market? And what a master stroke to place it in The Railyard near the train depot where the Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe used to disembark. Yep, a huffin and a puffin and away she goes... all aboard for Cali-forn-i-a! On the Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe! ...Sorry, I was channeling my inner Judy Garland, and that's so hard without my barbiturates. Anyway, the juxtaposition of fresh produce, fresh baked goods, and vintage train tracks works in this setting because they built a huge warehouse to house all the edibles. It was hard to bypass the lavender blue corn doughnuts or cherry empanadas, but the long line attested to their appeal. The blue corn pupusas sure looked good (photo: http://bit.ly/2W96nSQ), but dammit, Jamie W. and I had the complimentary waffles back at the hotel already, so all we tried were the $5 Veggie Stix in a Cup with homemade ranch dressing (photo: http://bit.ly/2Wm1hr3). Wow, those were crispy-fresh as well as guilt-free. We hardly missed the berry pies and green Chile frittatas. OK, I lied. Of course we wanted those, but it was an embarrassment of riches for sure. Besides, we gotta catch a ride on the Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe! RELATED - Do you know the way to Santa Fe? Here's a collection of places I've visited and reviewed: http://bit.ly/2I4mWdq

Yelp
The Saturday market is very nice. Busy, lots of shops to find fresh vegetables, pastries, breakfast items, art, and handmade items. There's restrooms and water refill stations. Worth checking out!

Yelp
During a weekend visit to Albuquerque, my dad mentioned that we would be making a trip to Santa Fe to go to the farmer's market. He really wanted radishes. And only radishes. But it was on our way to where we were planning on going later, so it wasn't actually out of our way to stop there. When I walked in the indoor market area....wow. All I can say is how jealous I am that I can't shop at the market every week! An indoor Farmer's Market is a treat and I wish there was a decent year-round one in my home city. It is a feast for the senses! Beautiful, fresh produce. Small locally made crafts. Fresh bread, eggs, cheese. Art, cider, samples. It is pleasantly overwhelming! And if you work up an appetite zig-zagging through folks and eye-ing all the tasty looking goods, there are ready-to-eat baked goods and coffee that can be purchased and enjoyed. We got a couple doughnuts and a scone to share and they were delicious! I wanted to try everything and buy all my groceries forever from here. My dad got his radishes and a few other goods. And we got to peruse the surrounding area that boasted a winter flea market, a small art fair, a winery, and a gift shop. Whether you are staying in Santa Fe or Albuquerque, a weekend morning spent in this area would be time well spent.

Yelp
Had a quick visit to this market before leaving Santa Fe. They have a good selection of fresh goods and delicacies. Can get crowded in the morning but it's just proof how good the products are here

Yelp
Local vendors. Great selection of local foods. Bright colors and lots of friendly faces.

Yelp
Cool setting, a nice variety of vendors and a mix of produce, dairy/meats, prepared foods, specialty items, and artisan goods, lively market scene. I appreciated the continued commitment to safety through masking and distancing. Whoo's Donuts were a standout purchase.

Yelp
This is such a great farmers market. There are lots of options for things to buy. There are also some get places to get a bit to eat. It is always fun to see what new items are in season. It is a great family atmosphere.

Yelp
Visiting from North Texas in late July and this market is filled with great produce! This time of year at home, we can't find such healthy looking vegetables. All the stands were very popular and you could tell the locals support this market! We enjoyed ourselves.

Lanell J.

Yelp
Great place to find fresh vegetables and produce, fresh baked pastries and many cakes and breads, cream cheese and quark . So many beautiful red Chile pepper arrangements and hanging Chile. I'm sure it's even better in the summer and Fall.

Yelp
Visited Santa Fe just before the summer. As always if they have a farmers market near by, I would definitely want to visit it. What better way to know about the local food and produce, if you are in luck then you are up for som informative conversations. All of them happened during my visit to Santa Fe farmers makers. Parking - it is not free and we had to drive a little bit. There are a few parking meters close by and we were fortunate to find one. Entry to the market if free of charge and they are open on satuedayaIt is inlyWhole market is indoors so you won't have the problem of getting cold, only thing would be it gets crowded and stays the same. Produce - they have different kinds of produce ranging from Cornish hens, local beef, honey, mushrooms and chards. Their honey and jams caught my eye. They have different kinds and owners were generous enough to let me try all of them ! I bought the apricot jam which reminded us of Indian dessert. Oh yea did I forget about their CHILI !! They have different spice levels and sold fresh as well as frozen if you have to take to a different place. I totally loved the flavor of their chilis Food - there are a lot of options to try. I went for their local breakfast option, pupusas which had chili, beans wrapped in blue corn tortilla. It was bland but a dash of salt set the things right. They have amazing bread options as well.
google avatar

Stephanie G.

Yelp
This is the best farmer's market I have ever had the pleasure of visiting. Fantastic produce, cheese, meat, spices, hot prepared food and drinks. I am incredibly impressed! Parking is available all around the area. Indoor and outdoor stalls.
google avatar

Nelson B.

Yelp
The Santa Fe farmers Market is a decent sized farmers market in the area. They usually have a lot of local produce and meat from northern New Mexico but it's a lot smaller during the Winter months.
google avatar

Mike Z.

Yelp
The energy of the local farmer's, bakers and artists accumulate here and it was a great experience. Coming from Nashville, which has a mediocre farmer's market experience where the produce still come from distributors and have scanner stickers on the produce. Meanwhile here, you have people standing in long lines for what I thought would be a breakfast kiosk (which there was too) but it was for the tomatoes that were in season. They looked amazing and I can say, the tomatoes I had during my meals here were some of the best I've had in a while. Sometimes you get so used to grocery tomatoes that taste like what you "think" tomatoes should taste like until you have some fresh, organic and super nutrient rich ones. The irony is that we were looking for a coffee shop which was on the other side of the market strip and saw a steady crowd with their personal sacks. The snacks we had were fabulous, we grabbed a few piñon sticks and sage to bring back home and enjoyed all the fresh veggies that we wish we could've brought back home. This is a definite stop while you're in town.
google avatar

Yelp
Even in the winter, this market didn't disappoint. On a crisp Saturday in January we sampled or eyeballed watermelon radish (purchased), artisan bread, pozole (purchased) various bean, meats, root veggies, ristra art (purchased) goat cheese (bought that too) soaps etc. Mostly grown or made locally, nice to talk to the venders, sample the heat of the chilies (purchased) and people watch.

Yelp
All of the food products sold here are locally produced by real New Mexican farmers and ranchers. I understood that most, but not all, of the craft items in the market are produced locally. Open year round on Saturdays 8am to 1pm, the farmers market is housed indoors in the railroad area. There were 50-60 vendors selling chili, of all things, as well as lamb, winter vegetables, eggs and greens. There is even a place to get breakfast burritos. Coffee and tea are available. As expected, I found the farmers friendly and willing to explain what went into their products. A string band filled the air with enjoyable music for all to enjoy. Restrooms available on site. Parking is limited so plan ahead. A must stop for any foodie visiting Santa Fe or for anyone else who enjoys knowing more about where their food comes from.
