Another very comfortable stay, we return every few months and the hotel always provides the highest level in all departments, food & beverage, service, check-in, housekeeping and accommodations. The reception and front office team is top notch, friendly and very informed, handling special requests, transportation, providing recommendations and more. We enjoy most of our meals at the hotel, fresh ingredients and impeccable presentation, relaxed setting combined with a beautiful ocean view. Chefs and servers always friendly and attentive to any special requests. Make sure to allow plenty of time to enjoy the expansive breakfast buffet and go to the special events offered most Friday evenings at Cayeye Restaurant on the beach, with great dinner buffet, drinks and live entertainment all included. We also enjoy the resort’s spacious pool area, with full service food and beverages, and use the large well equipped gym (with ocean view) and relaxing spa. The entire resort always feels clean and fresh, from our comfortable room to the restaurants and public areas. First off! Nicole! She is the best! She’s a sweet heart and the first person that greets you when you walk in to get checked in. Her beautiful smile and her pleasant character makes you feel so comfortable from the moment you walk in. I will go back just for her as she is what made my experience that much better. This hotel is beautiful and breathtaking. Although the food at the restaurants I wouldn’t go for again since it lacked flavour and the service at the restaurants not that attentive. But their breakfast service is good and also those working are excellent. It’s the staff after breakfast that really don’t live up to the standard of what the hotel offers. But because of Nicole’s service I have given it a 5 star for service. The rooms are well staged and beautiful. All the amenities were great and beautiful. The staff all throughout the hotel are great ( except those of the restaurant working afternoons and night ). I will definitely go back soon and highly recommend everyone go check them out.

I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to Randy at reception for making my birthday truly special. From the moment I arrived, his warm welcome and thoughtful attention to detail made me feel genuinely valued. He went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect, and his kindness did not go unnoticed. It’s rare to find someone so dedicated and considerate in their role. Thank you, Randy, for turning an ordinary day into a memorable celebration. You are a true credit to the team.

We stayed in February 2025. And was one of the best experiences we had at a hotel easily. The staff went over and beyond to make our family of 3 welcome. The toddler was treated to special pancakes for breakfast and the staff was extremely courteous and professional but still were very warm and friendly. I highly recommend especially if you have a family and want a relaxing experience

For the price, it didn’t feel like a good value. The Hilton just down the street was similarly priced but offered a more upscale experience overall. While our room and the hotel interior were nice, the outdoor areas—like the pool, bars, and seating—felt more like a 3-star hotel. In the end, the room was nice, but the overall experience didn’t match the price.

I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to the entire staff at the Marriott Playa Dormida in Santa Marta! We had a wonderful stay for eight nights in May 2025. From the front desk team to the pool staff, room attendants, cleaning service, doorbell staff, beach crew, the hotel manager, and the jacuzzi handyman—every single person contributed to our exceptional experience. ||Special thanks to Carlos at the beach bar and Mariana, our wonderful waitress. I also want to acknowledge the three Jesuses—our waiter, the pool attendant, and the beach security. Christian, the beach attendant, was equally fantastic. At the front desk, Adain stood out with his charisma and positive attitude, while Randy went above and beyond to ensure our family’s needs were met with outstanding service.||I'd also like to recognize Harrison, Jose, and the young man at the doorbell for their hospitality. Jennifer and Alexa as well. Lina deserves a special mention for her professionalism, great attitude, problem-solving skills, and efficiency; I can’t express my appreciation for her and the rest of the team enough. ||As a Marriott member for over 18 years, I can confidently say that Marriott hotels truly excel in creating memorable experiences for any occasion. I had an excellent stay at the Playa Dormida! Randy Rey took fantastic care of us throughout our stay. Would highly recommend. |We were there for an engineering conference and everyone unanimously agreed that it was one of the nicest venues we've ever attended. Every amenity was met and the staff went above and beyond expectations.

This is a good hotel, and probably the best in Santa Marta. Comfortable rooms, great pool and beach, good food.|Still, there is lots of room for improvement. The hotel is poorly managed - the management understaffs the restaurant and the front desk, even though labor here is very cheap. The more talented servers are on for the weekends. |Despite undrinkable water coming from the tap - the hotel warns you not to drink it - they give you two tiny bottles of drinkable water even though this is the hottest place in Colombia. No nearby stores, which means a taxi ride to buy water and whatever.|The hotel needs a renovation. The carpet in our room was nothing short of disgustingly dirty.|We had to call maintenance for three consecutive days before they fixed the air conditioner.|All these things could easily have been avoided with better management.|Value for price paid is mediocre.
