Santa Marta Marriott Resort Playa Dormida

This Marriott resort provided us with one of the best experiences. The property is at the beach, and the water was warm when we visited in December during the year end holidays. The hotel gave us a very nice upgrade for our room and we felt very comfortable. Lina from the front desk went out of her way to accommodate our requests including planning day trips for us, making restaurant suggestions and even booking them. Jorge from the restaurant wait staff provided us with the right recommendation for our dinner and also arranged for the house made spicy sauce. The staff at the beach is quite customer centric as well. Language could become an issue while ordering at the restaurant so one needs to be more clear during communicating - we ended up with two burgers instead of one and the staff was kind to took the extra one back and remove the charge. It also means that we need to learn a bit of Spanish ;-) Overall - it was a fantastic stay and hopefully we will come back again.

I am a Titanium Elite member and we stay at Marriott properties throughout the world. The Marriott Playa Dormida was by far our favorote beach Marriott thanks mainly to their GM Tomas Ford and Guest Relations Supervisor Lina Calle. Both went abive and beyond to make sure we would have an amazing experience. The hotel itselfl is right on the Playa Dormida beach and the rooms have gorgeous ocean views. The buffet breakfast has a lot of delicious options (and Kellys and Deives were always helpful and accommodating). Really all the staff were super friendly and always willing to assist. I just can't say enough wonderful things about our experience - - thanks again to Tomas Ford and Lina Calle. Now we look forward to returning as soon as possible!

We had an excellent stay at this Marriott. As Marriott Bonvoy Elite members, we were impressed with the outstanding service, comfortable rooms, beautiful views, and delicious breakfast. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed with chocolates, and throughout our stay, the thoughtful notes from the housekeeping staff made the experience feel truly special—worthy of five stars. The private beach is another highlight: clean, calm, and surprisingly warm, it’s easily one of the best in the area. We look forward to returning!

Another very comfortable stay, we return every few months and the hotel always provides the highest level in all departments, food & beverage, service, check-in, housekeeping and accommodations. The reception and front office team is top notch, friendly and very informed, handling special requests, transportation, providing recommendations and more. We enjoy most of our meals at the hotel, fresh ingredients and impeccable presentation, relaxed setting combined with a beautiful ocean view. Chefs and servers always friendly and attentive to any special requests. Make sure to allow plenty of time to enjoy the expansive breakfast buffet and go to the special events offered most Friday evenings at Cayeye Restaurant on the beach, with great dinner buffet, drinks and live entertainment all included. We also enjoy the resort’s spacious pool area, with full service food and beverages, and use the large well equipped gym (with ocean view) and relaxing spa. The entire resort always feels clean and fresh, from our comfortable room to the restaurants and public areas. First off! Nicole! She is the best! She’s a sweet heart and the first person that greets you when you walk in to get checked in. Her beautiful smile and her pleasant character makes you feel so comfortable from the moment you walk in. I will go back just for her as she is what made my experience that much better. This hotel is beautiful and breathtaking. Although the food at the restaurants I wouldn’t go for again since it lacked flavour and the service at the restaurants not that attentive. But their breakfast service is good and also those working are excellent. It’s the staff after breakfast that really don’t live up to the standard of what the hotel offers. But because of Nicole’s service I have given it a 5 star for service. The rooms are well staged and beautiful. All the amenities were great and beautiful. The staff all throughout the hotel are great ( except those of the restaurant working afternoons and night ). I will definitely go back soon and highly recommend everyone go check them out.

For the price, it didn’t feel like a good value. The Hilton just down the street was similarly priced but offered a more upscale experience overall. While our room and the hotel interior were nice, the outdoor areas—like the pool, bars, and seating—felt more like a 3-star hotel. In the end, the room was nice, but the overall experience didn’t match the price.

I had an excellent stay at the Playa Dormida! Randy Rey took fantastic care of us throughout our stay. Would highly recommend. |We were there for an engineering conference and everyone unanimously agreed that it was one of the nicest venues we've ever attended. Every amenity was met and the staff went above and beyond expectations.
