Where to begin? We booked this trip weeks in advance, first for four nights, then revising it to 3 nights due to an early flight home. ||We ran into problems flying from the East Coast to LAX before even arriving at our departing airport. Instead of landing in LA at 5:20pm, we were delayed until 11:30pm. The hotel was messaged that our new arrival time would be in the wee hours of the morning, and they acknowledged.||More delays in picking up our rental car meant an even later arrival at the hotel. A freeway closure that we were stuck in for four hours added even more time. When we arrived at the Marriott, it was 7:30am. We explained what happened and that we were checking in late for our reservation the night before (prepaid). We had traveled 27 hours and needed sleep ASAP. The front desk told us our room wasn’t ready yet. After insisting that our room should be open from the night before and to look at their notes, a manager gave us a room, even though there were no notes in their system.||We went to our room, put the “privacy please” on our door and crawled into bed. 45 minutes later, we hear a knock and “housekeeping.” It felt like a fever dream, and we assumed it was for the room next door. It wasn’t. Despite the do not disturb sign, the maid opened our door. It was 9:00am.||The next day, we got a message that check out was available. Even though we had two more nights. We reconfirmed and ignored the message.||The icing on the cake was on our last morning, we went for breakfast and when we came back to pack up and check out, our keys wouldn’t work. The front desk said we checked out at 6:00am. We didn’t. There was a note in their system that said we requested an early checkout. We explained that we shortened our stay by a night, weeks before. That did not translate to a 6:00am checkout the day before.||We made our disappointment known, but the woman at the front desk could only apologize.||On a positive note, we had great service and food at the restaurant on our last night. The staff there was very attentive.||I highly recommend booking the Hampton Inn if you’re traveling to Buellton.
