We had a wonderful stay at this hotel! It’s a cozy place with very friendly staff who are always ready to help and make you feel cared for. The whole area is clean and well-kept, and we had no issues during check-in — everything went quickly and smoothly. The pool is open all day, with comfortable sunbeds around it, and fresh towels are provided daily, which makes swimming even more enjoyable. There is direct access to the ocean (the shore is pebbly), and a lovely swing on the beach — perfect for relaxing, especially at sunset. Breakfast was delicious, filling, and much better than we expected. The fridge in the room is stocked with drinks and wine for an additional cost, although we didn’t need them. The air conditioners in both bungalows worked perfectly. We rented two bungalows for our big family, and everyone felt comfortable. Overall, it’s a wonderful place for a calm and enjoyable holiday. We were very happy with our stay!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Staying at Santai Hotel was one of the most peaceful and memorable experiences I’ve had in East Bali. If you’re looking to escape the crowds, reconnect with nature, and experience the real soul of Bali, this is the place to be. From the moment I arrived, I was welcomed with genuine warmth and smiles. The team at Santai go above and beyond to make you feel at home — friendly, kind, and always attentive. Their hospitality sets the tone for the entire stay, and you can truly feel the heart they put into everything. The hotel itself is beautifully designed, surrounded by lush tropical gardens, traditional-style bungalows, and that gorgeous beachfront view that Amed is known for. Waking up to the sound of the waves and stepping out to black volcanic sands was an experience I’ll never forget. Whether you’re relaxing by the pool, watching the fishermen return at sunrise, or enjoying the ocean breeze at Coconut Restaurant during dinner, every moment feels like a quiet slice of paradise. The atmosphere is calm and serene — no traffic, no chaos, just pure relaxation. Amed’s slow pace pairs perfectly with Santai’s charm. It’s the kind of place where time moves slower, and you actually get to breathe. If you’re visiting Bali and want something authentic, peaceful, and full of heart, I can’t recommend Santai Hotel enough. A beautiful retreat with an amazing team, incredible views, and an atmosphere that stays with you long after you leave. Truly a hidden gem on the east coast of Bali! Mike & Eloise

Our staying was wonderful! We had the best bungalow there with direct view on pool and sea. Very green environment and top quality snorkeling right from the beach. Breakfast options were great and quality of the food there was excellent. We also ate the dinner there twice, both times the food was really good. All the staff were very friendly.|We rented a motorbike and was easy to move around. During our stay there were big roadworks near hotel so on daytime there were some machine noices breaking the peace, but that's not the case normally.

Unfortunately, this is the worst place we have stayed at on our month long trip to Bali and Lombok…the cabins are in need of maintenance like others have said, and despite the hotel offering accommodation for 3 adults in one lodge - don’t…they don’t cater for it and it would be much more appropriate for them not to offer this option to book on their website. You’re given a wheeled in hospital bed with a mattress attached to the frame, no mosquito net, and it’s just plonked in the middle of the room under the double - very strange. They also only supply 2 water bottles in the room, and only bring 2 cups up for tea in the morning with 2 tea bags despite there being 3 adults. After asking for extra, we were told that they don’t give an extra bottle etc. for the 3rd adult because it’s a double room? We have paid for 3 adults, as per an option on their website - we didn’t make a special request, it was something they actually offer - so all paying customers should be provided with the same, we shouldn’t even need to ask. The staff weren’t overly friendly, some were better than others. In addition, the restaurant is really poor and expensive in comparison to other places in and around Amed. I’m a vegetarian and was served chicken despite ordering a vegetarian meal obviously… luckily I didn’t eat any of it and noticed it was chicken before I began the meal…but it could have made me very ill. They asked if I wanted anything else so I just said fries, and they then proceeded to charge me for the fries and service on top!!! Despite nearly making me sick. The breakfast was shocking, they proceeded to try to give me someone else’s breakfast, milk coffee is not good, toast is not toast, just warm bread. Just overall poor quality. In fact, if you walk 500m up the road to Food and Friends, you will be guaranteed very good quality food and good service for a fraction of the price of what Swasti charge. 1000x better in our opinion. ||The place is very tired, whilst the grounds are nice and well maintained, the cabins need some improvement. The doors to the cabin don’t close properly so they let mosquitoes in if you’re not careful. The mosquito net around the double bed is not large enough to cover the bed so there’s not really much point in it…the single hospital bed didn’t come with anything. The balcony is falling down with rotten bits of wood and everything just looks very tired and in need of some TLC. There are stains all over the wall next to the toilet…and the soap dispenser by the basin had no soap in at all since the day we arrived to wash our hands. The room is very dark with not sufficient lighting to actually see what you’re doing of an evening so a head torch is a must. ||What they also didn’t tell us prior to check in (which they definitely should have) is that there is currently building work going on right behind our cabin all day on the road and that they are blaming this for not having any wifi. They should notify guests of this prior to their stay because many guests will need Wifi for work calls etc. but no mention of it until we had checked in. It’s incredibly noisy here, not relaxing at all. ||Shocking service, expensive for what is is and not worth it. There’s many other places to stay in Amed for a fraction of the price, so I would recommend you spend your money elsewhere. We definitely won’t be back to this accommodation.

Santai is a great little place with a number of great restaurants a short walk away. The accommodation is well kept and traditional but in need of a little bit of an update. That said, you are on the beach with beautiful gardens and at a small hotel with great staff who cannot do enough to help you. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay there again.

Santai Hotel is in an incredible location and you can hear the ocean waves each night. Staff were very friendly. Rooms are authentic and comfortable, maybe in need of a little tlc but they are clean and well set out. The coffee/tea brought to the verandah each morning to enjoy as you wake up was awesome!

Location and seaview are excellent. Garden is beautiful. Bungalows would need a bit of an upgrade as they feel date. Access to bathroom through stairs, fixed showerhead only, wifi was patchy. Quite a lot of noise from the road just behind, also during night. Safe digicode was not working, we had to use the security key only, so not really safe. Locking of the door a bit cumbersome with huge padlock. Not enough electrical sockets, near the bed only one at floor level for the bedlight. Paths to bungalows are very dark at night and there is not enough signage to find the way to your room. Complicated. But food was good and staff wonderful and helpful.

Great places to stay are not easy to find”|From the exceptional service and the thought behind each drink, Santai resort in Amed has gone above and and beyond to help not only create a great experience, but has always created a standard of cooking and over-all experience that exemplifies why you would come to Bali!
