Located along the serene coastline of Chennai, this magnificent church stands as a symbol of faith, history, and architectural elegance. The stunning white neo-Gothic structure immediately captured my attention. Its tall spire rising into the sky, detailed stained-glass windows, and graceful arches give it a majestic yet calming presence. As I walked inside, the quiet atmosphere created a deep sense of peace. The soft light filtering through the colorful glass windows added a spiritual charm to the entire space. What makes this basilica even more special is its historical significance. It is built over the tomb of St. Thomas the Apostle, one of the twelve disciples of Jesus Christ. Knowing this made the visit feel even more meaningful and sacred. The underground tomb chapel is simple yet powerful, offering visitors a moment for reflection and prayer. The church premises are clean, well-maintained, and organized. Despite attracting many visitors, the environment remains calm and respectful. I also appreciated the small museum inside, which showcases relics and information about the history of Christianity in India. Overall, my visit to Santhome Cathedral Basilica was memorable and spiritually uplifting. It is not just a tourist destination but a place where history, faith, and beauty come together harmoniously. Woww..! 😱❤ Such a huge church in Tamil Nadu. Really it is the largest church of Tamil Nadu. This was the first church I ever visited. Free entry. Entry allowed for all religion. Such a peaceful place. Beach is nearby in a walkable distance.

Beautiful little Christian enclave in Chennai. The tomb of St Thomas is well worth a visit. Also walking distance from the beach which is also lots of fun😀

It seems like a nice place, however, has that artificial feeling to it. Still, it is a place worth visiting and is not a bad one

St Thomas the 'doubting deciple' of Jesus was died while he was in India. The place where he died is now a pilgrimage plave for all Catholics. I haf a chance to visit the pilgrim church and attended a Tamil ' Kurbana ' last Monday. It was a good exoerience for me!
