Guesthouse Santiago was a fun stay, moreso due to coincidences then any particular action by staff. The hostel was not expensive and I feel like I got great value for money.
The location, while not next door to any public transit, isn't far from it. Additionally, it is quite close to a lot of popular attractions, restaurants, and shops, with the added plus that Hiroshima itself is very walkable.
The Hostel was very clean, and I have nothing negative to say in this department.
Staff were quite friendly when engaged, but it was hard to determine who did and didn't work there, and despite what looked like a lot of staff on-hand, there were no events or activities for guests.
The facilities were great, with multiple private showers, decent beds, multiple tvs and a comfy lounge/social area. Their kitchen is very nice, if a little cramped.
The worst part about this hostel is just the lack of the social aspect to it. It was not uncommon for there to be 5+ individuals just sitting around, checking phones and having relatively little to do. A couple of in-house activities or mild interaction with guests would go a long way, in my opinion.
