We were on a walking tour and this was one of the stops! When you come to Portugal, you must try the Pastel De Nata. It is a custard pastry, made with eggs/cream. I am not a custard person , but I have to say, the pastry is delicious! I didn't have one here because I had one the day before and if it's anything like the one I'd tried, it simply melts in your mouth, once you bite into that flaky crust! My goodness 😋 They had other pastries and everything looked good! My daughter opted for the cheesecake. It was cute! The place was busy and the outside of the building was very interesting. Loves the titles ❤️

I'm on a quest to find the very best Pastel de Nata in town, and I've been following the advice of locals to sample these delicious pastries from various renowned bakeries. It's been an incredible culinary adventure, leading me to discover so many amazing places and hidden food gems. And this particular bakery? It's definitely a standout! Their Pastel de Nata is, without a doubt, a must-try. It's absolutely fantastic. The pastry is perfectly flaky and light, providing a delicate crunch that gives way to the rich, creamy custard filling. The balance of flavors is spot-on – just the right amount of sweetness with a hint of cinnamon that elevates the whole experience. It's clear they use high-quality ingredients and time-honored techniques to create a truly exceptional Pastel de Nata. I've been incredibly impressed with the quality and variety of Pastel de Nata I've encountered on this taste-testing journey, and this bakery has earned a top spot on my list. If you're a fan of these Portuguese treats (and who isn't?), you absolutely have to try the ones here. You won't be disappointed! This is definitely one of the best I've had, and I highly recommend it.

Google
This cafe had a great selection of pastries and the cappuccinos were amazing as well. The staff was very kind. There is spacious upstairs seating and clean restrooms. I would definitely recommend this cafe if you’re wanting a quick bite to eat!

Google
The pasteis de nata are truly some of the best in Lisbon. It's worth trying one while looking at someone cooking them in front of you. The ice cream is not as good with regards to the price but this is not what makes you go there.

Jenn Z

Google
Yummy Egg Tarts that crunch from the outside and soft inside. It has been 200 years of history behind it. This is the best in Lisbon.

Weng Chin

Google
I can give this a five-star. The biscuit is really crispy and it is slightly less sweet than many other nata, though not as optimal the sweetness as the Pastel de Belem. Coffee is good too.

Google
Delicious Pastel de Nata, we've tried them in several places, and these are among the best. The balance of sweetness in the custard and the delicate, crispy pastry is perfect. Additionally, you can watch the desserts being made, which is really fascinating. The coffee is also quite good. You can sit by the window on the second floor and enjoy a peaceful atmosphere.

Google
Amazing pastel de nata - warm, crispy on the outside. Delicious! Other deserts are also great. Quiet sitting area upstairs.

Yelp
Our favorite of all the bakeries and coffee shops we went to. The service was great, and the place has great views of the surrounding streets near the castle. The food and coffee were incredible! - The Port wine croissant is one of the best pastries I've ever had, and I could eat one every single day. - The pastel de natas were really good as well and I'd recommend getting a few You have to come and get some pastries from this place!

Yelp
I had this place on my list from the start but then someone said a local recommended it too so I had to add it to my itinerary I came on a day I was mainly cafe hopping or sitting at parks and site seeing The line was out the door but not too long Ordered a pastel, sausage pastry, and fresh OJ Went upstairs to the sitting room area and got a spot right next to the window which was perfect for people watching The pastel was great but not one of my favorites. The OJ was absolutely delicious along with the sausage pastry! Really enjoyed that one. Definitely give it a try to compare to other pastel spots

Yelp
We came at around 10:00am for breakfast. We had the ham and cheese croissant, pasteis de nata and cappuccinos. There was not much seating downstairs but there was lots of seating upstairs. The ham and cheese croissant was my favourite. It was flaky - the cheese was savoury and had just the right amount of ham in it. They also cut it in half for us which was great. The pasteis de nata was not the best I've had. It was pretty flaky but the custard wasn't creamy enough for me. The cappuccino's were okay - they weren't strong enough but overall did the trick of waking me up As for service - I gave it a 3 as there was no toilet paper in the bathroom and there was no where to put the dirty dishes as the bucket was all full.

Julianna R.

Yelp
This is the absolute best bakery to get your pastel de nata from when in Lisbon. From the pastry crust to the custard filling to the flavour profile, these pastels are simply perfection. I will be dreaming of these pastels until I can return to Lisbon - they're truly incredible.

Yelp
After hearing lots of great reviews of Pastelaria Santo Antonio, my wife and I decided to pay them a visit. As we were in Lisbon, my wife and I were going to a few bakeries to try which had the best Natas. We ended up ordering one to share from here, and thinking back now, I wish we had ordered more. The Natas were very fresh and warm. The custard filling had a very nice taste and the outside was nice and flaky. The interior of the shop was nice and cozy. The servers were also very kind. It was raining outside so they offered us a complimentary warm drink. I'd definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for some natas!!
google avatar

Allie B.

Yelp
Wonderful fresh Pastel de Nata. We saw the baker preparing the pastel de nata in the window right in front of us and took our pastel de nata upstairs. An incredible view of downtown Lisbon from the cafe seating upstairs where we ate!
google avatar

Alexa P.

Yelp
Stopped by here on a day trip in Lisbon. We got the famous pasteles de nata and ate them upstairs with a gorgeous lookout over the streets of Lisbon. Very good pastry and great views.

Yelp
On a quest for the best Pastel De Nata (Portuguese Tart), I discovered that Pastelaria Santa Antonio received an award in 2019. Having tasted several tarts here and in the states, I can attest that each bakery's version is delicious and possesses its own unique charm. The service was professional, and the transaction was swift. There is seating on the same level if the endless hills were a big workout for you. There is also setting up the stairs, along with toilets and an area where you can witness the entire process of how the tart is made. The ambiance was quiet which was prefec Overall, I would consider returning in the future. It is a short walk from the castle.
google avatar

Yelp
Egg and custard tarts are a work of art, and Santo Antonio takes the pastries like a renaissance painting. My Asian bias is showing, but I normally opt for Chinese egg tarts. But this takes the cake (or carb... what are euphemisms?). Perhaps there's a colonial connection somewhere.
google avatar

Sam H.

Yelp
Sweet, sugary and creamy in a perfectly baked donut. I really can't say anymore. But it was fantastic.
google avatar

Andrew D.

Yelp
Wonderful staff and everything on the menu was as good as it looked. The value is next to none. I was particularly I pressed by the cappuccino and the croissant porto.
google avatar

Yelp
I've been spending my whole vacation searching for the best pastel do nata. Now, I think I've found it! These pastels are to die for. Do not waste your time going to any other restaurants looking for these just come straight here. Also, the bread and sandwiches are very good for a quick bite to eat after seeing the castle.
google avatar

Yelp
Great location in Alfama and in an adorable building. Inside is cute and well decorated and staff is friendly and attentive. There are a few spots to eat inside. Everything was delicious
google avatar

Emilé Y.

Yelp
Solid pastel de nata near castelo San Jorge. If you are climbing those curvy roads and need a quick snack, this bakery offers a variety of options and has a special section for the natas. Servers are very nice but wish the nata had cinnamon. It was very sweet like your typical pastry. Tldr good pastries
google avatar

Adriana F.

Yelp
Excellent food and for us location as it is next to our hotel. The ham and cheese pastry sandwich was so good I wanted more. Fluffy buttery pastry filled with goodness. My first Pastel de Nata was a mouth watering experience. Worth stopping by for breakfast or a quick bite
google avatar

Yelp
On our way down from the castle, we stopped in for their award winning egg tart. They were voted the best egg tart in 2019. I liked it but it wasn't my favorite. I prefer a more eggy tasted that is a little less sweat. The staff here is friendly they have a decent amount of seats (bar seating in the ground floor and more tables on the second). They are a small chain with a few locations.
google avatar

Patricia G.

Yelp
Stumbled upon this place during my time in Lisbon. For me, this was one of the best pasteis de nata that I tried during my time in Portugal. Loved seeing how they were made in the large window/display. They were 1,15 euros per pasteis, or deliciousness I should say. You can also find ice cream to the left side of the counter. My friends indulged in something cooler than I did during our visit because of the heat, but I was on a mission to try all the custard tarts in my way. You can't beat the freshness and richness of the pasteis, they're so addicting!
google avatar

Jeff B.

Yelp
Every once in a while you come across a place that makes you say OMFG. This is one of those. Their custard tarts came out warm, sweet, oozing and super frigging filo like crispy deliciousness. OMFG ×2
google avatar

Tunaidi A.

Yelp
As one of the many nata joints I've stopped by, Pastelaria Santa Antonio didn't stand out. A little too sweet and liquidy.
google avatar

Angelo B.

Yelp
The custard tarts here were quite good. The custard itself was a bit too sweet (vs Belém) but not overwhelming. Would've preferred the crust to be a bit flakier. This was our favorite tart in the old town area though. There was only a small line at 11ish in the morning. Ample seating upstairs. FYI here are my rankings of the different spots that I tried: 1. Pasteis de Belem 2. Pastalaria Santo Antonio 3. Fabrica da Nata 4. Manteigaria

Yelp
During our trip earlier this year before covid-19, we stopped by because it was super close to our Airbnb. Pastel de natas - a little sweeter than other pastel de natas I had. I didn't want to sprinkle cinnamon and powder sugar to it as it was already sweet. Caracol Frutos Secos - a pastry with a swirl & raisins. Wasn't super sweet and honestly a bit bland. It was flakey but super sticky. Napolitana - a chocolate filled croissant like pastry topped with powdered sugar. It was flakey but super sweet because there was a lot of chocolate inside. They have a minimum when using a credit card so we bought 2 pastel de natas, caracol frutos secos, and the napolitana. Napolitana - chocolate croissant like pastry with powdered sugar. Super sweet! There's a lot of chocolate inside! Would recommend trying their pastel de natas if you like them on the sweeter side.

Yelp
Fantastic pao de deus! Great fresh orange juice A nice breakfast break on the walk to the castle
google avatar

Debbie G.

Yelp
Lovely bakery in Alfama. As you can imagine this was one of many stops for pastel de nata. For 1 euro you can get a tasty and warm nata. As their saying goes, eat a custard tart and ask Saint António for a miracle :-)
google avatar

Megan C.

Yelp
The egg tart was so incredible wow I can't even begin to describe it. It was perfectly cooked and soft on the inside like melt in your mouth with the most delicious custard, and the place was packed. I was impressed with the service and cant wait to go back!!
google avatar

Philip M.

Yelp
We stopped here for coffee and pastries while walking the steep hill to Castelo Sao Jorge. It's also a great place for a bathroom break since the bathrooms are clean. Just purchase something and you can utilize the bathrooms without a door code. Order and prepay at the counter and your completed order will be fulfilled a few feet down the counter. Service was friendly and and attentive however staff speaks limited English so speak slow or better yet practice your Portuguese!! The upper dining area was filled with light and clean. The pastel de Nata egg custard pastries were fresh and delicious! We suggest to walk up the staircase and sit upstairs for a great view of the historic buildings and streetscape. We recommend this restaurant!!
google avatar

Giulian G.

Yelp
This place was an unbeatable breakfast stop on the walk up to the Castelo nearby. There was no line when we arrived but one formed while we were eating. The pastry ovens are right next to the door and you can watch the chefs preparing and baking the tarts and other pastries just through the window. We ordered a pasteis de nata, one chocolate cream filled donut, and a chicken puff pastry. The pasteis was delicious- still warm from the oven. The donut was also great, and the chicken puff pastry was a nice savory break from the sweetness of the other bites. Our usual cappuccino for him and fresh squeezed orange juice for her hit the spot. Definitely a place worth checking out!!

Ash K.

Yelp
Best Pastel Da Nata we had in Lisbon, we kept finding reasons to come back via this route just for the delicacy.
google avatar

Angela A.

Yelp
Decent place for a pastry stop. Spacious upstairs dining room. Good for working remotely.
google avatar

Sarah M.

Yelp
So far I have stopped at multiple shops to get pastel de Nata. Santo António was our first stop and favorite stop. Theirs had a creamy and smooth texture to the custard. Their pastry was the flakiest and crunchiest. The custards were delicious and not too sweet which is the problem with some of the other pastel de Nata.
google avatar

Suzie L.

Yelp
Lunch in Castelo/Alfama district This is a great breakfast/lunch/snack option if you are in the Castelo/Alfama district. The cafe is clean and inviting and is decorated with beautiful tiles. We had a couple of good cheap sandwiches and their nata are tasty and delicious. We thought the coffee expensive and very ordinary though!
google avatar

Yuan-Yuan S.

Yelp
Walking down from the castle we passed by this bakery and saw their notice if having won 1st prize in 2019 for their Pasteis de Nata. Of course we had to try them. Delicious! Best ones we had this week in Lisbon: crispy, flaky crust, creamy, mellow custard. Yum! Will return here b4 leaving.
google avatar

Helen Y.

Yelp
We stopped by here as part of a free walking tour and our tour guide said they were the winner of the 2019 pasteis de nata contest so it's highly recommended! Food/Drink: Their award-winning pasteis de nata was truly worth the hike into the Alfama district. Our tour guide said that out of all the imitation pasteis de belem found in Lisbon, this one comes closest to the original recipe! Besides their tarts, they also sell a variety of other Portuguese pastries. Price: Like most pasteis de natas, they are very affordable at only 1 euro each. Atmosphere: A small shop that you just grab and go, with limited counter seating.
google avatar

John R.

Yelp
Best in the neighborhood! Treat yourself after that long walk up the hill and before going on to the castle. If you time it right, you can watch the chef(s) preparing your tasty pastry. There isn't much room inside, just a line of stools along one wall. There is nothing outside so take it to go and enjoy it later up on the castle walls. Oh, and they have ice cream!
google avatar

Kelvin C.

Yelp
A good Pastel de Nata, but the winner still belongs to Manteigaria and Pasteis de Belem. The egg custards here are super runny, almost considered undercooked. If you like that kind of thing, you'll love this, but I prefer mine with a bit more texture. 4 stars.
google avatar

Loey W.

Yelp
During our stay, we have been to several pastelaria in Lisbon. Simply because you can't get around them! We didn't plan on going to this one, but after walking around the city for a while, we were getting hungry. We were glad we did. The pastel de nata can easily rival Pasteies de Belèm in my opinion. We also had some other pastries like the Pao de Deus. This pastelaria is definitely worth a stop if you have just visited or about to visit Castelo de Saõ Jorge!
google avatar

Denay W.

Yelp
Such a great find after leaving Castelo de Saõ Jorge nearby. We were drawn in by the amazing looking pasteís de nada in the window and decided to check in out. It's cool to see a guy making the pastries through a window in a shop. We had to take a number to be served, but things moved incredibly quickly and the staff was friendly. At 2€ a pastel de nada, its worth the price! They were absolutely amazing and still warm. The outside pastry area was flaky and crisp, while the inside was filled with a not overly sweet custard. Highly recommend stopping by and checking it out!
google avatar

Leo H.

Yelp
Best place for a quick breakfast. The award-winning egg tarts are for real. We kept coming back and getting more of them during our stay in Lisbon. The cold salmon sandwich is also really good. There is a lot of space upstairs to eat a delicious breakfast and embrace the sunshine. Again, best egg tarts in town, go get them.
google avatar

Courtney V.

Yelp
The trek to this modern and simple hillside cafe would make going worth it... but the pastries and espresso make it a must. Friendly staff, super clean, and a lovely variety of sweets and savories. The pastel de nata were warm when I arrived and melted into my mouth. Americano was the best I've had in Lisboa yet. This place made my American girl dreams of sitting in European bakeries eating local treats and sipping coffee come true! So good, so perfect, there are tears in my eyes as I write this.
google avatar

Tanya A.

Yelp
I randomly ended up here while exploring the town and was starting to get hungry so decided to stop in for a bite. I got a chicken puff pastry and their signature pastries and was blown away with the freshness and quality. Everything was so fresh and they warmed it up for me which made it seem like it just came out of the oven! I would definitely recommend this cute shop to anyone whose wandering Alfama or surrounding areas.
google avatar

Tara V.

Yelp
Rough walk up this steep hill but the pastry is worth it. I am still thinking of this pastry with a sugary outside and a chocolate pudding type filling. In fact I took three pictures of it! I will never be able to eat a pastry at home in New Jersey again!
google avatar

Amanda C.

Yelp
Our favorite pastel de Nata in Lisbon. Service is fast, pasteis are hot, and there are even a few tables inside.
google avatar

Kalene F.

Yelp
Quick stop prior to heading to the Alfama district. This establishment was close to our AirBnB and was in one of the beautiful tiled buildings of Lisbon. It was clean inside, only accepted cash, and served its purpose as a breakfast place to fuel up before touring every took and cranny in the city for the day. We had a coffee, a juice, a caprese sandwich, and a chicken sandwich. Food was just okay. Not a lot of seating either. This place was one of the few places that made us feel like outsiders - like the Americans that we were!
google avatar

Paul R.

Yelp
A nice cute shop but the pastiche here are nowhere near as good as Montegria downtown.
google avatar

Melissa T.

Yelp
I'll start all my nata reviews with this: my absolute favorite nata in Portugal was from Manteigaria. However, this one was pretty darn good too. Maybe part of the charm is that you have to earn the nata after climbing the hill up to Castelo de Sao Jorge. We ate around 7pm, so the line was super short but the nata were still fresh and warm. There isn't much seating here, though since it was so late in the day, we were able to snag space by the bar counter. I could imagine that this bakery gets super crowded in the mornings from tourists. If you're craving a light snack and are already in the area, I'd recommend this place
google avatar

Andrew H.

Yelp
They make DELICIOUS pastel de nata! Truly special. Sandwiches and coffee are delicious. A great place to pause on your way up to castle sao de jorge. Clean modern place to sit down.
google avatar

Leah R.

Yelp
In my opinion, the best pastel de nata in all of Lisbon. We also liked the donut-looking things with the chocolate custard inside. I don't know what they're called but I loved it. I've tried it in other locations across Portugal but none have been as good as the first one at Pastelaria Santo Antonio. This seems like an excellent bakery where everything is baked right- the right amount of crispy, creamy, or light and fluffy. I would go here every morning if possible!
google avatar

Intan K.

Yelp
While we were walking through Alfama we stumbled upon this place. They had the best pastel de nata! It wasn't that expensive too. They have more pastries, ice cream, bread rolls and drinks. You can even see how they make pastel de nata! There are seats on the ground floor but also on the first floor.

Sonny W.

Yelp
Unassuming place which serves great patisserie. Enjoyed the chicken puff, the Portuguese tart (you can see them make it). Been here back-to-back for breakfast in the mornings. Fresh squeezed juice. Menu show some sets to help get your day going!

Melissa D.

Yelp
The pasties de nata were good. Besides that the croissant and Portuguese doughnut were just ok. My partner got the sausage puff pastry (looks like a hotdog inside) and couldn't take a second bite. It simply did not taste very good. There are plenty of places around. Maybe just an off-day.

Stephanie C.

Yelp
Accidentally stumbled across this place while walking home from Castle San Jorge. Excellent pastel de nata, crispy and flaky crust with warm filling. Good value for your money as well
