SANTO TACO

Great, great tacos. The shells are pressed to order and very, very good. Would recommend the shrimp or fish, service is friendly and no frills. This is unbelievable value in Vancouver. Enthusiastically recommended! Pic is of an average sized plate, two tacos were decently filling.

Lovely tacos here! Second time here and had an excellent experience. Very delicious tacos topped with lots of sauce and onions. Super filling too! And the workers here are all very kind and sweet! Made sure to check in with me at all times and wasn’t weirded out when I only ordered 2 tacos because other restaurants would want you to order more but they remain very kind and sweet. I will be coming back again, very authentic as well and it’s in a huge restaurant.

Fantastic authentic taco experience! Pricing is a bit expensive but that’s standard downtown Vancouver. The food has been consistently great and they are always busy. Would definitely recommend if you’re in the mood to grab some delicious tacos, even when the craving strikes late at night!

Randomly came to this restaurant while walking around Gastown. The tacos come loaded with meat, so it’s really quite filling. I definitely recommend the lengua taco and the carne asada quesdillas which i forgot to take a picture of. They were yum! Will be back! Pick up order, took 30 min 🥲 Gave me a wrong drink, fruit punch tastes like cough syrup 😂 Consume was all oil 😔 Birria was tender, carnitas were dry. Nachos were ok but I’d ask them to separate the chips from the toppings if doing take out so they don’t get soggy. Came highly recommended so was excited for the birria and especially the consume. Unfortunate. Level of care and attention wasn’t it for me.

Reviewing as a food delivery guy. Wasn't sure how many stars. It was raining outside and I slipped at their doorstep. It was sloped. They should have placed a "slippery when wet" sign there. Maybe nobody else ever slipped there so management didn't have the experience to do so. Also, food prep took way too long on one of the orders. It was like 10 mins. The guy did offer apologies for both incidents though.

Had an amazing experience at Santo Taco! The food was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned easily one of the best tacos I’ve had in a while. The atmosphere was lively yet relaxed, making it a great spot to hang out with friends. A special shoutout to Miguel our server, who made the experience even better. He was friendly, attentive, and really went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. Great service and great food highly recommend this place!

The tacos were really good. Great flavor, nice spice, and very filling. Marco was a great server too. Overall a solid experience and I’d come back.

Santo Taco was highly recommended by my sister, and it didn't disappoint! We easily made a reservation online, and even though we arrived a bit early, they seated us immediately. A major highlight was the "3 for $20" quesadilla deal-- great value. I have to spotlight the meat: it was perfectly seasoned and incredibly juicy. There's nothing worse than a dry quesadilla, but that was definitely not the case here. Service was pretty quick, and whenever we needed something, it was easy to get the staff's attention There's a long list of different quesadillas to choose from, and yes, mixing and matching is possible. We tried the carne asada, birria, and carnitas. Everything was so delicious that we ended up ordering a second round of the exact same thing. Drizzle them with salsa verde and fresh lime juice, and you got yourself a perfect meal TBH. As a side note, I loved the ambiance--the deep colors and exposed brick walls was a vibe. No complaints over here.

I've looked all over Metro Vancouver for a great Mexican restaurant and feel like I finally found one that isn't just good, but is in fact great, in Santo Taco! I ordered a horchata and a set of 3 quesadillas: -Alambre de pollo -Mar y tierra -De bajas The horchata came in a big cup, so I had plenty to drink. The quesadillas were filling, full of flavour, and authentic! I had recently visited Mexico, and the quesadillas tasted very similar! The service was excellent - we had our orders placed quickly and got our food quickly. The restaurant is large and has plenty of seating, and it's also located in a convenient area for visitors to walk to, whether they are coming from an event at BC Place/Rogers Arena or from Waterfront or Stadium-Chinatown station.

Legit but expensive Mexican place on Hastings, across from the Woodward's building. Parking here is pretty horrendous. Limited metered spots at best. The place is modern and hipster. Nice high ceilings, with the vintage renovated warehouse look. The entire front area is a waiting area, which is honestly a bit strange. Judging by how full the place was, they can definitely use a few more tables there. Staff were friendly and professional. As others have mentioned, there is something special about the tacos here. Not sure if it's the cheese, or the grilled tortillas, but this is definitely some of the tastiest tacos I have had in town. I tried a fish, pork, and beef taco. Everything hit the spot. With that said, the pricing is also one of the highest I have seen around town. Something to keep in mind. My buddy had a burro (burrito) and said it was packed full of goodies and super tasty. It does look like a much better value proposition than the tacos. Just a heads up. Wouldn't mind coming back to try more food, though I'd probably go for the burro next time. Recommended.

Disappointing first experience: My burrito was cold and the lady at the cash told me my pickup order, which was indicated as ready by text, would be ready in ten more minutes. It also took at least 5 minutes waiting to be helped by any staff for my pickup order. I kindly told her about my text notification and was thankfully able to pick it up faster. The beef inside had mostly fat pieces instead of meat, the Mexican rice inside was pretty much white and no orange colour. The sauce and overall flavour was average. Also, WHO PUTS PEAS IN A BURRITO? If you want authentic Mexican food, go elsewhere or California.

It was good and this review based on only ordering 2 veg tacos as went on my meatless Monday. I tried the rajas taco but it was too cheesy as could barely taste the grilled pablano pepper which is why I ordered it. Also tried the mushroom taco. They were good but I added hot sauce to both as both tacos were on the salty side. The critique is it came on the paper yet the tacos were wet so the paper gets wet and I almost ate the paper. My friends enjoyed their vegan burrito, nachos, Burria taco and other pork tacos, but I didn't try any of it so cannot say.

I found a piece of some kind of wood chip in my burrito the food tasted good but I think there shouldn't be a wood chip in there is could be a dangerous if somebody eats that, needs more safety measures and precautions

Ok this place is the bomb. Definitely the best tacos I've had since Mexico itself - both the variety of meats and foods and the quality and flavour are amazing. The carnitas which is my measuring stick - it was so tender and flavourful. Wow. They have Chicharron, many kinds of pork beef, lingua, and many kinds of shrimp too. Service is excellent too. Very friendly. Highly highly recommended.

Service was extremely slow. They didn't offer any help with the menu. Food was over priced. I paid $18 for my meal a d left still hungry.

Service was surprisingly slow for a Thursday lunch. I enjoyed their nachos and they have a good selection of tacos. Tacos are good but not the best in my opinion. The house made corn tortillas were small and didn't hold the filling, my tacos were dripping all over my hand. I do love that they have agua fresca on the menu.

I wanted to like Santo Taco, I really did. I was so pumped from the reviews, and the fact that the majority of the occupied tables when we first entered were full on latin diners (I heard Mexico City accents nearby). Sadly, our experience definitely fell short. First, the staff picked up a moist cloth from the floor back onto a counter (to be used again for wiping tables - eww!); then the hot salsas arrived uncapped and dirty, and we noted an ample number of flies (probably attributed to unprotected / uncovered food). I could look past that, but our food was mediocre at best. I ordered a trio of tacos - carne asada, carnitas, and choriqueso (essentially, steak, pulled pork, and chorizo sausage with cheese). I am a slow eater, but my meal arrived probably a good 20 minutes before my companions (a torta). I had to stop eating before my last taco, because it was just ridiculous - and staff couldn't offer an explanation as to why the long wait. Ok - kitchen was slow. And my tacos? I liked that the tortillas were homemade. And the carne asada had whole beans in it, which may be off putting to some diners, but I can accept it. It was a good start... but then it was a landslide from there. My choriqueso (sausage with cheese!) was so dry and burnt, it was crispy! Was it chorichiccharon?? Did I miss something? Where was the cheese??? Not only that, the chorichiccharon almost broke a tooth, it was so charred and crispy. I left half of it on my plate out of dispair and disappointment. Then there was my carnitas taco - which turned out to be al pastor. Pineapple, saucy marinade seasoning. Disappointing, because I wanted comfort-food carnitas! Boyfriend's torta was actually good. But it came so late that we couldn't enjoy a meal together. Santo also doesn't have alcohol, so no tequila to drown your sorrows in either lol Sorry to say, this was a one star experience. Don't waste your precious taco appetite for Santo Taco!

$5.00 a taco is as good as it's gonna get these days. The tacos are well served with good portions, salsa and apparently hand made tortillas. The meat was a bit salty in both the carne asada and carnitas tacos. The service was good and the restaurant is clean, modern and has a great vibe.

Bro you're charging people $3.50 for a tiny spoonful of diced tomatoes and onions. I would seriously consider changing that if I were you. Whose idea was that anyways?

Very good food. Reasonable prices. Cool local spot. All the food is authentic and they really try to make it different and special in terms of an experience with the food. Their ingredients are purposeful.

Came to Canada for a day trip. Found some Mexican food on yelp. Was totally blown away! The tacos were so good! Not overly give tacos or too small and they packed the meat and veggies on it. The sauce was spicy too which was great! Sweet staff, they were a bit busy but I could tell because the people loved it!

Best Mexican food I've had in a long time. The service is amazing as well. Highly recommend!

About as good as I've ever had in Vancouver. Had a fish taco and a carnitas. Both excellent. Filling much bigger than the tortilla.

They have all of the Mexican food I like I wanted the Santo Taco and Burritos ,and they were good. Our first time here at this authentic place, and i was happy to be here. Great food and nice staff. Can't wait to visit again.

100% recommend this place. I came in person not long after it opened. Really nice staff, who took the time to explain the menu. Very generous portions and we loved what we had. Quecadillas El Capi and Quesadillas De Birria were so good that we've ordered them twice as takeout since. Great guacamole too, very generous portion.
