Santos Fuegos Holbox

An absolutely incredible meal, one that I will remember for a long time. We didn’t have a bad dish so honestly order as much as you can. I loved their citrusy salad with the anchovy dressing, the grilled prawns and the flank steak; each dish was prepared and cooked perfectly with such interesting flavours. We recommended this place to several other families and couples staying in our hotel and they all had equally great things to say about their experience here. Oh and the cornbread was sensational, save room for that!

Santos Fuegos came highly recommended by several on the island and it did not disappoint. There are meals and then there are experiences…this was truly an experience. It’s very intimate, outdoor covered dining experience…the aroma of the wood-fired oven begins the experience before you enter. Mario began as our waiter, but by the end of the night we ended as friends. His level of detail, knowledge, passion and guidance through the menu was a level of service that is second to none. Our sharing of stories, vulnerable conversation and his genuineness made him more than a server…truly an individual who glows from within. Back to the food…the toughest decision was what NOT to order. The attention to detail in every dish, the freshness and flavor of every bite…there is magic somewhere in the flames of the wood-fired oven. The drink menu was equally difficult to narrow as everything sounded intriguing. The blessing in disguise was there were only two dessert option, both were so unique and a perfect cap to such a dining experience. I was able to experience one Michelin star restaurant on the island…there could easily be two.

Unbelievable food, each dish is a standalone knock out. Highly recommend the octopus, beef flank, & special empanadas, all absolutely incredible. The broccoli was also really, really tasty! Do not go without getting the cornbread & ice cream - wow!! Loved the Mexican red blend too. A unique dining experience which we won’t forget. We also had to download the playlist because it was so good!

This might have been one of the best meals of my life, certainly the short ribs are top two dishes ever!! We also had the empanadas, ceviche and steak! The pan de elote dessert was incredible! Everything is connected to the fire and fresh flavors of the island, so much care and thought has gone into this menu… The service was also next level, the best we have had on the island, Mario was so attentive and fun to chat with! Only wish we could have tried more things on the menu but no room! 11/10 easily!

This place is my favorite on the island constantly delivering a very high standard of flavor and depth in every dish, there’s not much you can go wrong with here. Everything tastes like it’s homemade in the best of ways made with love and the service reinforces that feeling. It can get a little busy especially when the season picks up so definitely plan ahead/make a reservation.

An absolute must when in Holbox. The whole experience was a delight. We ordered 3 plates to share (we were two); we had the broccoli, the flatbread and the costilla (rib) everything was perfect, from the presentation to the subtilities in every bite. And the experience wouldn't have been the same without the great service of our waiter, Mario. He was very caring, took his time to explain the menu and made sure everything was up to our standards the whole night. The only place we had this level of fine cuisine in Holbox (and we tried a lot of great places) but this one is in a category of its own. Disclaimer : the portions are very generous! We couldn't finish and took the rest to go. Unfortunately we couldn't try the desert but that will wait for another day!

Food was 10/10. We had the shrimps, short rib, broccoli and empanadas, oh and the corn bread for dessert - all were absolutely amazing. Definitely the restaurant you want to go to if you’re looking for something special. The vibe and atmosphere was great. Mario was our waiter - he was so knowledgeable of the food and really helped with recommendations. Thanks Santos Fuegos for being one of the highlights of our Mexico trip!

I’ve been for 2 weeks in Mexico, ending my holidays on this beautiful island and I have to say the one at Santos Fuegos was the best meal I had in my entire vacation! I’m in love with the sharing plates concept as well as the way all the dishes are cooked in the fire oven. Everything is so tasty, food pairings are studied to give the main ingredients a huge sprint. All the sauces, citrus, herbs flavours are making fish and meat explode in your mouth. As well, cocktails are very good with high quality spirits! If you pass by Holbox, you MUST eat at Santos Fuegos!
