Overall, I have really mixed feelings about this place. The surrounding landscape and neighborhood feels really nice and could potentially afford a high quality of life. The church itself looks good and its architectural relevance for Brazil has been pointed out by many people. So if I were to evaluated this place just on that basis, it would be a 5/5.
That said, as this is part of a UNESCO world heritage ensemble, the standards have to be higher than just being a nice building with some history. It has to have relevance to the world. And if you compare this church to many of the amazing churches in Europe, or many of the other amazing world heritage sites, it is massively underwhelming. As some people are traveling the world to see monuments of great significance, one can only warn them that they should likely not plan a trip to Belo Horizonte (or Brazil) just for this sight. If you are in the area anyways, sure, it’s worth to check out but I would not recommend to go out of your way to visit it.
On the plus side, lots of public street parking was available— which is a rare feat for many UNESCO world heritage sites.
