Santuario de Fauna y Flora Los Flamencos

We organized a tour through our hotel in Palomino and paid $250.000.00 COP/person that included transportation, the boat tour with guide and lunch. The sailboats are very primitive but the water is very shallow so we felt safe with our children with our knowledgeable guide. It was incredible to see flamingos in their natural habitat- we visited in December and saw a flock of 30. My favorite part was when they took to flight as we approached. Try some camarones for lunch! They're caught in the same bay.

Great place for birding! 🦜🦅🦉🦢 Camarones is a nice small town in this "dry forest" area (desert brush and trees),l. And nearby Mar Azul has good air-conditioned cabins close to the beach, and a good open-air restaurant overlooking the Caribbean.

Great day trip when staying in Palomino. Really easy to go on your own. We took a shuttle from Palomino, got off just past the tolls, there was a guide waiting along the highway who took us the rest of the way.

Beautifull place for birding ! we went there in October and had the chance to see multiple groups of Flamingos. The nature is also stunning and the guide super friendly.

The site is impressive - however, the organisation is a disaster and totally irresponsible. I would not recommend it. Not respectful of people, treating them like cash machine. We went there asking them how long the trip would take and advising them that we have a flight to take as it was on the way to the airport. They promised with a big smile and high optimism that - of course, we will make it back on time - as soon as we took off, when we realised how far the flamingos were, we suggested timing might be tight - they reassured all fine. We asked twice during the trip and had to insist to go back. Results, we came back 45 min later, running through the mud and had answer from the boat driver “your time, your responsibility”. Ended up missing our flight - they just want to get tourist money and will promise everything which is truly disrespectful and gutting.

Beautiful place to see flamingoes in Colombia, I arrived on my own taking a bus from Palomino to Camarones. The community has some tourist guides who wait for you in the bus stop and take you by motorcycle to the beach where the boats are. You navigate for approximately 20 minutes. Make sure to wear sunscreen because you’ll be under the sun for a couple of hours

Unforgettable experience! The place is clean, the service is amazing and the tour guides are friendly, willing to help and solve questions. I got attended by Brayan, super friendly and helpful. The price is decent for the experience, the tour took about 2 hours and we got the lucky to see a lot of flamencos! Was magic.
