For anyone concerned about trash: Sao Beach really is as beautiful as it looks in my photos. Yes, there are a few areas with litter, mostly near undeveloped or empty properties, but it’s no worse than many other beaches in Southeast Asia. Especially after rainy season. Overall, the beach is stunning, the water is clean (no trash floating in it), and there are plenty of great cafés and restaurants at reasonable prices.
I’m not sugarcoating anything, waste management is a real issue across Asia. But Sao Beach is nowhere near as bad as some reviews make it sound. In fact, it’s one of the most beautiful beaches I’ve ever visited. The areas with sunbeds, cafés, and restaurants are well-maintained, clean, and spotless.
