I recently visited this charming place! The staff were incredibly open and friendly, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, setting the perfect tone for a great lunch. The food was nothing short of authentic and delicious. What really stood out was how I left the restaurant: not just with a delicious meal, but also with a smile and a good mood. It’s the kind of place that brightens your day! Highly recommend if you’re in the mood for great food and even better social interaction.

This is the best (!) and most authentic Italian food you will get in Basel; not to mention the very reasonable prices. You will be greeted with the biggest smile and a "Buon Giorno" and feel like family. Great food to take out (no indoor seating), I personally recommend one of the freshly made sandwiches: Reuben / Pastrami. Simple and excellent! If you're looking for some delicious gifts this is also right to find some nice Panettone, Pasta etc. Very glad this gem exists!

I had really high expectations following the other reviews here. But I got the cartocciato prosciutto, which on the menu is 6Fr and he charged me 8Fr. The food itself was really bland and left a lot to be desired, the ham was nice but the cheese quite flavourless. Wouldn't recommend

A little gem that deserves a visit. A takeway restaurant with a nice selection of authentic Italian “fast” dishes, managed by a lovely owner. The arancino alla norma was pretty good, but the pastrami outshined it. It was exceptional.

The best pastrami sandwich I’ve ever had and the gelato is simply delicious. This place is as popular as the owner. If you lucky to find his mom when you visit, you might learn some Italian words. The old lady is very friendly, kind and welcoming.

Just visited - fantastic pastrami sandwich (especially for this price in Basel!), lovely owner who was very welcoming. I've recommended it to my friends, and I will be back to try the other offerings in this shop :)

Excellent Arancini. OK pastrami - not a lot of pastrami the bread was good. Sandwich comes with a pickle. Service was prompt and friendly.

This little takeout place is run by the nicest mother and son duo. On our first night in Basel we learned how early many places shut down. We spotted Sapori Del Sud and made it a point to come back the next day when they were open. That was a great decision. A majority of the restaurants on this particular street were insanely expensive. We just wanted a quick lunch before we got back to exploring. We were able to get a nice lasagna for a reasonable price. We liked it so much that we ended up walking back to get gelato for dessert later. The son kept apologizing to me because he didn't speak English but there was no need to apologize for that! I was able to use Google Translate to tell him in Italian that we enjoyed their food very much. It was great seeing their faces light up when they heard that. I'm really glad I got to meet these two and enjoy their food on this journey.

A super nice and passionate guy running this awesome little joint in the peaceful town of Basel, with his sweet mama helping in the back. We didn't get to try the lasagna or gelatos but the pastrami sandwich was one of the best I've ever had!

10CH for a big pastrami sandwich is almost unheard of in Basel, let alone a country as pricey (at least for food) as Switzerland! Lucky enough it was only a 5 minute walk to the tiny shop and even though we went during it's opening, a line was already beginning to form. We were immediately greeted by the shop owner in Italian and although he spoke very little English, he was very friendly and even offered us a sample of the pastrami meat. It was delicious and moved forward to buy 2 sandwiches. In minutes the sandwich was made a voila we had our breakfast in hand. The sandwich was warm and crunchy, filled with generous amounts of pastrami, cheese, and mustard with a pickle on the side. Though a simple sandwich all together it was executed perfectly, making it one of the better breakfasts I've had on this trip!
