"Palermo has its own take on pizza, that beloved Italian dish. Sfincione is a deep-dish pie with a thick base of soft dough that resembles focaccia. The olive oil–infused bottom is dark brown and crisp; the topping is tomato sauce, sautéed onions, Caciocavallo cheese and bread crumbs. Sapurito Cucina Povera e Pizza specializes in down-home dishes like this."

Absolutely phenomenal! Our first true Sicilian dining experience at Sapurito Cucina Povera e Pizza in Palermo was nothing short of a 5-star culinary adventure. From the moment we stepped in, the warm and inviting atmosphere embraced us, setting the stage for an unforgettable meal. We started with the "fry for the table," which was a delightful medley of crispy, perfectly seasoned bites – an absolute must-try! The pasta alla Norma was a revelation, showcasing the simple yet profound flavors of Sicilian cuisine. The fried cod fish was equally exquisite, light, and perfectly cooked. Even our children, who can be picky eaters, devoured their crispy fries and delicious pizza. What truly elevated our experience was the exceptional wine recommendation. The staff's knowledge and passion for local wines were evident, and the bottle they suggested paired perfectly with our meal. We were so impressed that we brought a bottle home to savor the memory. Sapurito Cucina Povera e Pizza is a true gem in Palermo. The food is authentic, the service is impeccable, and the atmosphere is charming. If you're looking for an authentic and delicious Sicilian dining experience, look no further. Highly recommended!

Very nice out-of-the-way restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating on a relatively calm Palermo street. Very good service and delicious plates.

My wife had a great steak. I had Pasta alla Norma with some tradtional Trapanese pasta and it was great Went back on the 13th because we wanted more after first visit. Said they opened at 6:30 ,but our 7 reservation had to be moved to 7:30 as no one on their staff ready. OK so far. I guess. Then the steak from last time was gone replaced by dry cutlet. Wife's involtini was just nasty. Just to round out our evening seated a loud and annoying 6 member, 4 of them children, family right next to us. Saddens me this visit was so much worse than first visit. May try again for 2 out of 3, but they may just not care on Mondays. Was a totally different crew thaan first time.. Terrible night.

They make the BEST pizza, only after 7pm. Pasta with eggplant was also very good.

What a rare find in a very busy commercially touristic city. Amazing Scicilian food, so good. Service was amazing. Venue perfect. We had a starter to share, two main, water, bread and two alcoholic drinks each and it came to 70 euros. Amazing value for the food we had. The rolled swordfish was out of this world. Thank you.

Great portion sizes, absolutely delicious food, waiters seemed unbothered despite me being the only one in the restaurant, but I'd forgive them if they stabbed me because of the food. Highly recommend! I ordered the cuci pizza and fried zucchini

Ok, this is THE PLACE. Nothing else to say, really. Best pizza EVER. They have an awesome menu of pizza and pasta and apetizers. Everything is incredibly tasty, the ingredients are exquisite, fresh, absolutely delicious. We loved everything here, and we will come back every and each time we’ll be in Palermo. Highly recommended

We had the daily specials. They were delicious, and only €10 each. 👍 Very cute inside. Our waiter seemed a bit disinterested - needing to be prompted for everything.

Yelp
We had a wonderful dinner last night at Sapurito Cucina Povera in the Politeama. We started off with amazing stuffed zucchini blossoms. For main courses we had pasta con sarde, pasta con vongole, pasta con salsicce, and involtini with roast potatoes. To accompany our meal some had a Cataratto from Alessandro di Camporeale and others sampled some Italian craft beers. We had incredible service from Valentina. It was a lovely evening and I will be back.

Yelp
Great dinner in Palermo. Buffalo mozzarella with prosciutto, tomatoes & basil was a treat. Risotto with pineapple and shrimp was an excellent choice. Glad our hotel made this recommendation!
