Saraga International Grocery

Today I came to this store to buy cheese, and it's five months past its expiration date. The people here have put a fake label on it with a false date to deceive customers into buying expired cheese. The health department should conduct an inspection because of the unsanitary conditions and the expired products they are selling.

Ive been on my healthy journey, with fresh foods, meats, vegetables, fruits, etc. They have a huge selection of variety of ethnic and cultural foods. Such as Caribbean, African, Indian, Asian, South American, foods. The associates are from those places which helps with authenticity and great team of workers who care about there products and people they service. My first time going was back in January and 5 team members helped me retrieve 1 Caribbean item that was needed for me to complete my dish. I'm Caribbean by the way. Great people, Great store environment, Great Service. Also, knowledgeable and recommended the best and exclusive products of their homeland. I definitely RECOMMEND this SARAGA INTERNATIONAL GROCERY to anyone looking for the BEST IN QUALITY AND SERVICE. For as long as I'm here in INDIANAPOLIS, IN. Im FOREVER going to SARAGA INTERNATIONAL GROCERY. Yes and also always CLEAN and aisles STOCKED.

I go here to get the different meats for my dogs food and have never bought any bad meat from here. I also like to get different ingredients for cooking and this is the best place that I found that has so many different varieties of different countries. When I go, the store has always been clean. The cashiers and security guard has always been nice and friendly. I only took a couple of pictures that I sent a friend of mine when I go again I’ll get more pictures to post

Store need more space.., crowded., Love those asian stuffs/groceries! if you have a bigger space, no people will drive to chicago to buy international groceries... 8/16 downgraded to 1 star today. Most of the itema marked in the shelf are not the same when they punch it in the cashier.. just notice it when they printes the receipt and i check it when i got home. Seems like being scammed.. maybe they didnt update the price in their shelves? And also, lots of flies in their bakery today.... please clean up your place

We ordered fried fish and chicken from the quick service restaurant which was good. They should add lemon slices for the fish entree for added flavor. As far as the store goes, everything looks fresh from seafood to produce. They have a lot of exotic produce but you won't find everything that you're looking for. I would recommend adding soursop fruit and various fruits and vegetables that are only found on the African continent.

This was a super cool collection of foods, spices, veggies and so much more from all over the place. Neatly put together and really easy to navigate. We spent a lot of time exploring all the aisles. I was very impressed.

I recommend everyone and theirs mothers go to Saraga. Specifically this one and the one in Castleton. You find a variety of items from all around the world to buy and try. The selection of fresh meats and fish is large and all the employees are very kind.

I love going to this place to get any types of seafood that you want inexpensively oysters and crab legs etc

Note - I am your basic white guy from Indiana. I am not a spanish speaking man nor is my wife. And great news....this was not an issue and did not hinder us one bit. You will never find a better store for veggies and fruits. And my wife and I have found great treats from Mexico and South American countries. The service is friendly and what is so interesting is the number of fun food vendors exist inside the store that sell great stuff to eat...chicken...bakery items and pastries and Corn dogs of sorts and more. If you have not been here - you will be surprised at how fun it is to shop here. One other comment...this is the most well organized and clean looking place I have ever been to. Every shelf was just perfectly neat. I considere this one of my favorite spots to shop.

I love Saraga so much. The store is huge and has a massive amount of foods from around the world. In the winter, be prepared that it'll be cold...it just always is like that in cold weather. In the summer, keep your eyes out for a Mexican fruit stand where you can get the freshest fruit with lime juice and chili pepper. It's amazing. Inside, you'll find produce from everywhere and an aisles for every country/region in the world. It's phenomenal. During the weekend and evenings, there'll be a line at checkout, but they usually move pretty quickly. Highly recommend for a lovely hour or two spent wandering and trying interesting new foods!

This store is amazing! I love the openness of it the bright lights there protest section is to die for and explains the different produce, although I really had to look a few up just to see if I could make use of them. I want to go back again, and again. I also purchased from a little bakery shop in the front of the store and did a separate review on that location. Amazing! I didn't see anybody to ask for any questions or anything like that, but it was late in the evening and I was close to closing time. Just the amount of variety of produce and products from all of the various countries, and even the amazing amounts of seafood were so impressive. I have been to international stores before, especially in the produce section or the seafood section and the smell can be overwhelming. However, here it was fresh and vibrant and it was not offputting in the least and I got to explore so many different cultures and things I want to try a later date I did not make it through the entire store before it was time to close, so I definitely will be back, if you enjoy international food or products, you really need to go and this location was so clean and inviting you will definitely enjoy your trip.

I've always wanted to come to this store and finally had the chance to visit. It has an amazing selection of produce, and what I loved is that there are items that aren't typically found, so I loved just checking out the variety. There is also a great selection of seafood, meats, and just in general everything. I had a great time wandering the isles and just looking around. I ended up purchasing, tomatoes on the vine, since they are my favorite and I eat them like apples. A ramen bowl that had a pretty design, as well as several different packages of ramen to try. I'm excited to make them and "church" them up with eggs, onions and some other things. All around awesome store and I can't wait to get back!

How did I not find this market earlier? This store is huge and there are soooo many food options. There's also a small food court and the "Asian snacks" restaurant is so good!!!! The prices are a little expensive but it is what it is when there aren't really many other options for ethnic foods here!

This international food mart just (finally!) opened 12/23/22 and we stopped by in 12/31. Located in the old target off 82nd in Castleton. Basically offers anything you can think off! Huge variety of fruits, veggies, seafood, meats, everything. Rows of canned and dry goods are arrange by country/ ethnicity. Also several side cafes inside offering a variety of meals to eat there. Only downside is I will need to spend a LOT more time there to get familiar with all the offerings. #yum #ReviewsByRL

I have never seen so many different types of food in one place. I was on a quest for rice noodles and found an entire aisle devoted to noodles of all sizes, content and shapes. They carry EVERYTHING! Plantains to yucca chips. The store is huge. And packed. There were 100s of patrons in the store during my visit. They carry ingredients for Asian, African, middle Eastern and Latin American cuisine. Everything. The produce looked fresh and exotic. The prices were great. I picked up Asian eggplant for 88c cents a pound and the most amazing ginger root that I have ever seen. I picked up bean sprouts and jalapeños. There was a large meat counter with about 20 people in line. They have large racks filled with dried peppers. Any pepper that you can imagine. There was also a fresh baked goods section at the front of the store. I would have bought more, but the store was just too packed with people (not wearing masks) for my comfort. The checkout lines were long. I recommend coming early on a weekday to shop.

Took a self guided tour of Saraga this past Saturday. 100% recommend it. The Bakery was impressive the produce exceptional! I did some research prior to arriving on some of the products and will continue that practice. Best selection of herbs, fruits and veggies I've seen. Prices are less than other stores in my opinion. My finds for the week were all types of mushrooms, basil, cilantro, mint, bean sprouts, sauces, noodles, oils, spices, teas, peppers and soy sauces.

Just called to see if they had handicap access to electrical carts, lady said no. I wana come buy as a customer, but I cannot walk entire store! O ther stores supply them as I am soo grateful!! Saraga international something to think about. Any other people out there need stores have accessible carts for handicap

Asia Snack is inside Saraga and it is amazing! They have real beef noodle soup. Ask for it Sichuan spicy. Trust me on this one. Try a beef cake or a leek cake on the side.

Saraga is a truly beautiful place & I didn't realize JUST how much I valued it until they were closed for several months due to a fire. Good news for you and me, they are back and better than ever! Aisles overflowing with ingredients from around the world- if you can't find something interesting then I think that's on you. Items are arranged by cuisine type so check the signs above the aisle if you're looking for something specific. Even still, because there's so much, it can take some time to familiarize yourself with the layout. Expect lengthy lines for checkout on the weekends Bonus** the BEST Chinese food in Indy is right there in the store at Asian Snack

I finally went here!!!! I knew I'd love this place, and the more I explored the aisles, the more I appreciated it. This international market sells food and snacks from TONS of countries around the world. You'll be delighted by the wide selection. Walking the aisles will seriously inspire you to expand your palate and weekly meals. My favorite parts: the unique produce (sugarcane, dragonfruit, chiles, etc), an entire aisle of different types of mini frozen dumplings and mochi and sesame seed balls, and TWO entire aisles of teas from around the world. I haven't been able to find a tea I love at my usual grocery, so it was *incredibly* exciting to find so many new flavors. There was tea from China, Japan, England, and more. I'll be back for the tea alone! I also encountered some of my favorite snacks I enjoyed in Spain (shout out to Principe cookies- mmmm). It seriously brought me back to my espanola days. There was also a mini Mexican bakery by the cashiers. All different languages were being spoken at the cash register and it was seriously awesome. I wanted to hang out there forever. Excited for their second location in Castleton! (I only knocked off a star because both avocados I got weren't in great condition). Oh well, I'll try again next time and pay double attention to produce quality.

I imagine Heaven looks something like Saraga. A melting pot of humans from throughout the world converging to celebrate their boundary-less love of food. My visits to Saraga serve as chicken soup for the soul. I'll also add that it's about the cheapest and most vibrant international trip we can take in our backyard. I can't believe I am just now writing this review for the first time. The minute you walk in the door you are greeted with the most diverse slice of the Circle City's population, fishy meets fruity smells and colors galore thanks to the first section in the store being produce. Let me start with the produce section... I guarantee you will walk out learning a new-to-you herb, fruit or veggie during your visit. I challenge you to buy one of those items and take it home to keep the culinary adventure going. Next to the produce section you'll find the somewhat smelly fish and meat section - I must confess, I hold my breath but can't help but eye the diverse cuts of meat and fish as I make way back to the dairy section. Saraga offers consumers just about everything you could need for your typical grocery trip along with a wide variety of hard-to-find spices, meats, cheeses and so on from around the globe. Oh, and how could I forget that there is also a mini Mexican bakery and dim sum shop all under the same roof? It's truly an adventure and I bet your bottom you won't be able to leave without taking a picture.

Voluptuous women and gentlemen pass. He comes from behind the last unopened checkout to check her out closer today. Initial purchase of Lemons/ waiting on Saraga worker to locate items from cooler. Waiting beside cashier at same checkout lane worker brings the package, purchased and into reusable sack., When leaving tried to mix in with others leaving to avoid guard, guard gets in the fray, Sh*****eating grin offers help. "Let's go I come with you, no thanks" Guard holds onto cart and asks to help her outside. Speaking Spanish she reenters store-leaving cart and purse with GUARD holding the cart. She tells entire store he's touching her things, it's not necessary and tell him to leave her alone. Guard still smiling, even though Spanish caused store clerks to look and the cashier comes over and tell him to leave her alone Finally let go and she leaves Near assault by employees in 2023 in Castleton, IN, unbelievable

So I have loved Saraga for years. I like to cook Korean food, and they have a great Korean section (still waiting on a local H-Mart!!). I hadn't been back since the fire and renovation. Their meat department has always been my go-to for hard to find cuts. I bought some pork belly 2 days ago and all the "fixins" for ssamjang. The date to "eat by" on the package said 11/1/22, four days from the day I was going to cook it - opened the package and hit by a horrible smell and the meat was slimy and sticky to the touch. Needless to say I immediately washed my hands really well and went to Brothers' Oriental grocery for some edible pork belly!! SO disappointed in Saraga!! I really hope Saraga hasn't gone down since the pandemic started!!

First time in, wanted to purchase a gift card but waited at customer service for 10 minutes and didn't see anyone so I left.

This is my favorite grocery store in all of Indianapolis, and I'm so happy it's open again after so many months closed. If you want anything outside of generic American groceries, this is the place to find it. You'll find all kinds of fresh fruit and produce, canned and dry products, frozen good and more. It's very international, with aisles dedicated to different regions and cuisines. The revamp of the grocery store makes the whole place feel more spacious. While I miss the old structure of some areas, soon I'll be acquainted with the new organization of everything. There's amazing restaurants inside the grocery store as well, they're one of the many reasons I make the drive out here.

Best prices and cuts for pork belly. Herbs and vegetable variety is unlike what I have seen elsewhere. The smell comes from the live fish and fresh meat butchers. Huge selection of oriental treats, pastes and seasonings. Best prices and huge variety for Gyoza. It is easy to get lost in Saraga. They have so much that it inspires you to make all kinds of dishes. If you are gonna go, make sure you have some time on your hands. Trust me!

As others have noted, this is the place to go for those hard-to-find ingredients. There are shelves of different types of soy sauce alone! Large bags of spices, and ingredients like sesame seeds, are available for a very low price. On this trip, I was in search of some Indian chutneys, and a few Asian sauces. Products are roughly organized by cuisine type, but be sure to check other aisles if you can't find something. I also bought some frozen Asian dumplings. They have a wide selection of these as well as filled steamed buns; the pork are particularly good! I bought some frozen samosas too; they look good and seemed in good shape. This could not be said for the Indian dessert items which looked like they had been thawed and re-frozen a few times (swollen box, with cardboard that had seen better days...).I did not buy those items. The produce section has a lot of hard to find items, but some have seen better days. It's not unusual for there to be a rotting produce smell in this section. Choose carefully and you'll be fine. I bought a few nice looking pomegranates for 99 cents each. No, this isn't the cleanest or best organized store. Some aisles are always blocked with boxes, some shelves are disorganized with a kind of rampage, thrift store look, and no, it doesn't always smell fresh in here. But...don't be scared off by that. Shopping here is an experience and even if you're just coming in for one thing I recommend wandering the aisles. I find I usually spend an hour or so here just wandering...and I usually leave with more than I planned on buying.

Whenever I miss home terribly (which is a lot) I go to Saraga and buy foods that I grew up eating. In the years since I started going to Saraga, I can say that the store has gotten better. Years ago, you would walk into the store and the smell would hit you and it was overwhelming. Now, it just smells clean and fresh. The selection is wonderful and I love exploring and trying new foods in addition to revisiting old favorites. I love that they have fish tanks in the meat section so you know that your fish is fresh and the vegetable selection is fantastic. They even have some quirky selections that I haven't been brave enough to try but I'm sure I will. If you're someone who lives international foods and trying new things, take a jaunt over to Saraga; you never know what will ticket your palate!

Visited on a Monday so not a lot of people. Had a potato dog at the famous Korn's. Loved looking at the different foods.

I could shop in this place for hours. Today was a quick trip for some Thai peppers and veggies. Lots of helpful workers. Everyone wearing a mask. Quick and easy check out. I appreciate that they take Apple Pay. Less to touch as you finish up the transaction. You really must go and often. Great prices.

Been going here for years. Huge place with products from and ingredients used in Mexican, Japanese, Vietnamese, Korean, Indian, etc. cuisines. They have some of the best deals on veggies/fruits, seafood, and meat in town. I get my bulgogi meat, oxtail for my pho, rice, ramen, snacks, kimchi, sauces/spices, and veggies here. It's really hard not to go through every isle and go, "Oooo what's this," and end up with stuff in your cart you didn't plan on getting just to experiment. Matcha noodles? Potato spicy ramen? Red bean mochi? Mexican coconut candy? Grass jelly juice? List goes on forever. They also sell affordable supplies, cookware, and souvenir type items that you would typically see in an Asian household. I'm sorry I can't describe that better. You'll know what I mean when you go there. However, don't expect a retail chain type of cleanliness here. It's more like a farmers market cleanliness level. Somethings aren't always fresh so make sure to check for expiration dates or wait until the next batch of fresh stuff to come in (Thursdays?). Every now and then I can't find things because they rearrange the store or sometimes change out inventory. The workers sometimes know where things are and sometimes they don't. At least they try to help you though. I believe on the weekends they have roasted duck and such but sell out quickly. Over the years they have added a couple of snack stores, which the savory scents attack you when you first walk in and make you hungry. There's an Asian and Mexican snack store and a Mexican bakery.

This place is insane! So many options of produce, seafood, meat etc. Price seems high relative to a Meijer or local supermarket; however, it is a specialty store. Will be returning, love this store

You know those recipes where there's one ingredient that you've NEVER heard of so you go to Google and search "XX substitute?" Chances are Saraga has that spice/herb/ingredient...and every other possible substitute. Looking for a way to spice up and impress guests with international ingredients or ingredients they've/you've never heard of? This is your go-to. A quick 10 minute drive from downtown Indy, Saraga is a MUST for international ingredients. It is HUGE, with stuff from all over the world. They've got you covered from baked goods, to produce from all over the world, to seafood, to pig heads, to dry goods, to teas, to desserts, to basically everything. It's all extremely relatively priced considering that many of the ingredients came from across the globe. I always get so excited when I come here. No, it's not the cleanest place, but get passed that and you'll be fine. A MUST if you're an Indy native and you've never been!

Wow, if the cities I lived in had a market like this, I would've cooked every type of dish I've ever wanted! There is no limit to the fish, dumplings, spices, noodles, or even vegetables that you want to try if you come here. They have niche veggies, many options of canned food, packaged items, and even two restaurants inside for your choosing. Asian and mexican food it seemed, with some pretty tasty food out front that made me think this was the place to go for authenticity. I've been looking for berbere seasoning, for ethiopian cooking, in stores forever. Without even trying, I came across a giant, 3$ bag of it and I was astounded! So happy to have come here by my friends suggestion, as he's from the area and was interested in grabbing some items. The ideal place for the basics, or to find something new!

I love the variety of everything that they offer. Finding things that I did not grow up seeing in a grocery store is my idea of a good time. I just love bringing home a new fruit or vegetable that I have no idea what it is or how it will taste or how to prepare it. To Google! I also love watching cooking videos on YouTube and recreating the recipes but it usually involves an ingredient I don't have & have never used before. I can usually find it here. My only complaint is cleanliness. The seafood area concerns me & the bathroom is not very pleasant.

Limited supply of the good items. All the stuff I like is never in stock. Coffee, beef sausage, etc never in stock.

My favorite Indy grocery store bar none. I live clear across town, but I make it a point to venture here as often as I can. Saraga is a large international grocery store featuring exceptionally diverse staff, customers, food, and ingredients. The aisles are logically organized by culture, region, and cuisine - e.g. Mexican, Filipino, Korean, Chinese, Japanese, Indian, Vietnamese, European, African, and so on. The produce section is just as diverse, and the fish counter hosts live fish that the staff will filet for you. Prices are cheap if you're used to shopping at chain grocery stores, and comparable to other international / Asian markets in Indy. There's a quality Mexican bakery at the front of the store that is ridiculously cheap, as well as a small taqueria and a small Chinese eatery (featuring mostly Cantonese and street food staples) elsewhere in the store. You may feel intimidated by Saraga if you're not used to shopping at international or Asian markets. While staff here are kind, they often are not so in the "Hey there, how ya doin?!" style you'd expect in a Western chain grocery store. While the store is clean, it isn't staged like a Western chain grocery store, so it may appear a little more disheveled than you're used to. I encourage you to push through any initial awkwardness and just have fun. Bring a friend if it helps. Pick up some ingredients you've inevitably never heard of. Ask questions at the fish counter. Explore. Source ingredients for that perfect bowl of pho or ramen. You'll likely find yourself returning here more and more, and it may quickly become your favorite place to shop as it is mine.

This place is HUGE!! I saw a tax service area. And even though it is an Asian market because of the overwhelming abundance of Hispanics in this side of town there were dedicated aisles with authentic Mexican food! Browsing through produce dept I saw very unusual items that I had no idea what they were. But to be honest you have to pick carefully through produce for there were many items that looked LESS than desirable in freshness. Prices were higher than what I'm used to as well. I thought against getting anything other than limes. It's been a few years since I visited. It is an interesting place to browse throw for sure!

We are from out of town but visited this grocery when we were in Indy visiting family. We were looking for Asian food ingredients to make won tons and dumplings. The store is immense. It appears to have most anything you could ever want, but the arrangement and layout is confusing. The seafood seemed very fresh and there was an interesting variety. The produce section is huge. I have never seen so many kinds of choy. We were looking for won ton wrappers, which come frozen. We found Korean ones in the back of the store but not the Taiwanese brand we like. We asked four associates who did not know. We finally located them in a long freezer case behind the produce area. I wanted Wasabi peas, and I went in circles looking for them. I finally asked a store associate, who helped me to find some and then led me four aisles over to find another kind. On one side, they have Halal meats. In the front of the store, there is an Asian snack bar where we bought tasty onion pancakes. They also have a Latino restaurant area. This may be the only place of its kind in the area. Once you learn your way around, it would be fine. My advice is to draw a map or a maze so you don't get lost looking for those specialty items.

All the Asian food you want are here. The store is big . And the staff are friendly... this is my stop when I go Asian food...

I am in Asian food paradise when shopping here and have to be dragged away when shopping with my unsuspecting friends. I love so many aspects about this place that I will have a word vomit if I don't just list my top 10 reasons. Here you go in no specific order! 1. It's a melting pot of all things Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Indian, Thai, Vietnamese etc that I love! 2. You can buy freshly cooked food at the Mexican bakery, Mexican restaurant, and Chinese restaurant. In addition there is a whole aisle dedicated to prepared and ready to eat Korean dishes. 3. Am a big fan of incorporating fruit and vegetables into my diet so am so excited to see that they have the biggest variety I've seen in Indy. For example: fresh Jack Fruit, Dragon Fruit, fresh sugarcane, and chili pepper varieties. 4. The biggest noodle selection ever! From egg noodles to vermicelli, to ramen to potato to udon and on and on! I am all about the noodle life! 5. A great place to find those hard to find spices, herbs, and sauces. 6. Great selection of fresh and frozen meats and fresh caught seafood that can be prepared right in front of you. 7. Everything is very decently priced considering a lot of it has been imported to the states. 8. Asian restaurant favorite dishes- mung bean moon cakes, sautéed shredded potatoes, and Sichuan Beef Noodles. 9. Favorite ingredients I get: Chinkiang vinegar for dumplings and Chinese dishes, Lao Gan Ma (spicy chili sauce that's good with everything), Chinese sausage, Mapo Doufu sauce, and dumplings! 10. They have all of those hard to find ingredients here. There's so much to explore; please don't limit yourself to what you know.

This is the Willy Wonka of grocery stores. Has absolutely everything you can need for those pesky ingredients you can't find at a regular grocery store. Produce is full of curiosities and the meats offer a sprawling array of different cuts you can't get anywhere else. Will I ever BUY raw pig hearts or fermented duck eggs? Probably not. But hey I like having the option! I just came here for ingredients to make Korean radish kimchi and they had everything I needed, plus some things I didn't but I got anyway. It's truly an adventure coming here, just be sure to wear a jacket as it's very chilly inside.

Okay this place is amazing & is a hidden gem! I had no idea it existed until I was looking for very specific ingredients that the local stores did not carry so I found them on google! Its not in the best part of town, but it will be well worth your time. This place has a variety of things & had exactly what I was looking for. Each aisle is done by culture/country. I definitely want to return and take a better look around and see what all they have. I am not sure how their prices compare. This place reminds me a smaller version of Jungle Jim's in Ohio. Huge parking lot which is great because this place was super packed.

The place has an off smell the moment you walk in. But if you can get past the produce/meat area it doesn't smell so much anymore. Idk exactly what I was expecting, but I didn't really get it here. They shelves are packed with tons of things I have no clue what they are. Not everything had a price. The store was crowded. I loved the tea aisle! Probably my favorite. I have never so many beautiful looking teas in fancy tea jars. They had all sorts to offer. Asian, Indo-Paki, Middle Eastern, Island. They sell Moroccan sardines which are hard to find in Chicago. I know I'm gross. Haha I eat them bc they're packed full of goodness not bc I necessarily like them. Also they bring back memories of eating them along with pita with my dad. Al-sharak brand with the carrot and pepper to be exact. They also had the best brand of Ginger beer!! I almost bought some, but did not. If I were in the area again I'd stop in again.

You know those annoying cooking shows and recipes that include the worlds most unique ingredients that are impossible to find? This is the place to get them! While the staff is not incredibly helpful, the unique items, spices, fish and ingredients here are difficult to find at any other supermarket. The produce is affordable and plentiful. There is literally something from every culture here, which is so incredible and much needed in such a diverse city. If you want to use new ingredients or spice up your palate, this is the place to go to keep it spicy and innovative. The bread comes out of the bakery steaming hot and the fish market can cut the fresh fish for you in more ways than I thought possible. Check it out!

If they had zero stars that's what I would of have gave them. I came to saraga early in the morning because I'm an early bird and less people. But I've been here 8am and still standing here just to get 2 lbs of shrimp. I ask one of the guys that I just need shrimp he told me to get a number but there is nobody here at all. It only could of took 2 seconds. They have no excuse they can't tell me it's pandemic what other explanation do u have and I'm pregnant.

OMW! Walking into this store is like walking into Santa's work shop for cooks. Large produce department with produce I've never seen or heard of so I need to get busy trying new recipes. Thank goodness for goggle. The store is huge but well organized. You'll know the lay of the land after one trip. I did find several of the American products were more expensive than Krogers but many other items were much cheaper. Many types of fresh and frozen meats and seafood with a large meat department. The butcher I spoke to was super friendly and very helpful. I mentioned they should have cooking classes to teach folks how to prepare all the exotic products they carry. He did think about it for a moment and mentioned space would be an issue. Regardless be prepared to spend a while exploring the store. Rows of can goods, kitchen items, plus so much more. Don't miss the bakery in front of the store to the right as you walk in. Refrigerator has delicious flan, flan cake with breads, cookies, pastries in the glass cases. My husband loves the large donuts and chooses as his dessert over pie or cake. Flan of any kind is my personal favorite. Grab a tray with tongs and select your favorites from the cases but ask for help with fridge desserts. Then pay at bakery counter.

This place is massive! Such a variety of food and drink all at a fairly convenient location. I have still so much yet to explore in terms of my buying power because I feel there is much more knowledge to be gained in the world cuisines that are covered at Saraga. For example, I have recently lived in both Turkey and South Korea and when I shop at Saraga, there are maybe two whole aisles dedicated to foods in Turkish supermarkets and two whole aisles dedicated to those foods from South Korea. To see those familiar brands makes me smile and brings back fond memories. In terms of produce, I don't know if they are missing ANY fruit or veggie, but to be honest, things could be fresher. Today, I picked up a potato, placed it back down, and a swarm of bugs came flying at me. Also, the green vegetables seem to be more wilted than at any other grocery store. But if you look at my pictures attached to this review, you will understand that they have everything and I am so in love. Saraga has enabled me to cook all my foreign dishes and embrace my asian side. If the produce was a bit fresher and American products weren't so expensive, I would shop exclusively there, but we honestly can't expect that...I mean, where else would they make their profit. Certainly not in the $3.80 for well over of a pound of ground pork and not in the $3.90 for over a pound of ground beef. Their seafood looks so fresh and I can't wait to take a live crab home or something! Do they do that? Haha but anyways, Saraga makes me happy and if I didn't have a family to go home to at night, I might buy a cot and set it up in the Japanese snack section.

I've been here several times and the diversity of food is always baffling. They have just about everything you could want from an assortment of countries around the world. Tons of fresh and exotic produce, spices, grains, canned goods, drinks, candy, etc. etc. The main problem here is the cleanliness. I'm not at all surprised that it's currently closed down for 3 major health code violations and I hope they take the time to really give this place the deep clean it so desperately needs (and deserves). I don't eat meat but I can't imagine they have the most sanitary setup here. After I leave here my clothes smell like fish for a couple days, no joke. I'm not sure if their ventilation just isn't very good or lots of meat/fish are not being stored/maintained properly. 5 Stars for the food selection but maybe a 3 for cleanliness. I'm hoping we see a massive improvement once they open up because Indy needs a grocery store like this and it'd be a shame to lose it.

Visited for first time this week and was very impressed. Great variety of fruits, veggies, meats, seafood and other items from around the world. Any ethic food you desire, its here! Plan on spending some time here to browse all aisles. Cool place...

Enormous variety of everything up under the sun: fresh fish/ fresh meats/ fresh veggies/ noodles anything you need you can find out. When it gets busy, checkout lanes are slow, other than that shop till you drop.

Unlike many people, I love to go to the grocery store. Going to this store is a special treat. I love to look at the products from all of the different countries. The produce intrigues me. I would buy a lot more if I knew what to do with it. The produce department was large and everything looked fresh. Some prices seemed a little high to me, but there were some things that seemed very reasonable. I bought some beautiful beets to make pickled beets which I love. The fresh fish and meat were outstanding. If you need rice or noodles, or some type of sauce to cook with, this is the place to go. At the front of the store is a Mexican bakery. The things in there look delightful. I will find out tomorrow as I bought 4 things. They each were large enough to share and my bill was a whopping $3.49. Check this place out and buy something different.
