Google
We visited Saratoga downtown & walked down to the State Park! Simply beautiful! There are multiple wooded trails, beautiful pathways & the iconic spa buildings that are a photographers dream! The park was peaceful & we enjoyed venturing around! We didn’t get far enough in to try the water springs but seeing the buildings was stunning!

Bailey H.

Google
Absolutely stunning place for a walk about in the changing leaves. They had a beautiful autumnal display at the entrance to the park to snap a few photos. We stayed at the hotel on the park property and it’s just beautiful. Really has a lot of history in the building. Would love to stay again!

Google
One of our favorites places on Earth! The grounds are so spacious and well groomed! If you are in Saratoga, you really should at the very least drive through the park. Bring a chair .. take a nap under a tree, there is plenty of room. You can bring your dog and let him run free. This park is well known for its mineral baths, so if you are inclined to enjoy a bath in evervescent water (by appointment only), this is the place!

Google
If you are looking for a place to relax, breath pure air? This is the place. If you love taking long walks? This is the place, and where you don't even need to carry a bottle of water because you will find a spring where to drink pure, fresh and alkaline water ✨️ 👌🏼 Saratoga is a beautiful in many ways, is a place that gives you peace and tranquility. I will be back.✨️♥️

Google
Loved this state park, woods and a stream to explore. Many different natural springs and mineral waters to taste, history to learn about. Very interesting and I'd love to come back and picnic near the stream and explore more.

Google
I was truly amazed by the size of Saratoga Spa State Park! It has huge, beautiful buildings, a great pool, golf courses, and a gorgeous forest perfect for walks. I definitely want to come back!

Google
A stunning park to visit. Lots of things to see. It has a lot of local history. It was interesting to learn about the mineral springs.

Yelp
This is a huge park! We only could walk around a few area of the whole park. We got to try a few fresh spring water which interestingly taste uniquely different from each other. The walking trails are wonderful and full with lots of green big trees. The highlight is to walk along the water. We also walks pass some buildings with the spa and restaurant.

Yelp
This park is beautiful but is full of lazy patronage jobs. Even after spending a lot of money to construct new parking areas, and charging stations..Our state employees are to lazy to use it. A State Park built on health, and waters, and exercise mean nothing to the employees and Rangers who work there. They park as close to the offices where they work or park on THE GRASS..to limit the walking! Even though the park is littered with "NO PARKING ON THE GRASS " signs? Outside the main office building the rangers of all people are to lazy to walk..so they park their ATVS under an old PIN OAK tree,,that shows stress from Soil Compaction...Can't we find a proper place to park these ATV'S ?....

Yelp
I went to the mineral Springs bath, Roosevelt, my skin feels better than it has in 20 years!

Yelp
Course was very good everyone was very nice and knowledgeable I can't wait to come back it's been a good summer in Saratoga time to go south soon

Yelp
If you love history paired with nature, this is a great place to visit! There's so much to do in the park and a lot of rich history to learn. If you run into a true Saratogian who grew up here, they will likely be able to tell you all about the features found in the park. If you're interested in staying directly in the park, the Gideon Putnam Resort and Spa is inside of the park to stay at! You can get a fantastic meal at the restaurant, enjoy the Victorian pool or even get spa treatments at the Roosevelt Baths. The golf course is also a great course at a reasonable price. The state park is also the home of a small production play theatre (directly behind SPAC). There is a famous amphitheater that you can always catch Dave Matthews at in the summer (Saratoga performing arts Center). If you're interested in natural healings, there are multiple springs (including one that tastes like normal water) that residents and visitors alike bring jugs to get fresh water at. The walking trails are wonderful and in some areas, there are mini waterfalls as well. In the winter, this park is great for cross country skiing. If you enter into the park and pay the entry fee, you can go to the Peerless pool which is gigantic! Quite a few pavilions you can also rent for reunions or large parties. One thing is for sure, there's usually somewhere for every type of person.

Yelp
A beautiful and humongous state park. Worth visiting. A day is not enough to experience it's entirety. We came here today with expectations and did not disappoint. We started our day trip doing the nature trail. We followed the geyser trail. We were able to see all the natural springs along the red trail. It is for real that locals are getting these natural water to drink. Tourists like us was enjoying this different experience. There are two state seal spring locations where the water tastes like the regular tap water of NYC. There are some spring spouts that what comes out are the mineral water kind. Sadly I did not like the taste , too strong and salty for me. Hearing from the locals that it is really good for digestive issues. We enjoyed the walking/ nature trail. Short and easy. After the geyser trail, we were able to walk around the rest of the park and see the following : the closed performing center, the year round season automobile museum and hall springs, the Roosevelt spa ( separate review for the spa experience) , the adoring Gideon Putnam hotel, the closed Roosevelt pool and its huge golf courses. Pool is open after memorial weekend till Labor Day weekend and there is a charge for admission. The park has ample parking for each establishments. As it is still closed for the season, we had the parking admission for free otherwise $10 charge per vehicle. The state park has manicured lawn, beautiful tree lines and easy to follow signs going to right destination. I would come back if given another opportunity to visit the town.

Yelp
We came on a Sunday and to our surprise admission to the park was free, I believe usually it is $10 for a car. You can park anywhere inside the park and jump in on one of the trails. They also have the spa, tennis courts, golf course and I believe a swimming area and other amenities. We were just passing through Saratoga and decided to stop to try some of the springs. I wish they had more maps available because it was a bit difficult to figure out where we were in relation to the springs but after spending sometime on my phone searching we were able to figure it out. We didn't have a lot of time to walk the full walking trail to try all the springs, but we parked in parking lot "E" and were able to try 6 different mineral springs as they were all in similar locations, we did 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 10. On my phone I pulled up a little snit bit of each of the springs and what they taste like. Make sure you bring your cup to taste try all the different mineral springs such a fun experience to share!

Yelp
Such a beautiful spacious park. We have been here for a comedy show, to walk our dogs and to visit the Roosevelt Baths and Spa. This place is soooo clean. Lots of different trails or just walk the main streets watching people playing tennis or golfing. The entrances are meticulously landscaped. A must see when in Saratoga!
google avatar

Vicky B.

Yelp
Definitely a must see while in Saratoga Springs! Bring a cup with you so you can try the different springs throughout the park. Since they each have a different mineral content, they all taste unique. Alternatively, if you stop at the visitor center in downtown Saratoga before the park, you can get the brochure and cup there. There are also trails to walk throughout the park, a playground, and plenty of green space to picnic. The last time I went to the park, they did not charge admission, but today they did - $10/car. Well worth it!

Yelp
This is one of my favorite local state parks. There is so much to do I typically come here at least once a week to run I'll walk. In the summertime I'll do the trails up in the hills of the park. The trails going up the hills are excellent leg work. There are also two museums in this park Saratoga Auto Museum and a National museum of Dance. On the weekends they have the farmers market in the front of the park on Broadway. The park also had a number of Mineral Springs or you can get water from at no cost. There's also a hotel Gideon Putnam Resort and Spa in the park as well as a golf course and there's is a venue Saratoga performing arts Center where concerts and performances are held. There is is also Hall of Springs an event center where are you can have parties and other large scale events.
google avatar

Mel H.

Yelp
Go! Check out the spouters (they're not geysers), sample the different spring waters, and take in the gorgeous scenery. We were there on a bitterly cold January day. The park rangers had a fire pit going down by the Geyser Trail (but remember, those shooting water spouts are not really geysers) with marshmallows to roast. We were caught in a brief snow squall that left an inch or so of snow on the ground and transformed the woods into a gorgeous winter wonderland - it was awesome! If you bring your own containers you can fill them with your choice of spring waters. Can't wait to return!
google avatar

Melissa W.

Yelp
Incredible state park - encompasses many activities and you can easily spend the entire day here (if not more). Highly recommend walking/hiking to check out the various natural mineral springs (warning: the water does not taste good) which were cool to see. We played at the par3 golf course which takes 1hr 20 min, and the greens are trickier than you expect. There's also a full sized golf course, the performing arts center, auto museum, a spa, and more! You're bound to find something that interests you. We've even been to a wedding at the Hall of Springs! We'll certainly be back :)
google avatar

Tony C.

Yelp
This park is huge!!! Golf course, nature trails, bike paths and natural springs. Could spend days here. Next time I come back bringing the bike. Tasted the water, was meh.
google avatar

Nischinth S.

Yelp
After a stroll through downtown Saratoga we decided for a brief stop at the park. They have a farmers market between 10 am to 2pm every Sunday, year round. The time I stopped by, they were wrapping up with most of the vendors already gone. The market is a partnership between the Office of Parks, Recreation & Historic Preservation and over 50 vendors that are family owned local small businesses. The vendors also organises Workshops & Classes at the Market on Sunday, please check their website for additional details.

Yelp
Best place to hike with your best friend! It's Buddy's favorite place on earth! We hope to see you there.

Yelp
Beautiful State Park Our first visit was enjoyable, but the park is huge and I could easily see getting lost. We had a leisurely day planned so we took our time and just wandered. There are plenty of trails to walk or bike on, nice open spaces, a beautiful picnic area as well. A big feature of the park is the many natural springs that flow. Apparently tasting water from each is a popular thing to do, although I didn't try any. My wife tried a few and she noted that they were naturally carbonated. We very much enjoyed our time at the park and would consider a return trip if in the area. They also host Saratoga Performing Arts Center (SPAC) which is a popular concert venue. It really has it all. Well worth the trip.
google avatar

Christiana D.

Yelp
Lovely, absolutely gorgeous area. The only con we had was that the different hiking trails are very very poorly marked. We got big lost lol. Ended up on the other side of the park, and had to walk the road back to our area so we could find our way back and not get lost again
google avatar

Colleen O.

Yelp
What a beautiful park ! Geysers and fresh springs galore. Several buildings not open on Labor Day to be expected . Map we were given was a bit hard to navigate. The trail along the creek bed was very beautiful and not too challenging . $10 to park on the weekend as well . Would of liked to explore a bit more but it was raining on and off and we needed to get on the road. Definitely worth checking out . Side note- I did not find the water from the springs to taste very pleasant but I heard that they are full of minerals and good for you! I'll stick to the photo taking while sipping on my Dasani water lol.

Yelp
To the best of my knowledge, this issue regarding the reflection pool is not resolved over a year later. I realize there may be complex factors as to why this hasn't been able to be resolved, but I just kindly remind the park coming from someone who grew up loving frogs that this still may be an issue. Thanks!

Yelp
Beautiful park. I came here several times. I think I might have stopped by here every time I visited Saratoga Springs. It is about 10 minutes drive from the downtown Saratoga Springs. Nice park to walk around and enjoy the nature. They have state seal spring water where you get to drink mineral water. They also have the famous Roosevelt Spa here too. Reservation is highly recommended for the use of their spa. They have picnic tables available too.
google avatar

Lenny G.

Yelp
Great place to to be outdoors in nature. This is a well maintenance park and for hikers, the trails are very easy to follow. Don't drink the spring water unless you want to be on the toilet all day.
google avatar

ZhuZhu L.

Yelp
This state park is huge. It has different sections. You can walk or taste different spring water. I made a quick stop to get some fresh and crisp spring water
google avatar

Eric C.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite places in the capital region. It's so chill being able to take a stroll and sample the different water samples. Some are great, others are weird and sulfuric, but that's fine. That's the thrill of it. The park itself is big, with large beautiful trees and ample parking. I shall return.
google avatar

Helen Z.

Yelp
Beautiful well maintained space with walking trails and numerous springs to sample water from or just look at. I have to admit the springs were underwhelming since we didn't know what to expect, but this was still worth a visit. We parked near the entrance and avoided the $10 entrance fee, and it really wasn't too long of a trek to reach the springs after cutting across the woods. I really liked the brick columns you can walk around in a rectangle (sorry don't remember what they're called) near the park entrance. They are photogenic and we saw some people taking wedding photos. We peered into Victoria pool, which also seemed well maintained, though not too many people were brave enough to go in the water during the slightly chilly weather. I regret not wearing more comfortable shoes so we could've dallied around here more when we came.

Yelp
The Grey Matts are new. And having the Grass on U, that only makes Cents! Butt, now stay with me. Chair people have Ruined SPAC. Personally I hate your grey lawn savers, BuTT. Demarcation, is a Fact of War, there needs to be a Front Line. If the Seat remain, Behind The Line. I'd bet Everything! Every penny in that Moment in time allowed. I'd be able to move without injury or obstruction. All I want in a venue, somewhere to be me. And People, "I wanna dance!"...
google avatar

Arlene M.

Yelp
The park is beautiful, we had a BBQ and love it! Then we went to the minerals spa! 40 minutes in your bathtub with hot mineral water... so relaxing! AMAZING
google avatar

Marie M.

Yelp
Beautiful trails for walking, biking. Streets also are wide enough for pedestrians and bikes. Geyer area was worth the trip. Various mineral springs to taste and nice walking trail along Geyser Creek. Locals flock here for the State Seal Spring- taste like NYC water to me only other rival that comes close is the High Rock Spring in High Rock Park. 4 stars as bathrooms were closed and construction was being done which made navigating to the spring area a bit confusing on foot.
google avatar

Jessica W.

Yelp
This place was amazing. So beautiful and peaceful. What a great walkable park. The kids loved it. It was serene and lots to see. We tried the water from each spring. I would recommend for families!
google avatar

Jen E.

Yelp
This was a great adventure. We took the main trail, which took us around the park, it was nice because it was a hot day, but it was shaded. We couldn't find the educational center at first, but we ran into a local with her dog. She got us to the education center where we entered the tour late. The tour guide was great and welcomed us. It allowed us to try a couple of the natural springs and we learned a bit about the springs. Definitely a fun group of people to enjoy the park with and to learn a little bit more about the park. It was really fun to try the different springs. What a beautiful park and some beautiful stops along the way, we also stopped in the spa and tried a few beauty products. We were treated well, even though we were not buying services. I definitely recommend this park if your have enough time to enjoy.
google avatar

Yelp
I love this place and want to go back again ! So much fun and walking , tried all the mineral water i

Yelp
We went to Saratoga Spa State Park for the second time this summer, having gone last summer as well. Right off the bat, I love how large and well-maintained the park is. There is quite a bit of park to roam, and we specifically visited the various springs. Last year we also went swimming at the pool. The Victoria Pool is absolutely beautiful, flanked by a scenic building. My kids are swimmers, and the pool had enough room and depth to really enjoy. Bonus, there is food available or you can bring your own. We went in September and lucked out getting in - but I have heard many stories of long lines to get into the pool on a good summer day, so be prepared for that. The springs are pretty neat, considering all the history behind them. Our kids had a lot of fun sampling the tasting springs. Even the second time we returned, I forgot quite how awful the tasting springs can be. No worries though, because there are two places you can get all the fresh water you would like to drink (and to wash away the taste of the tasting springs!). There is also a large "tufa", which is often referred to as a geyser, although it is not a geyser. There is a natural spout of water there, and it is neat to see how it has built up minerals over the years. Overall, a nice and relaxing place to visit and explore. We also wandered around the open fields, enjoying the scenery, buildings, and statues, before heading over to check out other parts of Saratoga. Entry for our car was $8.
google avatar

Ruth G.

Yelp
A really beautiful state park that has a variety of trails that lead to small hot springs. Although we came in the freezing weather, we still ventured to geyser spring. It's located right across Roosevelt spa and bath about 1/2 mile down. Follow the orange trail markers down to where you will see a gazebo and benches. There are also a variety of purposely flooded areas so that ice skating can occur. A beautiful complex for venues and a place to hang out in warmer conditions. We stayed at the Gideon putnum which was fancy but a little pricey. We also tried the mineral baths which was a nice one time type of experience. We will definitely return to this beautiful place.
google avatar

Anne R.

Yelp
A State Park with a Spa? What is this unicorn? We came for the springs and were delighted to find that there are regular docent-led tours several times a day on both the natural wonders behind the springs as well as the history of the springs. We only went on the natural spring tour- but it was a perfect introduction that helped us better understand and appreciate what we were finding around the park. For example- I'd never known there was a name (tufa) for the mineral deposits, and I don't think I'd ever seen any of them grow so large outside as they have here in the park. It truly is a New York State gem of a park that is so easily overshadowed and under promoted compared to the fame of the Saratoga Race Track.
google avatar

RICHARD P.

Yelp
Greatest spa ever!!! Nothing fantsy but wow the mineral bath for 40 minutes is amazing. I think I want to come here at least once a year. Its very relaxing and not expensive.
google avatar

Igor B.

Yelp
Amazing place one of the best parks I have ever been to. The springs are amazing and fall colors are gorgeous. Very clean, lots of places for a picknic and BBQ. Lots of places to park highly recommended

Yelp
Saratoga Spa State Park is a gorgeous wooded area inside the city limits of Saratoga Springs, NY known for its mineral springs, bath houses, and performing arts venues, including the Saratoga Performing Arts Center. The park is also home to the Saratoga Automobile Museum, the National Museum of Dance, the Roosevelt Baths and Spa, and the Gideon Putnam Resort & Spa. The park originally drew interest from the Mohawk and Iroquois Native American tribes for its rich hunting grounds and mineral springs. In the nineteenth century, the area became much visited for the purported medicinal effects of the water from the mineral springs. Entrepreneurs dug wells and bottled the mineral water for sale, and gas companies sold the carbonation to soda fountains. The Saratoga Springs area also has the only active spouting geysers to be found east of the Mississippi River. The carbonated water which vents in the springs and geysers is rich in minerals and salts. That being said, get ready for the strong sulfur smells as you walk along the trails through the woods. The park hosts numerous theater and other events. The Saratoga Performing Arts Center (SPAC), located on the state park grounds, has been the summer home of the Philadelphia Orchestra and New York City Ballet since 1966. Jazz and dance are featured at SPAC, along with popular concerts in the outdoor amphitheater. Concerts are available during the warmer months, and the nearby Little Theater offers stage plays throughout the year. Also found inside the park is the Hall of Springs, which is an historic, world renowned banquet venue that seats up to 500 people for weddings and corporate events. The Hall of Springs is truly a spectacular building, with amazing photo opportunities to be found reflecting off the pond in front of the building. Spa Park has a variety of recreational opportunities including hiking and bicycling trails, several swimming pools, tennis courts, two golf courses, picnic areas, horseshoe pits, softball fields, and volleyball courts. It's a great place to take a long walk through the trees and enjoy nature. If you happen to be there during the winter months, then Spa Park is the perfect place to go cross-country skiing along those same trails. Oh, and finally, take some empty milk jugs, and fill them up with the free spring water under the gazebo at the water fill station, located across from the Automobile Museum. If nothing else, stop for a drink of the cool water as you pass by the Bruno Pavilion.
google avatar

Pn K.

Yelp
Suprised there arent enough reviews here . There are beautiful trails in there and a couple geysers near the parking lot . We just had about an hour and half to explore . We did see plenty of picnic tables and pavilions for locals to picnic in the woods .
google avatar

Barbie S.

Yelp
This is a beautiful place to visit. PROS: Bike trails Hiking trails Shaded trails (bike & walking) Outdoor concerts Free spring water (just bring your containers) Very large spacious grassy areas A creek runs through the park CONS: The line for the free spring water sometimes

Daniel C.

Yelp
Well if you have an event calendar on your website, you should update it. Everyone knows it's racing season and tee times are at a premium, but if the course is closed a particular day do to large groups, please let the public know. We could be booking our 4some somewhere else. Thank you
google avatar

Steve W.

Yelp
One of my favorite places to photograph. I've done wedding photos here, senior portraits, and many family photos here. Beautiful all year round! I will continue returning and recommending the Park for some of the best backdrops for photos.
google avatar

Jennifer H.

Yelp
If you google the healthiest places to live in the USA you will most definitely find Saratoga Springs NY. What a wonderful little town. The state park here is perfect. Great hikes beautiful views tons of natural water fountains all over the park and town. The Roosevelt Baths are phenomenal! (Check separate review) great place with lots of history and things to do.
google avatar

Maria T.

Yelp
Beautiful place to walk, especially in the summer and fall. Plenty of paths to take and things to see too! One of my favorite places to walk when there's no concerts happening at SPAC. There are plenty of picnic tables too if you wanna do a picnic or would like to bring food when you go.
google avatar

Don B.

Yelp
We were there on a Sunday and brunch at the Gideon Putnam and after brunch we walked thru the park. There are lots of trails to wander down and plenty of people riding bikes or walking their dogs. We also went by the baths where President Roosevelt use to visit but they were closed. The Park is beautifully maintained, safe and a great place to take a leisurely walk.
google avatar

Mike A.

Yelp
Simply the best dog park around plenty of room for your little guy to roam free. Found this place last year and decided to bring him back he loves it here.
google avatar

Sara L.

Yelp
This place is awesome! It was so beautiful and interesting. We happened to be there the day of the fish stocking, it was so fun to watch all of the children with there buckets and fish. The history is amazing.
google avatar

M. M.

Yelp
This is a beautiful park, I did not get to see some of the views that the other people have posted here but the hotel I stayed at was very close by so this was a great spot to walk to just to relax, At the time that I went here there was a concert playing at night that was gated off from the park but you can still hear the music and it was great! If I was to go back I would do some research as to what there is to see around this area to get the most out of it. I would not on the other hand recommend the Roosevelt Spa that is located right in the park.
google avatar

C R.

Yelp
The tour of the springs was great! It was very educational and fun. We tasted all of the spring waters. The tour definitely progressed from tasting best to worst! Lol! But they were all good to at least try! It's a lovely way to spend part of the afternoon.
google avatar

Nick P.

Yelp
I can't believe Karen Y beat me to this. Her review is quite thorough and I've got just a few things to add. If you are going to SPAC for a concert, you can pay a few bucks to park in the park and drink beer without fear, play Frisbee and it's an easy walk to the entrance and very quick to leave. If there is a concert at SPAC and you are feeling the bitter poison of a down economy you can bring a blanket and your favorite girl to sit outside near the reflecting pool. A bottle of wine, candle and a blanket make it a very nice free evening. You can walk or ride into the park, but there is a car fee to enter. The formal park has more picnic areas but there is plenty to do in the free area. There are several ground water fountains (9 I think) and there is a waterfall for viewing and hanging out at if you follow the stream under the bridge. If the water is flowing after a rain it's hard to hear, but if it's low it's a great place to hang. The tennis courts appear open to anybody, and there are lots of large open spaces for lawn enjoyment. There are two pools for swimming. One is geared to families and has a slide, the other is for the jet set city crowd and women are expected to have their hair done and high heels for drinking daiquiris. It can get crowded and has a very short season. So if you are planning a day at the cabana near the pool go early. (this will get it's own review) There is a golf course and the Roosevelt baths on premises. I've been to the baths many times and find them pleasant.

Yelp
Stars awarded as a way to support the existence of state parks... otherwise rather busy for its size. Got yelled at (in the nicest way) for playing in the 'natural spring' probably because it's so dangerous... yeah. Get back to your rent a cop booth.
