Loved the atmosphere. Off the beaten path. Very good service .Authentic Portuguese cuisine.

Rude waitress, telling me very rude way for me to stand up from my seat ,for her to serve another table, while I'm having my lunch. And come back again and grabbed the wine bottle from my hand without asking my permission/excuse,while I'm taking picture of the bottle (since I find the wine bottle is kinda interesting with a little arts on it). After all she ruined our lunch (we were super excited to having a great time with our family).

The place is nicely located in a side lane from the main street. It would be amazing if the vity could close the road for cars which would make the location even more perfect. The staff was very friendly, eventhough the language was a bit of a barrier. However, I got the food that I ordered and the grilled Octopus was really lovely. There could have been a bit lor vegetables on the side. Also it was ready very fast giving the impression that I might not be prepared fresh. But as the taste was great I am not sure about that. I would come back to the place :)

The only “positive” was the fast service. Feels just like America. Food was below average for above average price. Feels like a school cafeteria. Beautiful (unlucky) view from my table. Second picture is from the amazing looking side that came with my fish (sarcasm - its was basic steamed potatoes and veggies) Only come here if all the other restaurants in the street are full or if you are looking for a family with kids experience.

Great place to eat, the food is very delicious. Loud during rush hours, and I suggest makinf reservations. Fav dish? Massada de Tamboril!

They ended up not charging me for it, but it was terrible to wait so long for such a plate. It’s a shame because my boyfriend loved the octopus…

The hostess who takes your name for the table will ruin your experience. The food is overrated compared to the neighbouring restaurants. It’s clear this place is all about marketing and drawing people in, only to disappoint. Bad service is sometimes excusable but the hostess is inhumane working like a robot. While waiting for our table I witnessed her rushing a table out and telling an elderly woman she just had to wait (rudely) when asking how long it would be for a table. My mother tried to ask her a question 3 times and she brushed her off even when she tapped her arm she briskly walked away like she couldn’t be bothered. It set the tone for a terrible experience and the food isn’t good enough to make up for that kind of service. After reading a few other reviews mentioning her I wasn’t surprised in the least. Apparently she’s the owners daughter which is such a shame because they would be better off not employing her as the first person you interact with. We won’t be back as long as she’s standing out there. Mira Mar and Onda Azul are steps away and there service was attentive and friendly. Don’t under estimate the power of good service.

There was a little wait for lunch but for a good reason. We were taken care of quickly. The service was excellent, but let me tell you about the food: sopa de legumes and sopa de peixe were creamy and delicious. Then we had polvo a lagareiro, bacalhau com natas, grelhada mixta de peixe and robalo na telha - all were excellent. The restaurant is located in an alley, so somewhat hard to find, but there are signs. If you came by car, leave it in the parking lot in front of the museum of resistance and liberty and walk there.

Yelp
Came here for a late lunch since it had good ratings and was open till 4pm. Easy to find - follow the signs. Even at 2.30pm the restaurant was very busy with locals and tourists. The waiters spoke excellent English and immediately put a set of 'taster' hors d'euvres and menu in front of me. The menu had a wide selection of options - in portugese. After some 15 minutes I waved a waiter down to take my order which was Octopus Al Sardinha but I asked for no mashed potato, just more vegetables instead and a bottle of rose wine. I nibbled on a few olives and within 10 minutes I received my dish - surprising as the reviews said the service was slow! It was a whole octopus grilled on a small bed of vegetables and mio - they hadn't added any more veg., just removed the mashed potato! It tasted very good and was not too chewy, so quite fresh. The wine also was very good. The bill for one main course and a bottle of wine was around €46, which also included nearly €2 for 6 olives, so is quite expensive, since they charge for bread and any 'additions'. Overall a pleasant and very good experience, but not cheap.

Yelp
Been here several times and plan to return. Why this gets a 2.5 is beyond me, feels like sabotage. I live nearby and can attest that this place deserves at least a 4.5. Tonight had the bacalau com liguerios and pannacotta for dessert. My companion had pasta with shrimp and clams, caramel mousse for dessert. A bottle of red wine from Setubal with the meal. All excellent. The food is always wonderful and the staff is knowledgeable about the wines.

Yelp
I like it a lot! We went to have the Sardinhas and it was delicious and well cooked (with only salt on the grill but it is just the way I love). Simple but good. The starter bread was good too, hot and crunchy. The sallon is really noisy and crowded, and the dishes took like half an hour to arrive. This was a bad side. But service was nice and I liked the overall experience.

Yelp
What a disappointment!! Second and last time for sure!! This is a fish place however upon ordering a Cataplana de Marisco for 2 people it was absolutely pathetic the amount and quality of fish that it contained. One mini lobster, 6 large shrimp, lots of toasted soggy bread, soggy fries, and about 6 to 8 mussels. It was served on a yellow sauce that let very little to desire. The quality of the fish for the price that was charged its really considered a complete ripoff. Be aware not worthy!!

Yelp
The food was delicious! We shared a fish stew, MEANT for 2 people... BUT it was WAY too much. One warning, if they put something, like a platter of different appetizers... MAKE SURE THEY ASK YOU IF YOU WANT IT!!!! If you eat it, you're gonna pay for it!! We learned the hard way... It was brought to us, thinking it was complimentary, we ate from it. Then prior to paying... We questioned our waiter about an unfamiliar charge ...Keep in mind that he wasn't the one who brought it to us... .But told us we were asked if we wanted it. We informed him that we did not order this. He said his coworker must have asked us... (he didn't) Then he replied, "You ate it, didn't you?" To save an argument (cuz we were bothered by the fact that neither of us were asked. Our waiter was gracious enough to squash that part of the bill. Placing appetizers in front of hungry customers is a common practice in Peniche... I dont think this is a good idea... and it's somewhat unsanitary... I wouldn't want to eat something that was placed in front of someone else.. I mean, what if they touched it, tasted it or even sneezed in it. Not a good practice. Other than that, we had a nice dinner. Would I come back... ? Probably not.

Yelp
We actually ended up here twice during our stay in Peniche mostly because it is open till late and we were in for a late dinner. The restaurant is really crowded, there are al lot for tables, lots of nice waiters, generally speaking food is ok, but nothing that picked my fancy. I found the restaurant very touristic, and that probably spoiled it a little, but either than that we cannot say that we have had a bad meal. Avoid sangria, is terrible!

Yelp
My wife and I both had grilled fish which was delicious. Kids ordered, burger and steak and did not care for it. Fried egg on top put them off a bit but steak was under cooked and rather fatty. Staff was very friendly and attentive. Nice atmosphere sitting outside.

Yelp
it's a tourist trap: rather noisy and smells like old fish in there. the service was okay but our fish had been dry and overcooked. i have had much better dinner in more comfortable places for less money.
