"Sarinbuana is so far off the beaten track, there is a good chance your driver will get lost on the way. And the further you wind into the lush green hills and the island's largest rainforest, the closer you get to unspoilt Bali away from the touristy bustle. Up here on the slopes of Mount Batukaru, Antipodeans Linda and Norm have created a tiny self-sustaining eco retreat that runs in harmony with the local village and its people. The lodge offers a choice of four bungalows, surrounded by an abundance of flora - but if it's peace and quiet you seek, you're in for a shock. Yes, it's calm and tranquil, but the natural orchestra of the protected rainforest is a veritable cacophony of birds, butterflies and bugs. Two bungalows are suitable for families, two for couples. They are simple and cosy, each filled with traditionally crafted touches - think hand-carved window frames and traditional Balinese wall hangings. Fresh organic food is served in the central restaurant and there's all manner of activities, from a leisurely garden walk to a rainforest trek or volcano climb. We had the most incredible stay at Sarinbuana! As a family who values nature and ethical business practices, we were truly blown away by the attention to detail here. The respect for the land, the quality of food, the local community… not only does supporting a business like this keep Bali nature alive, but it truly helps the ecosystem and community thrive! Spreading awareness to local villages on how to have sustainable practices that not only attract tourists but also keep this beautiful island from becoming a concrete jungle of fancy villas built with poor practices. The food was incredible, they were so welcoming of our 5 year old daughter, natural pool is amazing… cannot say enough good things about this place 🥹

I have mixed feelings about our stay at Senanga Cabin. We've been to this area a few times before and always had a great time, so was looking forward to our stay. There's no doubt that the location and surrounding is special, and we can't fault the staff who were very helpful; but little things throughout our stay eventually left us feeling a bit let down. The cabin itself is in dire need of repairs and deep cleaning. It's impossible to open the main kitchen folding doors cause various hardware was missing or jammed; and some doors/windows that do open cannot stay open cause there's no window stay. Accumulating dust in various nook and cranny, crusty window sills and smudged glass.. it didn't seem like the cabin's been thoroughly cleaned in a long time. The quality of finishes and materials felt cheap and doesn't reflect their pricing. Going back to doors and windows, not only are most of the hardware broken/missing, they're also poorly constructed so there's gaps everywhere, allowing all sorts of bugs and wasps into the cabin. Kitchen faucet sprays horizontally if you turn it on too fast, the lack of a proper bathroom vanity sink area to wash your face and brush your teeth comfortably, bamboo blinds in the bedroom that's finicky to operate, lack of amenities like soap that's been diluted to oblivion it's basically water.. and probably the most questionable thing we've encountered: a Terra water dispenser but when we wanted to refill it we found out the filter unit isn't there?? These are all aspects that usually don't bother us much at a lower priced guesthouse, but for a nightly rate of 3 million IDR (during the Christmas period) we had higher expectations that was not met. Even at a discounted rate, which is what we paid for, we still left severely underwhelmed. At the end of the day, we couldn't agree more with the disclaimer that they've put in the first page of their guest guidebook - "We are not a 5-star resort".

Sarinbuana Eco Lodge is such a special place. You can really feel the love and care that has gone into creating it – not only for the comfort of guests, but also for the local community, the environment, and the beautiful nature all around. The lodge blends perfectly with its surroundings, and waking up to the sounds of the rainforest was just magical. The staff are some of the friendliest people we’ve met – always kind, helpful, and welcoming – and the food was absolutely delicious every single day. It’s the kind of place where you instantly feel at ease and where it’s easy to slow down, relax, and just enjoy being there. My wife and I stayed for almost a week, and it honestly couldn’t have been a better start to our time in Indonesia. We left feeling rested, inspired, and really grateful for the experience. If you’re looking for a peaceful and unique place to stay in Bali, I can’t recommend it enough.

Our 3-night package stay here was a lovely, relaxing experience. It was great to spend several days in nature, away from the crush of humanity in Bali's cities to the south. Our favorite time here was just sitting on our balcony/deck enjoying the cooling breeze in the late afternoon. All of the staff were exceptionally kind, helpful, and friendly, including the birding guide and nature guide. They're just an excellent team and we really appreciated them. The food surprised us a little in the best possible way - I guess we'd been wondering how much we'd like it, since it's different from how we typically eat, and we ended up loving it! So tasty and fresh.

We have just returned home after spending the last 4 nights of our time in Indonesia at Sarinbuana. What a beautiful place to end our travels! We loved the Jungle House, watching early morning sunrises from the balcony, listening to all the creatures wake up, followed by warm welcomes from the friendly kitchen staff at breakfast. We were spoiled for choice of activities, however we especially enjoyed the jungle and rice terrace hike, as well as a trip to Yeh Hoo waterfall, which we had all to ourselves! Returning to Sarinbuana after a day out was so relaxing, with use of the pool, the yoga bale, and heavenly massages. We also loved our cooking class! Special thanks to all the staff for being so helpful and kind. The ecolodge is truly a special place - be sure to include it in your trip to Bali!

6/5 stars.. every little detail about this establishment is in harmony with nature and the Balinese culture 🙏 Would love to come back some day and bring a family!! And the pool… OMG and the waterfalls And the treks And the food I would recommend this place to anyone who wants a Bali experience outside of the touristy areas and who has a heart for ecotourism

I recently had my 5th stay at Sarinbuana. I stayed for 9 nights and loved every minute. The location is truly spectacular and so special. The staff are all lovely. The food is amazing, freshly picked vegetables and fruit from their gardens and cooked into delicious meals. I had multiple massages which were excellent. I felt like I’d had a complete nervous system reset that I didn’t even realise I needed. I highly recommend to anyone who wants to connect with nature, get away from the hustle, bustle and noise of the south and enjoy amazing food.|I highly recommend choosing the special each night for dinner. I loved the simplicity of choosing tofu or chicken in whatever was available and often getting something that I havent tried elsewhere in Bali.

Not sure what to make of this place. Unfortunately everything is damp, our mosquito nets were damp, the towels smell of damp, everything is overgrown and the bungalows get little or no sun. Maybe it’s time to put some of the bungalows on stilts! I understand the Aussie owners have planted all the trees to revegetate the area, but even the area around the waterfall is completely overgrown so there is no light or sun. And that was the main reason we booked here, to swim in the private waterfall. The food can be excellent, the salads in particular were amazing, the drink menu needs more variety. But we ordered a Bali satay, from the nightly special, and we were charged 150k, and it was small and average. I have never paid that for a mains before, so make sure you ask the prices of the nightly specials, because they don’t write it on the board. Everything is overpriced really, they put money into the local village, which is great and pay the staff well apparently. But unfortunately the staff don’t seem that happy, which is just not like Bali.
