We had a wonderful time at the resort overall. The grounds are absolutely beautiful, with a garden, archery range, volleyball net, lookout point, and a beautiful buildings. We had stellar service throughout our stay, bar is open until midnight and showed the Liverpool match while we played cards! The meals were some of the best we had anywhere in Kenya and were buffet style at each meal we had. The lodging itself felt more along the lines of a 3 star resort, but still definitely nice. Lake Nakuru itself doesn’t have near the wildlife that Samburu or Maasai Mara do, but the scenery is stunning. There is a ton of beautiful flora and you will also likely see giraffes, zebras, and flamingos. There were quite a few kids that were simply given free rein to run around the dining area, and eventually the bar, but maybe that was just our experience there. Keep in mind if you are booking for a more romantic trip!

Lion Lodge: The Cozy, Perfect Spot for a Night at Lake Nakuru We stayed at Lion Lodge during our quick stop at Lake Nakuru, and it was absolutely the perfect accommodation for a single night, which is what we did. Yes, the room itself was basic and a little dated, but honestly, this lodge has been operating since the 80s, so that’s completely understandable. The benefit of that longevity is clear: they know exactly how to run a national park lodge and cater to safari guests. It feels incredibly warm and friendly—a genuinely cozy place to stay right on the edge of the lake. It's perfectly located near the park's entrance and exit, and we felt incredibly safe, thanks to the security and perimeter fences. The food, though, was the biggest surprise. The buffet is incredibly good—far, far better than you might expect for a lodge of this style. The food was genuinely well-cooked, and there was a great variety. The atmosphere is lovely. It's warm, welcoming, and they have a fire pit outside in the evenings where you can sit and enjoy a drink, which was a great touch. You know it’s a good spot when you see that all the local tour guides love staying there, too! Bottom Line: The rooms could definitely use an update, but that's a minor detail. Everything was clean, comfortable, and maintained that authentic lodge feel. We would 100% recommend Lion Lodge for a stay at Lake Nakuru.

Love the lodge for its setting and friendly vibe. . Highly recommend staying in rooms 37 through 24 as they have a Lake view and there’s not much hill climbing. Genuine, authentic Safari lodge, ambience. This is a place to go and enjoy the property. It’s not fantastic for big 5 animal sightings. If you want that definitely head to the Mara or Serengeti. I did see a rhino and sleeping lion and some other animals, but they are scarce compared to other regions.. The pink flamingo’s that once were prolific, have unfortunately mostly left due to the rising water. Highly recommended for chilling. Nice fire pit at night.

Great lodge with super friendly and helpful staff. Beautiful grounds with a pool and bird feeding station and lots of places to sit and admire the view of the Lake. We had 3 great game drives albeit due to the increase in the size of the lake there are some raids now closed so you need to double back a bit. Global warming!|The welcome is very warm from the moment you arrive with cold towels and introductions.|Lodges are perfectly comfortable (very thin walls!) but a bit dated eg bathroom /hairdryer etc. All very clean though and all you need. |Food was good albeit again not presented to its best advantage as salad and cold desserts in old cabinets. Other than the breakfast pastries which were without exception the most hard, bland unappetising looking things I have ever seen the food was generally super tasty. Lots of fruit and salad at lunch. Breakfast oddly not so much and king break at breakfast is a sliced commercial loaf when much nicer available at lunch and dinner. Lots of local specialities for all meals. The saxophone player was also wonderful to listen too and nice ambience.

Beautiful property. People are very nice. Rooms are not as good as sarova Mara but very decent. No fans or AC. No phone in rooms. But you WhatsApp your request and someone responds, so there is lag. PS: don’t fall for “solar heated” pool. It’s cold water which may be heated if there is sun.

Beautiful property. Not very luxurious but it has a vintage feel. The food was very tasty and the property is full of greenery. It’s very picturesque and you feel like just sitting and admiring the lake Nakuru. The highlight was the friendly chef of Indian food called Oscar. During lunch, He asked me what was my favourite Indian food, I said butter chicken and naan. For dinner, there was delicious butter chicken and naan waiting for me at the table!!

We arrived at a busy time and were directed to go into lunch before being allocated our rooms. The dining room was very busy and some of the other guests were like a plague of locusts so a lot of the buffet disappeared very quickly. Saying that what food we got was excellent especially the soups. One of our party is garlic allergic and one of the chefs took him under his wing and every meal made him something special! He was well looked after! The second day when one big party in particular had gone the meal times were much better and we had great food. After lunch we waited to get our rooms. We were allocated two reasonably close to reception as we had requested but the slopes up to them were very steep, and slippy coming down after the rain. We managed and the rooms themselves were excellent. Comfortable bed and a good shower and spotlessly clean. All the staff we encountered were really helpful especially the young lady who showed us to a table in the restaurant. Unfortunately I didn't get her name. The sheer number of guests here make it a bit problematic when trying to get to your jeep to go out. There were often queues. However the usual Sarova standards were much apparent and we wouldn't hesitate to stay in another Sarova lodge.

Beautiful place! The staff was well-informed and helpful every step of our trip. We heard lions at night and delighted in the birds each morning. Very close to the park where we viewed wide mouth rhinos, lions, baboons, and too many birds to count! Don’t miss the morning bird feed : ) (the pool is lovely, too!)
