Sarova Lion Hill Game Lodge: Kenya Safari Lodge in Lake Nakuru National Park

This location of the lodge is excellent, within possibly ten minutes of the entrance to the reserve. Hard to say really as there was so much wildlife between the entrance and the lodge, including two black rhinos. The lodge itself looks very impressive up on the hillside, the staff on arriving are extremely helpful and quicker to process you than the other lodges we visited. The quality and choice of the food was very good. The only criticism here was that there were no fruit juices, water, tea or coffee available in the restaurant to serve yourself. Strange? The rooms, can be quite a trek up quite a few steps and uneven path. The room was quite basic, there was no blind on the window in the bathroom, there's no TV, but the most annoying thing is the smoke alarm! Which in an almost pitch black room illuminates the room, every twenty seconds, which was irritating.

Sarova lodge is an amazing choice for Lake Nakuru. Located inside the national reserve, you have some outstanding views of the lake and park. The lodge itself is more resort type than standard small lodge (at least compared to the other places we stayed in safari) which is not bad, just a different style that felt less personal with the staff. Service was good but as there was too many people it wasn’t outstanding. The rooms are nice and clean with power outlets and decent size showers. For athletes, there is a small running track of about 800m with a pretty big elevation but good enough to log some miles while you stay at the lodge, no gym at the property. Food was ok, buffet style. Enjoyed our time here!

We only stayed for the one night. We had no problems. The staff were really friendly and helpful. The food is buffet style with enough choice for everyone and was very good. The only issue was the room even though it was clean it is on the small size and very basic. There was a small walk in shower in the compact bathroom. The location was very good as soon as you left the hotel you were into a game drive

Our stay at Shaba Game Lodge was nothing short of amazing. The chalets were spacious, comfortable, and beautifully decorated to reflect the safari and African theme — a perfect blend of style and authenticity.|The lodge grounds are lush and well-kept, creating a serene environment where you can truly relax in between game drives. The food was consistently delicious, with plenty of variety to enjoy throughout the day.|Evenings at the lodge were a highlight, with entertainment that added a lively and cultural touch to the experience. From start to finish, the customer service was excellent — staff were attentive, welcoming, and always ready to go the extra mile. My only regret is not staying another night! (we were on a tour and this place was planned for one night only).

We really enjoy our short overnight stay at Sarova Lion Hill Game Lodge. Were it not for work, we would have extended our stay. The staff is amazing, Mercy at the front office quickly sorted a hiccup in our booking and the rest of the team is really warm and engaged us during the meals. They even had a saxophonist play lovely music as we had dinner and lunch, and we woke up to a clean vehicle after the dusty drive in the park. The food was also really lovely. We will surely be back with the squad.

Clean and decent size room with hot water shower. No AC. Nighttime temperature was in the high 50’s. They provided hot water bag under blanket which helped but we were still cold. Buffet dinner and breakfast were good and offered many choices. Nice and friendly staffs. The property was fenced therefore no big wild animals on the property. But plenty of them outside the property for game drive.

From the moment we arrived...awesome! Great accomodation, food and atmosphere. Good intro to African Safari living. Appealing as first stay because some are much more rustic. Great buffet dinig.

Sarova Lion Hill Game Lodge is next to the most spectacular lake, teeming with birds and animals. We saw giraffe, hippos, and zebra, amongst others. Birds are very much the theme of the lodge, with a well-attended bird feeder right next to the restaurant.|The buffet food was high quality, with a wide-ranging choice catering for most dietary requirements. Personally, I could have done without the dining entertainment, but that said, sitting outside under cover, it wasn’t too intrusive.|The room was more than adequate—clean and comfortable. The staff were friendly and diligent.
