"Architects clearly had fun designing Saruni Samburu, an eco-lodge tucked away in the private Kalama Conservancy in central Kenya. Set on a giant outcropping of volcanic rock, stone serves as furniture and structure in the six spacious villas—jutting out of walls, punctuating the outdoor decking, and transformed into shower stalls with some clever pipework. Creative decor aside, the family-friendly resort enjoys spectacular views over billowing golden rangelands, a scene best appreciated from one of the two infinity pools on site, or with a gin and tonicin hand from the decked patio area. Just be sure to call it an early night: Guests are assigned their own jeeps and guides for daily safari excursions to spot elephants, giraffes, and endangered Grevy's zebras."

I spent four days at Saruni in May. This was my fourth time to Kenya but my first time to Samburu, and I am so glad I chose this camp! The staff (including the back office who were always prompt and thorough), delicious food, and unique accommodations made this one of my favorite properties I've visited. I saw a lot of new animals, including all of the Samburu Five, but no cats. The other guests did see them, however, on the day I went to Reteti Elephant Sanctuary. What really surprised me was the number of elephants! We had breakfast by the river one morning while the elephants bathed nearby. It is one of my favorite memories!||I highly recommend a visit to Reteti. It takes you away from a day out on safari, but I thought it was so worth the drive to see this special place. I got to pet some young giraffe residents and spend time with the other animals who were rescued by the sanctuary and still come back to visit and hang out with each other. ||One note - May is the rainy season in Samburu, and it was HOT. It was oppressive in the afternoons and I really struggled. Everyone on staff said it gets much hotter in the dry season. The pools were heaven, and the fan in the room was a life saver. If you're from a colder climate, I would consider going in the low season, as I can't imagine it being even hotter than it was.||Many thanks to everyone at Saruni for making my stay so memorable!

The room and entire property is so unique and connected to the land and surrounding nature. The open entrances and large spacious rooms connected to the outdoors in a wonderful way. We felt truly connected to land stretching out in front of us. The accommodations were very luxurious and the outdoor shower and soft and comfortable bedding were fantastic. The food for every meal we had was also outstanding. Starlo or room butler did so much for us to make our stay enjoyable and his services was outstanding. Overall this is an amazingly beautiful place and we will be back to visit Samburu.

We recently stayed at Saruni Samburu Camp to celebrate our daughter’s graduation, and it was an experience beyond anything we could have imagined. From the moment we arrived, the exceptional customer service set the tone for a truly unforgettable stay.||The camp itself is spectacular—perched high atop a mountain with breathtaking panoramic views over the Samburu landscape. Every sunrise and sunset felt like a private show just for us.||Our game drives with Martin were a highlight of the trip. He is incredibly knowledgeable, passionate, and patient, making every drive an adventure filled with remarkable wildlife sightings. The sundowner experience he arranged was absolutely magical—something our family will always treasure.||In the restaurant, Steve took such wonderful care of us. He was attentive and warm, and he made every meal feel special. The food was delicious, and the atmosphere created the perfect balance of comfort and elegance.||Manager Daniel was always present to ensure every detail of our stay was perfect. His genuine care and professionalism made us feel so welcomed and valued.||If you are looking for an extraordinary safari experience with outstanding service, stunning scenery, and a true sense of place, I highly recommend Saruni Samburu. It was the perfect spot to celebrate a milestone in our family’s life, and we are already dreaming of our return.

10/10. I don’t know where to begin, the most special 3 days of our lives. Nicole (manager). So warm, caring and thoughtful. She knows how to run a camp. Very well organized and clean, with an unbelievable team. Have to give thanks to everyone at Saruni samburu, who made our dream safari come true. Specifically, Emmanuel Lepin, our driver/guide. We saw countless elephants and giraffes. We were lucky enough to see a lion, cheetahs, leopards, zebras and so much more. His smile will make your whole day. He is so well educated and knows Kalama and Samburu like the back of his hand. Plus the best eyes to spot game! His laughter is infectious and a pleasure to be around. Also, a big thanks to Usien (waiter/guest services). Took the best care of us and all of our needs. He went out of his way to make us feel comfortable. He had our days and nights planned perfectly. We felt so welcomed by him and Johnson (assistant manager) from the minute we arrived. |We had a surprise breakfast on the river bank and the most romantic dinner in our honeymoon villa. |We had amazing massages and a bush dinner, that we will never forget. Food was so top notch. Healthy, natural, and delicious. The people of samburu are one of a kind. I feel so lucky that I had this experience and so blessed that they shared their culture and knowledge of the land. We’ve Never felt so taken care of and it’s the Best way to start our honeymoon!! I recommend to everyone and pray I get a chance to come back!|It is was new level. What a truly blessed|experience. Thank you!!!
