Awesome small mountain in VT. Decent to access, on the Indy pass. Great old school vibe, decent runs and a good challenge. Want no lines and no frills but a great experience? Go to S6.

Saskadena Six (formerly Suicide Six) at 247 Stage Rd in South Pomfet, VT is a little hidden gem. The drive to it is full of gorgeous farms and views and then the ski area itself, tho very small, is welcoming, and the terrain is challenging! We skied here because it’s part of the Indypass family and it’s on the way to my sister’s home. I’m so glad we stopped! The hubs loved the long, top to bottom beginner trail, which has some curves and turns on the way down. I liked the steeper trails. The parking is easy, though watch out for that slippery ice! They didn’t seem to salt or sand the parking area, so it was pretty sketchy, as was the bridge to go up to the lodge. But just be careful and you’ll be fine. We loved the retro feel of the lodge, and are looking forward to going back for a day this winter, as we head north to other larger areas. We love supporting the smaller independent resorts! No matter your ability, check it out!

Amazing!! This is such a fun little mountain! Huge variety in the terrain given the size - anyone from a beginner to an advanced skier (or boarder) will be able to find something fun and challenging. The uphill routes are beautiful. The glades are fun. The groomed trails are well done, with fresh corduroy in the morning. The lodge is full of character, offers good seating and food, and has an adorable little bar. Everyone working here was friendly and helpful, from the ticket desk worker, to the woman running the little shop (they had some cute apparel and sick stickers, among other things), to bartender, to the ski patrol. Everyone. One lady even recognized me hours later and asked if I had liked the trail she’d recommended (I did). It is super family-friendly )and for those families with kids who are learning to ski independently, there is one lodge so no one can get really lost!) They work with VT Adaptive, they are respectful of the indigenous community, and they are just all-around inclusive. The prices are extremely reasonable compared to many northeast mountains. I truly cannot say enough good things about this incredible local gem. I LOVE S6 💜

Pros: Nice magic carpet. Employees in the rental shop are super kind and helpful. Nice lodge with a mini-museum showing the resort’s history. It is on the Indy pass. Cons: On holiday weekend, only one lift was open, and there was long line as a result. They did not use RFID and instead issue a paper ticket with some metal hook that I’ve never seen, before having been to 10+ resorts in the Northeast. Really stressful if you don’t install it properly and lose it because they can’t deactivate the lost ticket and issue a new one.

Great spot, on the Indy Pass. Family friendly with a great,, enclosed magic carpet. The base lodge was fine, tough lines on holiday weekends for food but seriously it's a ski spot so bring your own food (chili was mediocre). The face run on the front is the cool attraction and the wall of history as this was the first place ever to have a tow rope is cool. We had girl scouts selling cookies outside which made our day! It's a small mountain so check out the trail map and realize there is only 1 summit lift. It is a blast for a family and their ski school folks did wonder with my young kids.

This was a really nice, low-key mountain to visit with a beginning skier. I used to live nearby and drove past here in favor of Killington all the time, but decided to visit with an Indy Pass redemption. I'm glad we came here. There was plenty of easy terrain to keep a beginning skier busy, and there was zero hustle going on. The lodge was easy to use though a little packed with all the ski racers, but the staff made sure that everything ran smoothly. I'd like to visit again!

Still one of the best places to ski near Woodstock!

What a gem! From the parking lot you get a nice vantage of the front of the mountain. First thing I noticed is although the mountain isn't huge, the steady pitch all the way to the base area, looks to make up for it. The groomers from afar looked delectable and generously steep. The cool cat walk approach from the parking lot got me excited to hit the mountain as it drew nearer. As I got closer it was apparent they put together good, man-made snow conditions for what's been a lousy snowfall year. Not icy, with quality grooming everywhere. The main quad seemed to have the uphill capacity to keep the lines to under a minute wait, even when the parking lot was filled with cars. Can't say that about other resorts. The lodge is cute as heck and clean! Gas fire pits outside, with the wind screens, is a nice touch. Friendly staff, clean bathrooms, all the amenities in a small package. 100% recommend to families and to any experienced skiers and riders looking for a relaxed day to stack up some vertical feet. Enjoy!

Yelp
History, class, comity, and fun. Saskadena Six is a wonderful place for a family and everyone else. A skiers' and rider's mountain where old New England still lives. The resort is owned by the venerable Woodstock Inn, a gem of national distinction. And the upscale air is evident in the friendliness and poise of the staff at Saskadena. A huge lodge with historical pictures everywhere, including memorializing the first motorized life transportation in the US, a 900 foot rope tow built in 1934. Formerly named Suicide Six, the resort centers around a modern yet charming lodge with a huge hearth, a bustling cafeteria, and a well stocked bar. The resort is a scant eight minute ride from the beautiful town of Woodstock, where the Rockefeller and Billings legacy is still visible. Parking at Saskadena Six is not an issue, the parking areas are close to the lodge and a ramp takes the visitor to the lodge area. Saskadena Six has been a part of the Indy Pass for a few years now, and it has become a family favorite. Entering the lodge, one can perform ticket purchases inside or outside. Donning boots and equipment is done in benches and chairs in the lodge, with inside cubicles around the walls. The lodge has plate glass windows on its entire slope facing side, providing beautiful views of the ski area. Once ready to hit the slopes, the nearest lift is the fixed quad that takes the visitor to the 1,200 foot summit. The resort has a 650-foot vertical drop, featuring 24 runs on 100 acres.. Besides the quad, Saskadena sports a double lift on the far side of the resort, and a J-bar. The challenging Show Off run is a steep, mogul filled track, while The Face and Crystal are parallel black diamonds. Several other runs feature both natural, groomed and mogul filled. Saskadena Six usually gets 110 inches of yearly snow, augmented by a vigorous snowmaking system. Dining at Saskadena Six is quick and efficient. A roped off area separates the alcohol-served areas from the rest of the lodge. Several local brews are on tap, as well as national selections. Skiing Saskadena is a pleasure. Small but quite pleasant, devoid of the stress of the larger ski areas in New England. Its history and charm are welcome assets in an industry where sterility seems to be popular. Terrain is rated 30% beginner, 40% intermediate and 30% advanced.

Yelp
Great place to shred the pow pow! It's a small mountain but fun to ski for a short day. Great bar and patio. Super friendly staff. A little pricey but cheap compared to wasting your money and time sitting in the lines for parking and lifts at Killington.

Yelp
Suicide Six has always been a family favorite! It is definitely smaller than most ski resorts, but that also means it's more affordable and, I think, more cozy. They do not offer half day tickets (except maybe holidays), but the price is still pretty decent. The ski shop is small but they are accommodating to get you fitted and even find a better fit if needed. The shirts they have i was disappointed with material (scratchy 100% cotton), so i didn't buy any for my parents. The lodge is large and cozy, with everyone keeping to their own things but yet very friendly. There is food for everyone- breakfast, lunch meals, and even snacks like parfaits, candy bars and soup. You are going to be paying a bit more for these things (think movie theatre). I read on the website they have beer but didn't see any at the cafeteria- I asked someone and they said the bar and restaurant right next to the cafeteria line. It was right in front of us yet hidden. There were 4-5 local draft beers, and sit down tables to have a meal. Let's just say the beers aren't cheap, but it comes with the territory. Other than the local elementary schools being there in the afternoon, it's a great place! Even then, the kids were in groups with instructors, and for the most part had manners and didn't get in the way (had one collision with some younger ones but it was all a good laugh). Only thing, if you are used to super well groomed slopes like Killington VT or Breckinridge CO, this is very different. There are no barriers to keep you on the trail so you can EASILY go into the trees or off the side of the mountain- yeah- a bit intimidating. Also at the top you have to look for the tiny signs saying which trail is which way. There are no giant arrows to say which is the Easy Mike (green) or going down the face (black diamond), but it's kind of obvious. Definitely come out for a day (or half) for some relaxed skiing, and enjoy a super chocolatey cup of hot cocoa on the way out as a warmer.

Yelp
Thanks to the Indy Pass I finally gave this place a go. A family of 4 was pleasantly impressed. If you have you kids they will love it. It is clear this small ski area has money to invest. Better snowmaking and grooming than big players. Great lodge with decent prices on everything from food to gear. Outside deck rivals swanky resorts believe it or not. Great selection of drafts and friendly staff. We will go back

Yelp
I cannot say how impressed I've been with the level of quality of Snow School instructors at Suicide Six. You will NOT be disappointed. My daughter's instructor Garett was encouraging, enthusiastic, knowledgeable, friendly, professional and instilled in her a genuine love of snowboarding. He was really fun, they laughed a ton, went at just the right speed for her confidence levels in one season helping her go from her first time on the beginner hill to her first black diamond. Absolutely the best investment of time and money I have spent. Garett, if you're reading this, thank you for helping my daughter feel confident enough in herself to conquer a mountain.
