What a beautiful little gem in midst Savannahs Squares. Every bag can be customized and shipped (even overseas). The staff was very attentive and helpful. I love that there's even customized rifle carrying bags available. I loved the quality of their products. The leather is buttery soft and of beautiful quality. The alligator is embossed (but you're able to bring your own type of leather depending on your taste ) I couldn't get a hold of my husband to help me choose what he'd love , but I'll be looking on their abundant homepage

I was visiting Savannah and came across this store, and I’m so glad I did. I’ve been looking for a crossbody bag that would be good for travel, but I wanted a zipper pocket that would hold my epi-pens. I was taking with my friend, and the clerk said they could custom make one to fit. They asked if I had my epi-pens with me, and they took measurements for the order card. The staff was so helpful and patient when it came to picking out the custom leather, fabric, and hardware. And they made a strap that wasn’t adjustable per my request despite the original version of the bag having an adjustable strap. They measured me to make sure it would be a length I was comfortable with, and then I went on my merry way knowing it was going to take a while for the bag to be made and shipped. It arrived today, earlier than I expected, and it’s even more beautiful than I imagined. The leather is supple, the placement of the pattern on the fabric inside was clearly intentional, and the craftsmanship is better than any bag I’ve ever had. As a sewist I can appreciate the details that go in to making a custom piece, and literally every single detail is perfection. I’ve been working on investing in pieces I will use for years rather than having a bunch of mass produced items, and I will 100% be upgrading to a matching wallet. This will not only become the travel bag I wanted, but it will be my every day purse. I cannot speak highly enough about it. The entire experience from shopping to receiving the product was a complete pleasure. 100% recommend giving Satchel your business. You will not be disappointed.

Such an amazing place! They have beautiful bags and all sorts of leather items that you need to see. Made by locals and owned by a local. Awesome customer service as well! We had a very well-worn bag that we broke, and they repaired it very quickly, cleaned and conditioned the leather, and didn’t charge a penny for it! We have been coming to Satchel for several years, every time we visit Savannah, and we will definitely continue to do so. Thank you, Greg! You help make a great store even better.

This store is a handbag lover's dream! We received top-notch customer service from Greg when we stopped in on Sunday afternoon. I purchased a beautiful bag and intend to purchase more in the future via their website since I live out of town.

I just bought the most amazing bag today with the help of Greg. I love that they are custom made. Greg was so helpful and told me a beautiful backstory of one of their ‘signature’ bags. I was lucky to find one that was a smaller version. I like to support local artisans when I travel. They even extended a reduced price for one of the items from a St. Patrick's Day sale. The shop smells like leather and you can see where their bags are handmade. It’s a gem. Make sure you visit when in Savannah!

I visited Satchel about 2 months ago when vacationing in Savannah. I ended up buying a custom-made bag. My new bag arrived last week, shipped like a gift. The bag is beautifully made to the specifications that I requested. The leather is soft with durable but pretty hardware. Very excited to wear the bag!

Love, love, love Satchel! This is a locally women owned business. Satchel is a leather and handmade handbag company. They are located on Liberty Street. They are across the street from the DeSoto. There is street parking available. But depending on the time of day you will need to pay for it. Satchel has a lovely storefront. They keep many of their products in their windows to entice you inside. And yes, it does work lol. When you walk into the store the aroma of leather hits your senses. The store has a variety of beautiful leather products. Yes they have bags, but they make so many other products out of leather like: coasters, wine bags, folios, passport holders etc. I love their wrist cuffs! They are reversible. And also come in a variety of colors. They also do custom work! Yes, can have your own custom creation made. But keep in mind everything is handmade. And quality work takes time. So it will take multiple weeks for your leather good to be made. But like all good things, it is worth the wait. I love that their bags are named after people who are special to them! It just continues to make the business personalized and special. Everyone who I have spoken to on the phone, via social media, or in person in store have always been so incredibly kind. And genuinely seem to love their job. This makes your shopping experience so much easier and happier too. Go to Satchel! You can find gifts for men or for women at all price ranges!

So excited to check this store out in person. You walk in and the smell of leather is amazing. Great customer service, I was able to check and see if all of my purse goodies would fit or not. Fantastic customer service and I adore my new purse, definitely a lifetime customer.

This was an unexpected surprise in Savannah. I was on a quest for an American-made wallet (men's) and came upon this place via a Google Maps search. I'll admit that there isn't much of a selection when it comes to men's goods but the wallets they did have worked out perfectly and it certainly qualified as being American made -- heck, it was made about 10 feet behind the counter. They have a conventional bifold plus a billfold plus a simple one that holds just an ID and a credit card and maybe a couple of folded up bills. The sales lady was extraordinarily gracious and wanted to show us all of the things they made. While we only intended to buy the wallet, my wife liked one of the womens' wallet designs and ended up ordering a custom built version in the leather color she preferred (no extra charge for custom -- you just need to wait 12-15 weeks though). There are leather handbags, luggage, briefcases and the like. All made right there on site. The prices are certainly not Walmart cheap -- but honestly, it's actually cheaper than a Coach bag made offshore. The men's wallet was $65 and the women's was $120.

I read about Satchel in an article about where to shop in Savannah (Southern Living Magazine), YEARS ago, and it's been on my radar ever since. I finally had the chance to visit and order a bag. Greg helped me and he was the perfect amount of helpful - not too pushy and gave good design info and visual aids throughout. He was patient and friendly - what a huge asset he is to this store and to the overall experience. Of course, as sweet as Greg is, I couldn't leave a review until I received my bag. I love it - it is just as I imagined and specified. It's such a unique and beautiful item. I think for the work, material quality and level of customization delivered that their prices are very fair. I also felt good supporting a Georgia small business. They have a good variety of leather items across a range of prices and I didn't feel pressured to spend more than I originally intended to spend. Highly recommend as a beautiful product to own!

Satchel has the most beautiful handmade leather goods in GA. I've stopped in a few times to purchase several of the leather cuffs/ bracelets. The ladies who work there are fairly stand offish but don't let that bother you. It's worth visiting and choosing a souvenir that will last for years.

Everything about Satchel is a complete dream. First, there's their sweet location on Liberty Street in Savannah. Their storefront is humble and unassuming, making the reveal that much better when you open the door and are greeted with the strong scent of leather. Even before you notice the bags and crafted goods, you'll notice Shepherd, the enormous, friendly dog lounging on the rug. He's calm and absolutely precious; give him a chance to sniffle at you and he'll reward you by leaning against you for pets. On to the leather goods. Oh my goodness. Everything is made in-house, just a few steps behind the counter. The inventory in the shop windows seems to be a mere fraction of what Satchel makes, as much of their business is custom orders. If you don't see something you love -- which would be shocking to me -- you can design your own bespoke piece, choosing your style and material as you go. Sounds expensive. Well, the prices reflect the quality, which is apparent when you pick up any of their pieces. I went with the intent to purchase a gift, but upon laying my hands on a hair-on-hide wallet, I was sold. I left with two shopping bags worth of leather goods and a hefty balance on my credit card; no regrets. It's only a matter of time before I call up the talented ladies at Satchel to get started on designing a tote for myself. I've been stalking their Instagram and I'm all heart eyes over their work. They carry a variety of handbags big and small, luggage, messenger bags for the men, passport holders, wallets, you name it. The best part is they specialize. You can pick the style of the piece you want, the colors of the leather, accessories, the lining ; and they hand make it. I just ordered a gorgeous pink bag with my personally selected leather tassel, lining and chose my own leathers. All for under $150 . This is a great spot for a quality made bag that supports locals!

I fell in love with my first purse from Satchel on a trip to Savannah last year. The women were wonderful and customized my bag to include a knitting pocket and still fit all my essentials. This year I decided to upgrade my work bag. Kathryn worked with me via phone and email to make sure the bag and clutch met all my needs. They are beautiful and were exactly what I needed.

Originally I liked Satchel very much! However, being a SCAD student that partnered with them for a collaborative project, I am completely disappointed and honestly appalled at their business practices. In a verbal agreement that they made with students, we were supposed to get 40% commission from the sale of the bag that we designed and screen-printed fabric for. They said that they would be in contact with us when our bags sold. But they never contacted me after months went by. Then when I went in to ask them if my bag had sold as it was no longer on display, they said yes. However they had no record of the sale and wouldn't pay me my rightful commission. I then talked to other students and some of them were told that their bags sold on sale price, so that meant $0 commission for us. They never disclosed that fact in the original agreement. Some other students were even told that the store was broken into and that the student's bag was stolen. I mean seriously, come on. When you partner with SCAD students and act like you are a legitimate business owner, I don't think it was too much for us to expect that our verbal contract would be upheld. What is worse-is that Elizabeth, the store owner was a previous SCAD student. I am honestly a very fair and kind person and I can't believe that there are people that have the nerve to mislead and frankly steal from hardworking students. What Satchel has done is simply not right. They are not a credible business! If you are okay with dishonesty and manipulation then go right ahead and buy from Satchel. But if you are a hardworking, independent individual, then I ask you to please NOT SUPPORT OR SHOP at SATCHEL! What they've done to students isn't right. *Reposting

Amazing experience designing own bag. Fully customized including longer cross body strap, additional wrist strap, extra pockets, heavy zipper, custom lining. I am in love! All this for well under $300. Bag will arrive at door in 2 months and I won't be shocked if I order more!

In addition to how phenomenal this enterprise is (all products are made by hand, on the premises...talk about shopping local!) the customer service is on point. We were in town for just the day, and I fell in love with a gorgeous bag that needed a customizable strap. Abigail walked me through the process, and Shannon actually created the strap for me the same day so I could go home with it. Just the best. I'm so glad I bought a piece from this place. Beautiful store....expensive though, I assume your paying for the 'artistic custom designs'. They were very nice, they're bags are gorgeous. It would be nice if they had smaller leather crossbody bags for around $100. Cool to look through.

I wandered by this store on an impromptu stop in Savanna. I was really drawn in by the beautiful bags on display - hide and leather. The staff was really friendly and knowledgeable, they explained everything to us- about the bags being made in house, custom orders, etc. My husband was obsessed with the leather bottle cozies and coasters. I have been looking for a wallet and found something similar to what I wanted. Ariel helped me design exactly what I wanted in a card holder, the price was very reasonable, and they will even ship it to me. This is a dream: supporting a local business by buying a quality product, even if it means waiting a little.

After a few trips to Satchel, I finally bought the purse that I had been eyeing (stalking, really) for a year. I got the perfect color - a pewter-y color I had been looking for in the big stores, but without luck. I added a snap for $8.50, made sure the straps were the right length (they were) and placed the order. The bag arrived a couple of weeks ago. I have a purse weakness and have quite of few designer bags, but this may be my favorite. It's lightweight, easy to get in and out of, the perfect size, shape, and color, and was well under the magic purse number of $300! I love it. And let me mention the fabulous young women who own and work in the store. They are amazingly talented, very friendly, extremely passionate about their work, and couldn't be more helpful. I will DEFINITELY be back for more. Bravo!
