If you’ve been to Colfax and haven’t visited satellite Bar, you’ve missed out. Stop at this place!! Best bar prices and bar tenders on all of Colfax. Absolute great prices and great company. This is Denver’s Cheers! Norm!!!!!.

Matthew H.

Google
Super cozy and divey vibes. One of the bartenders was VERY drunk and incredibly condescending to his own coworker. He was aggressively talking down to him which was wildly uncomfortable. They got so distracted that it took 10 minutes for them to pour a shot that I ordered. So definitely something weird going on with staff, but the vibe of the place is quite charming otherwise.

Nate G.

Google
Mikey is the Jam and made a newcomer feel like part of the gang! All the regulars are inviting and fun

Baumgartner L.

Google
Best bar on Colfax! Staff is great, especially the bartender, Renfro. Real professional. I’m a lawyer downtown, and I’ll be coming back with my friends.

Kevin S.

Google
This diner has been remodeling for a year but it was worth the wait. It's like a Dennys that serves cocktails. I had a mimosa and Denver omelet.

Cory B.

Google
Fantastic service. Mike was the best conversation. Made sure our group of 10 was taken care of with no issues

Google
I moved here from the east coast recently, this bar is a block from my apt so went there and love it! The bartenders are really nice and cool. The people are nice, it’s cheap and I actually left my book bag there by accident one Saturday night and went there Sunday when they opened and they had it, everything was there so very appreciative!

Allison S

Google
A cool, cheap, fun dive bar. Definitely a bit dark and grungy, but has a ski all machine, a pool table, a foosball table, and a pinball table. So it can be a really good time!

Yelp
This place is a different beast of its own.... We ended our night here and we came in around 1230. First thing I noticed was the complete trashed bartender behind the bar. even being hammered he was cool and attentive. I don't think they are supposed to do that, but this place was my kinda bar. Jukebox playing jams, sticky floors, sticky bar top... like get me a beer please. Haha. It's your typical dive bar, I got hammered here super quick, they def just pour till their hearts are satisfied here, no count, no reason to. Just strong ass shots. Around 1:45am bartender poured himself a shot along with my friend. She couldn't do hers it was so strong and big. So I killed it. But damn..... I was seeing doubles walking out. It was funny cause right after he poured that shot he's like "alright fuckers time to get the hell out of the bar". In Az you got 10 min to finish your drink after 2am. He told me that cops will come in and kick everyone out at 2. He kept drunkingly telling me I needed to respect him. Hahah I'm like alright dude we are leaving. We weren't rude at all, just didn't understand the hard 2am laws. Honestly this was the best place of the night. I'd go back there in a heartbeat!

Josh R.

Yelp
It's a cool little divey bar with pool and other games like foosball and pinball that college kids like to go to, and the bartenders are very friendly. Reasonably priced drinks, too! Tonight there was some drunk white lady who kept screaming into a bull horn though, and the fact that nobody did anything about it tells me that is normal. The bar is too tiny for all that, so it was very annoying and so me and my group decided to leave. I'd suggest going during the week unless you're more of a Coyote Ugly type of patron lol

Allison T.

Yelp
This bar has everything. Good booze, great patrons, amazing music. The burritos are worth making sweet love to and the hot sauce wants to be taken behind closed doors. I can't recommend this place more.
google avatar

Stephanie B.

Yelp
We always try to look for a small dive bar and this is definitely the place. Mookie was our bartender and he was really nice and gave us some good travel recommendations! They also have a fabulous selection of chips!
google avatar

Nick G.

Yelp
Why are the straws all different sizes? This really stresses me out. Also why is the bartender so damn sexy?
google avatar

Olivia M.

Yelp
The bartender was nice. Not terribly crowded. My only reason for the 2/5 was some weird fascist-type stickers on the table. "Don't feed the bums" or some weird shit like that. Also a picture of the Chinese president over what appeared to be a germ. So uh...yeah...kinda sus. Lol.

Yelp
Satellite bar is a great little dive bar. Cold beer, great service and local patrons. How can it get any better?! I'll be back next time I'm in town!

Allison P.

Yelp
I would give 0 stars if I could. 23 years old, valid up to date license from another state and the bartender told me he couldn't serve me because my license didn't have "bumps on it" and there's a new thing where all real licenses have bumps on them. He didn't scan it or anything. Don't go here unless you plan on being turned away with a valid ID and needing to find a plan B. I offered a second ID and credit card too and he still refused service. AVOID. (Bartender was so rude I literally had to create a Yelp account and leave my first review)

Casandra B.

Yelp
Sam Nordstrom!!! Amazing! Best drinks, best service, 10/10 We had a buttery nipple tonight... delicious

Yelp
I remember when I stumbled in here on a Friday or Saturday afternoon with my best friend. The bartender tried to convince us that he owned the bar. Nice try, dude. I have since learned better (not that I believed the unnamed drink slinger to begin with). Satellite is what it is. I feel dirty writing a review for them, but it had to be done. The negative reviews on here make me laugh because 1. They may be true 2. It's a bar on Colfax. What do you expect? This is not the place for uptight sticks in the mud who can't handle a good time. Be laid back and enjoy. Heading from Downtown, this is the first bar that you may encounter as you head to the East Side of Colfax. Sure, there may be some scum that happens upon this fine establishment, but the bartenders are quite astute to keep the riff raff out. If you want riff raff, head down a few doors or blocks to that other bar. The dark one that opens at 8 AM every day. On the other hand, riff raff keeps the place interesting, most of the time. It's a give and take. The bartenders are great. They treat everyone with the utmost respect, pour very healthy strong drinks, and are only a dick to you if you a dick to them. Perfect give and take. Drinking tip? Never treat the bartender or owner like a dick. This is a general rule for all bars. Every bartender here is sweet and nice and cuddly like a teddy bear. Pool table, pinball machine, skeeball. Three things that make a bar what it is (among other things). Add that to the kind bar patrons that come here, and I promise you will have a wicked good time.

Yelp
Great dive bar. If you like beer and shots with a good bit of local conversation this place is it!

Yelp
This place is clean, friendly and offers a dangerously efficient $5 PBR & shot of Jameson special (pb&j) that's difficult to pass up. They also offer something called a Moscow Mule (vodka, ginger beer and lime juice in a copper cup). It's tasty, but at $6 a pop I'd prefer something a step above well vodka. This is really my only complaint thus far. This is a good place that is also close to where I live and, as such, is fast becoming my new bar.

James G.

Yelp
HOMOPHOBIC OR JUST PLAIN STUPID. Went to this bar literally once a week for months until suddenly i show up one night with a group of friends (all lgbtq+) and the bartender decides to openly say bad things about people I'm with in front of me, very abrasive language about them, and eventually said "i wish they would f***ing leave now". When he realized I was with them he quickly tried to correct himself and went to take my card to give me a drink as I had been patiently waiting without saying a word. I pulled my card back and asked if he would like us to leave. To which he replied "please, yes tell them to get the fuck out" TO WHICH I REPLIED, "okay no problem, wasnt our first choice anyway." So i walked to my friends seated at a table and told them what he said. He then ran over to our table and said "yeah get the fuck out your friend is being a piece of shit, you're done" referring to me. All I did was what he asked. We went in there ready to spend money at a bar I had spoken so highly of prior. I'll never return. Shame. As a skateboarder new to the area, this place was one that made me excited for random nights out. Now Ill forever have a bad taste in my mouth. I'll give my money to the RiNo bars you so desperately wish didn't exist instead. Let them drain your income day by day. Losers

Yelp
Let's be clear, I'm easy to please when it comes to dive bars. I love canned beer, Duck Hunt, Golden Tee, billiards, and good music. Satellite Bar has those plus some good times. Great craft beer selection(cans and draft) as well as most of the non-craft style! They even have Labatt! I'm in heaven. I also love dive bars with Touch Tunes. Nothing better then throwing in some great music when you are the only ones in the joint. I was there on a Sunday evening for a running group, so I'm not sure what the vibe is at other times. However, I will be back and keep you up to date.

Reed Truman H.

Yelp
This bar is an intimate spot where you can find the same folks time and again, strike up a conversation with anyone, and where the staff are honest, warm, and friendly. I frequent the bar a couple times a month, and have been doing so for a couple of years, and the staff and vibe remain consistent. Love this place! -R
google avatar

Tyler O.

Yelp
Great place great drinks great specials! Jared, Mike, and Hope are three of the coolest bartenders in town. Check it out!
google avatar

Charles M.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite places to go in Denver. The staff are kind, service is quick, and the atmosphere is chill without the depressed feeling you can get from a dive bar. Also, I'm not usually one for bar food from a jar, but their pickled eggs are legitimately tasty.
google avatar

Andrew N.

Yelp
You come to this bar for the service and drinks, not necessarily for the patrons which lets be honest we are all suspect. Strong drinks and good conversation, one of the last true originals bars of Denver. I don't know how the bar tenders keep their heads with us drunks, high five to y'all. #satellite #thanksforthethickskin

Yelp
Four star attributes of Satellite Bar: 1. Moscow Mules in copper mugs 2. Decent specials on interesting beers 3. Shuffleboard (free) 4. Good music playing 5. Not crowded (at least, not that I've ever seen) This is one of the "nicer" places on Colfax that still has the Colfax charm but not as much of the "dive" atmosphere of Nob Hill, Squire, Sancho's etc. It's smaller and there's always somewhere to sit. The service has always been pretty good since they're never very busy, and the clientele is non-intimidating enough. The bathroom is small and kind of feels like it's sticking out in the middle of the bar, but it's not awful. A great place to go if you're looking for a laid back bar night any time of the week.
google avatar

Matt J.

Yelp
Second time we stopped by the Satellite as a meet-up spot before a show at the Fillmore. Had a great time the first time, although thought it was odd they only had two copper mugs for the Moscow Mules, which wasn't enough for our group. Drinks are stiff, prices seem fair, shuffleboard table is rickety, but still gets points for being there, and bartenders seem legit. However. . .once it was time to cash out, I got my tab and couldn't make sense of the prices- -single vodka ($3.00) tall ($1.50) ($4.50) -double vodka ($7.00) tall ($1.50) ($8.50) I inquired about being charged to make the drink a tall. . . was the extra squirt of soda water really being charged? The bartender give me the 'duh, stupid' look while he told me that tall meant more booze. I said I was unfamiliar with that, as I've always know a drink to be ordered as either a single short, a single tall, a double short, or a double tall. He told me to check me facts, and he didn't have time to deal with me. I was confused then at why my double drink was being charged extra as a tall as well, asking if this meant my single was really a double, and my double really a triple. I also asked why a double is more than twice the price of a single to begin with. He continued to grumble, smirk, and ignore me while I was trying to pay. I'm bummed the night ended this way, as I'll make it a point not to return, and encourage my friends to meet me elsewhere instead. Cool bar. Cool location. Weird pricing with a bartender who can't justify it.

Yelp
Horrible service. Horrible staff. Was like being in a episode of twilight zone. I've seen these guys treat customers (and myself) horribly and say and do the most outlandish things to customer. I actually can't believe the owner tolerates their behavior. I've seen them shun people for no apparent reason. I've seen them turn the jukebox off if they don't like the music. People paid for the music!!! I'm surprised someone hasn't taken these fools to task!

Yelp
Best bar closest to the Capitol! Its location is prime, therefore is destined to be the beginning or end of a Colfax pub crawl! I love the shuffle board table, foosball, big buck hunter and juke box combo. There is even a pool table in the back! It is always a perfect fit whether empty or crowded - somehow it is always both simultaneously. The beers on tap and drink specials could be better, but you can't please everyone. I got the stupid idea to mix the beer I didn't like w/ my buddy's gross beer and chug them last time so don't ask me about wise booze decisions. Plus, some people really do enjoy a 'lunch box' special. And the juke is a challenge for those of us with a shorty perspective. I have had to stand on a chair to see the screen, but have become lazy of late and just hand off a couple bucks and yell out requests to a friend. Somehow I almost always end up doing a mad tea party thing and sitting at the bar, then playing a game, then hanging out in a booth, then hitting up the juke/bathroom/bar, and planting at a table. Is it the trippy floor or fun artwork? Or the drinks and my inabilaty to sit still on such an exciting intersection? Just thinking about this fun venue got me a buzz, my brain is having some sort of associative transitive thing going on.........neato!
google avatar

Nick G.

Yelp
Satellite Bar is a place with alcohol that people come to drink. They also have free shuffle board. That is all.

Movortep ..

Yelp
Paul O., you're full of shit. I moved to the other side of the bar because of your toxic behavior. If you feel the need to review Sati and Hope in such a way, you've obviously haven't been spending the thousands of dollars you've claimed here. I love all the bartenders here, including Hope. God forbid your fragile ego be shaken because you got called out on talking politics at the bar when the majority of us are just trying to decompress. Your wishy-washy political standing is crap and annoying. I love coming in regardless of who is bartending because all the bartenders are amazing. Luke and all others reading this, please disregard that last post, the guys a douche. And the novel was not worth the time to read nor the effort to pay attention to. Love Sati, love the bartenders, and love the regs.
google avatar

Anthony N.

Yelp
I gotta hand it to ya, Satellite - you kinda rock my socks. Being near the end of the bar strip near the Capitol is one thing, but being able to still own a unique flavor and deliver great service is another. Not to mention how clean the floors are: It is surprisingly un-sticky given the location on the infamous Colfax. Drinks are equally awesome. Lots of local drafts. Music ain't too bad either. All in all, if you just feeling like chillin' and don't wish to stray too far from the 'hood, this is a great neighborhood bar that's cozy enough to increase your inebriated levels, but not too cozy where you'll find bums sleeping in the corners.
google avatar

Aaron E.

Yelp
This is probably my most frequented bar in the Denver area, not necessarily because I like it the best more because it just has something about it that feels comfortable. I like the bartenders, typically enjoy the clientele and I love me some shuffleboard... so here I am. The drinks are typically very affordable. That being said, they have been steering more towards the microbrew trend that is going around. It does allow for a nice choice between the old $5 brew or tieing one on with the $5 PBR - Jamison Lunchbox. I like either option so it is good with me! The bar is dark, the people range from hipster to hippy to vagrant or possible trendy but all are welcome as long as you pay. I've never felt threatened so I would say to all come on in, take a load off and enjoy some brews at your good old fashion neighborhood dive!
google avatar

Michelle S.

Yelp
Finally checked out the Satellite and it was a lot of fun, I have to say. We enjoyed a few games of shuffleboard and chatted with the bartender Mike (who provided awesome service). My husband and I stuck with PBR but our friends really enjoyed the Moscow Mules. It reminded me a bit of a NY bar we used to go to, so I liked that. We will definitely venture to the Satellite again.
google avatar

Kelly T.

Yelp
How have I lived here for over two years and never been to this bar?! I walked in here on a Friday night to a half full bar blasting some form of really loud music. I can't tell the difference between punk and metal anymore, but it was one of those. The bartender was a nice guy and they had a decent selection of beer on tap as well as in cans. The prices are pretty standard: $5 for a craft pint and there's a pool table and shuffle board table in the corners of the bar. This being on Colfax and all, I was expecting a pretty gnarly crowd, but it was mostly hipsters and young people having a relaxing time enjoying beer and being out on a Friday. No hooliganry to speak of. So this is a pretty nice place to go if you want a sort of divey bar where you can pay with a credit card, get good beer and hang out for a while. We didn't stay too long though because I'm an old fart and I thought the music was just a little too loud to have a normal conversation over. But it's entirely possible that I'm just a curmudgeon nowadays.
google avatar

Christa L.

Yelp
Another dive bar on the strip. This place has potential, however, I dropped by after the GABF. I'm sure like every other bar in Denver the locals were worn out by all the tourists. The bartender was still cool and didn't treat us like out of towners. It's got a friendly vibe to it and a shuffle board. As much as I wanted to spin that hockey puck made out of ball bearing down the lane it was already occupied. If it wasn't for the fact that do o'clock was nearing I probably would have stayed longer. Next time I'm in Denver I'll be sure to check this bar out again. Oh and they have a digital jukebox thingy plenty of seats, pool table, foosball, and did I mention the shuffleboard?
google avatar

Jenn H.

Yelp
In the spring, I moved about three blocks away and I started going here because it was extremely convenient. I have now been living here for about three months and I must say that it has become one of my favorite places to go to on any day of the week. But, if it's your first time, I'd definitely go on a weekend. I simply enjoy the strange mixture of people on any given night, the service is great, the drinks are cheap, and the Moscow Mules are on point! I have taken and introduced a lot of people to this place and they have all had a great time. The only downfall is this one bartender - I know I said the service is great, but that's because I try to avoid going when I know he's working. He never looks you in the eye and is always downright rude to EVERYBODY (not just the 'new' people). If they'd do something with this guy, I'd give this place five stars. I always try to go when Greg is working - he's great. Also, the pool table is stuffed in a corner. Overall, great place, great prices, great vibes.
google avatar

Michael S.

Yelp
I don't get the shuffle board table taking up the front of the bar that you can't play. Is it a hipster thing? An ironic shuffle board? Good music. Good drinks. Weird vibe. It was our first time stopping in, so maybe we caught a weird Friday night or something. But it was full of folks, who seemed miserable to be there. Not an empty seat in the house, but they all seemed sad to be occupying those seats. We only had a round. We played some touch screen crack since the shuffleboard was occupying the only empty space and we couldn't play that. Oh, hipsters.
google avatar

Caitlin P.

Yelp
"You could go to Satellite bar, it is a total dive." That was all it took and I knew that was a bar for me. After driving and walking past Satellite for a year and a half I finally went and am now smitten. It is perfect. Small bar with a good mix of twenty somethings and townies. Clean, with a couple small tables and booths. You order from the bar where your total could be something like this..."three drinks right?" Says my bartender "yep, two talls and a short." I reply "okay, under twenty" is the price he then quoted me. Turns out it was $12, not too shabby.
google avatar

Johnathan V.

Yelp
Someone recommended we check out Satellite Bar, but after learning the location I was a little skeptical to say the least. On Colfax near the Capitol? Am I gonna find bums sleeping in the bathroom? However I was surprised to find an open, clean, and modern space inside. Lots of locals when we stopped in, but they all were friendly enough, and no... no bums in the bathroom (which also was very clean). There are plenty of beers on draft, but if those don't tickle your fancy, Satellite also has plenty to choose from in bottles and cans. Further proof that Denver is a beer lover's paradise. Oh yeah, don't forget about the PBR w/ a Jame-Oh sidecar special for 5 bucks if you're looking to get a head start on the night.
google avatar

Alejandro D.

Yelp
I like this place. It's around the corner from my friend's place. It's unpretentious but also not a dump. Solid, solid, solid Oh yea, shuffleboard! (table sucks, though)
google avatar

John H.

Yelp
I have a stutter and the bartender just rejected me because couldn't speak straight. Wow.
google avatar

Richard R.

Yelp
As little bars on Colfax go this one is AWESOME! Right in the heart of Denver - you not only get to see all the fun peeps walking down The Fax but this place is clean too! Lots of space, close to everything, laid back staff, shuffle board, foos ball, pool, full bar, munchies for sale...what more could one need from a local watering hole? This is the perfect "go-to" spot no matter what day of the week you might need a drink. I've been here on New Year's Eve and just a Tuesday Eve - always welcoming and a great bar to enjoy the city and a cold brew!
google avatar

Ray W.

Yelp
Great little oasis of a bar in the Colfax land of dives. Friendly bartenders, reasonable prices, and mostly free of local "wildlife". Some people mistake this place for a dive, but it definitely is not. At most it's a "dive wannabe", attracting a mixture of the capitol crowd, and the young, somewhat hip inhabitants of capitol hill.
google avatar

Kaye W.

Yelp
This place never seems to be crowded. Even after watching fireworks at Civic Center Park July 3rd when there were hordes of people leaving the park they were not crowded. Usually that would make one suspicious of a place, but I think it may have to do with the location. From there to about two blocks east of there on Colfax is always littered with an interesting mix of folks who may harass the shit out of you when you walk by. I stopped in earlier this evening, however, and my boyfriend and I each got a PBR and a shot of Jameson for $5. Ten dollars for two beers and two shots is pretty damn awesome. That merits four stars in my book.
google avatar

David C.

Yelp
Best dive bar in Denver, hands down! Have been coming in for years. Great neighborhood bar and Colfax landmark! Bartenders are quick, funny and make this spot a enjoyable place for a drink after work or to party on the weekend. Good beer selection on tap and bottles/cans best happy hour with $5 shot and beer pbr special and dollar off drafts. If your a local and haven't been, shame on you. If you visiting, come in and meet real Coloradans!
google avatar

Melany M.

Yelp
Was visiting Denver from Buffalo for a couple days with my boyfriend. We had a long day of traveling and just wanted to find a place to drink and watch some football but not with inflated downtown prices or a touristy chain feel. Stumbled upon this place while looking up bars and decided to give it a whirl. We were very glad we did! Total dive, neighborhood bar that's our style, cheap drinks (around $5 for a draft beer, also PBR tap) pool table and very good company. We went here back to back nights because we liked the vibes so much. Nick was our bartender both nights and he was great!
google avatar

Bill b.

Yelp
A great late night colfax bar! If your looking for a coat check, you won't find it here! But If your a fan of dive's this one's for you! Its usually filled with great service and fun people! You are doing your self a favor stopping by this gem with a group of friends on a friday night!
google avatar

Tara C.

Yelp
This place is great. Everyone is really nice and they make awesome Moscow Mule's!!! The bartenders are totally cool and really friendly. Its quite possibly the perfect place for any kind of drink!
google avatar

Elizabeth H.

Yelp
Hands down my favorite Denver bar. They have free shuffleboard, Moscow Mules, and Big Buck Hunter. Most of the bartenders are awesome, they have good prices on drinks, and there's always crazy homeless people outside for additional entertainment. It's usually pretty slow, once in awhile a crowd of hipsters will wonder in, but they don't ever seem to stay too long. I would recommend this dive bar, but I'm selfish and would prefer it not get too crowded.
google avatar

Josh T.

Yelp
Been here 3 times now. Always been a different bartender, always been fantastic. Met Jarod and mike tonight, they had the whole place pumped up. Bachelorette party came in, they enoyed the hell out of it as well. Wow! Great guys. I'll be back.

Becky S.

Yelp
Wait, have I really never reviewed the Satellite? My stomping grounds? I actually haven't been in a few weeks, I wonder if they miss me? Probably not. Anyway, the drinks are strong and cheap. The TV is good - the bartender usually takes requests, or at least does a majority vote, sometimes it's sports, sometimes it's Jeopardy, sometimes it's HDnet. All entertaining. The only thing more entertaining would be the bums wandering in and out. Ohh boy. On weekends it's a surprising mix of people, not the type I'd expect to find on East Colfax! But during the week, and especially during snowstorms, the place is pretty empty. There's always a friend to be made here, though!

Jenna G.

Yelp
Well lets star and start it up with this... this is the second time on my credit card that I have been charged.
google avatar

Mike D.

Yelp
This is a spot that I remember opening up and scratching my head on how such a small place is going to survive. Fast forward 6+ years and not only does the Satellite still remain, my appreciating for it has grown substantially. I use to not ever venture outside of PBR however lately I have been expanding my palette of more craftier brews. This place is very dynamic with their line up and I have learned so much on local craft beers from these guys. The place is always clean and the staff is very kind. What else can you ask for on the Fax?
google avatar

Valeda S.

Yelp
Love this place! It was our evening's saving grace after being treated horribly and having too much moola taken from us at the cheeky monk. Great service from the bartenders, fun crowd (got willingfully roped into a birthday dare scavenger hunt) and of course the prices are right. Tried heading elsewhere at one point but realized we'd be hard pressed to find somewhere that would hold a flame to the fun we were having at the satellite. Rock on!

Ryan M.

Yelp
Great place to chill and grab a beer. Definitely not for uptight individuals looking for an upscale drinking experience. If you like craft beer, they've got some, and if your hunting bargains they've got super cheap Schlitz in a can. Complete with some bar games this place is fun to spend some time in.
