The Satellite Motel is an Omaha landmark. The unique architecture makes it worth the visit. The rooms were tidy, clean, and in good condition, but basic and nothing fancy. The bed was what you would expect from a relatively cheap motel- don’t expect to feel like you’re sleeping on a cloud. I have stayed in much worse places- I was not concerned about safety or sanitation. Unfortunately, I would not return for another stay due to the overwhelming stench of cigarette and marijuana smoke throughout the hotel and in my room. I left with the smell clinging to my clothing, that’s how thick it is. It is unfortunate that a place like this, which has so much potential to be a unique destination experience, has fallen to nothing more than a cheap roadside motel. I get that the owners have to do what they have to do to keep the lights on. I really hope that someday someone takes over and breathes some life back into it.

The motel is cheap and the rooms have all the basic necessities. That being said, they require $20 cash upfront as a deposit regardless how you are paying which I thought was weird. They do give it back up on checkout though. The entire motel smells like cigarettes and there were shady characters walking around. The cigarette smoke often leaked into our room. It's hard to sleep due to it being located right next to a busy intersection so you'll be hearing cars at all hours of the night. If you just need a quick place to stay for a night, this is a good deal. Otherwise, spend the extra money and go somewhere else if you want a more comfortable less sketchy experience.

I have wanted to stay at the Satellite Motel since I first saw it 17 years ago. I finally stayed for my anniversary and it was wonderful! It was quiet, clean and very unique. The main lobby area smelled a bit smoky but our room didn't have a whiff of smoke whatsoever. The room was updated and spacious; I could also tell it was very clean. I never use the covers in motels and hotels so it was a non issue that the blanket had a small hole. We just tossed it to the side and used a blanket we brought from home. The sheets were immaculate and fresh. The shower is huge and has very strong water pressure! Also very clean. I love the bonus curtain in case the clear door doesn't give enough privacy. They thought of everything. We enjoyed the community balcony as well; it's a great photo opp and a fun touch. It was a great price and a unique experience that I highly recommend for anyone who has ever wanted to experience this motel!

Staff way great and very welcoming. Girl behind the desk was so sweet. The room set up was nice too, bathroom is way better than what i expected and I love how the other room noises didn't come into my room would definitely go again for peace and quiet❤️❤️❤️

Old, but nice. Nice location. been around for years. Would come again. Reminds me of the 1960's. Guest service were friendly. Just minutes away from the interstate and other main streets in Omaha. Plenty of food places all within 5-25 minutes of this location. Rooms were clean.

Used to be my absolute favorite hotel, but over the last few years management/staff/I don't know what they are, have gotten worse and worse. ZERO customer service, in fact we couldn't even get a bath towel from them! Rooms are totally inconsistent, some have coffee makers, others, not even a plastic cup. The remodel is very nice (the bathrooms are the highlight of the room) but it's hard to notice the room through the terrible housekeeping. Oh, and did I mention it's rare the ice machine works, and bring snacks, the vending machine has only 3 or 4 tiny bags of chips and 2 Hershey bars at all times! Still a favorite of mine, but if you're going to stay there, I recommend bringing your own towels and cleaning supplies though!

I've been staying here a few days and I really like it. The description "Cozy - Casual" is accurate. Staff is helpful and friendly, bed comfy, love the balcony/"observation deck". I actually enjoy it in the evenings and it has a great view of eastbound L street.

The room continually smelled like smoke. The room was non-smoking, yet everything had a cigarette burn. There were red smears of something on the bathroom door and stains on the carpet. The shower was lovely except it smelled like someone was in there with me smoking. Bed was uncomfortable.

Yelp
I would like to report a negative customer service experience I had while calling this establishment. When I called, there was no greeting, and I was not even sure I called the right number. Upon asking the price of a single night, I was met with a brusque answer, and was hung up on. Since I had more questions, I had to call again. I actually had to be the first one to speak on the next call as there was absolutely no greeting again. I asked a secondary question, a weekly rate, your employee simply stated the number and hung up on me again. Alas, I had more than two questions! I needed to know if an ADA accessible room was available. I called again, and with my question, requested a supervisor and a phone number. I was given an 11 digit phone number, which is clearly illegitimate I called again later in the evening, and got a similar response. I was told there was no management or Supervisor that I could speak to, until he suddenly switched up and had a name and number. This information was unintelligible and when I asked to clarify the phone number, I was again hung up on. I called 2 more times, and they didn't even answer the phone. This being said, I would appreciate a follow up on what is being done to address this.

Yelp
Had a friend call me said he was staying at this motel. I was at work and could not speak to him, i told him i would call him back when i was finished working.... I tried to call and the woman that answered the phone was very rude and disturbing. Was not a nice experience with this hotel. I would not recommend it, comfort suites and inns are very nice also embbassy suites. My friend sounded like he needed help and she would not very disappointed, 'HOPING MY FRIEND IS OK AND NOT IN TROUBLE WITH HIS LIFE" SATELLITE ON 60TH AND L ST ALONG WITH RELAX INN SAME OWNERS WOULD HIGHLY NOT RECCOMEND STAYING HERE... VERY DISAPPOINTED IN THIER SERVICE.

Yelp
Wish I could leave no stars, I didn't even stay the night and asked for a refund and the lady told me I couldn't and that it was policy! Still so upset would not recommend

Yelp
I stopped off here while driving from Montreal to San Francisco based on using AAA Triptik. It was slightly off the highway so took some time to actually find. The parking lot was confusing for me and quite icy from snow run off that would melt during the day and re-freeze at night. A miracle that I didn't slip and break a bone really. When I got in shortly after 2330 (after ~12 hours of driving), the front desk was empty and I could hear a child or baby shouting down the hall in addition to a slight smoking smell. I picked up the phone to catch the guy on duty and he arrived a minute later. While I waited, more baby/child screaming that echoed through the corridor. I was definitely re-considering whether to stay here or not, despite the AAA accreditation/discount. I told the guy when he did show up of my concerns and he told me that he could give me a room on the 2nd floor away from the noise. I wasn't feeling confident about staying there, but it was a reasonable compromise since I had been driving for almost 12 hours already that day and needed the rest, not to look around for another room. The rooms aren't rectangular due to the shape of the building - one large circle with rooms on the inside & outside, making them all slightly curved and oddly shaped. Thankfully the room didn't smell of smoke (the hallway even on the 2nd floor did). There was a microwave to reheat pizza I had picked up on the way and free wifi (though I had to go back downstairs back to the front desk to get the ~12 digit password for the network) to catch the girlfriend on skype and update my family on my journey. TV was in a real nook due to the room shape making it impossible to watch TV from bed. Not ideal for me as I crashed pretty hard, but not necessarily ideal for you. I didn't check what the check-out time was so I was abruptly awaken the next day at 1105 by the cleaning ladies who told me. The front desk called 2-3 minutes later with the same message. Time to go. I packed up my things quickly to get going - ironically the front desk area was deserted, despite their rushing me out of their strangely shaped Motel. If I had known all of this now, I would have definitely stayed somewhere else that night while passing through. Live and learn!

Yelp
A great place to go if you need sleep or to party with a friend or Loved one, they have great showers built for 2 - 4 people, color TV w/cable bar type fridges so bring your own booze and Pizza delivery to your door.
