The location is beautiful, and it's one of the only options for dining out on Saturna. Unfortunately, we did not have a great experience due to extremely slow and inattentive service. It seems like there are definitely some new people on the team, so I tried to be patient. Plus, we're on island time, so no rush. But this was next level slow.
We got a seat and menus right away and initially things were good. We enjoyed the view and chatted, but 15 minutes passed before we got a chance to place an order for drinks. This is where I made a mistake, I should have ordered everything at once. We then waited another 30+ minutes to order food. We're 45 minutes in and all we have is are two nearly empty cups and an order in with the kitchen. Or so we thought. I should mention 3 different people interacted with us during the visit. One younger gentleman and two ladies. After another 30 minutes, one of the ladies came up and asked us if we wanted to order any food. I told her we had placed an order with the young man. She said she would check to make sure the order got placed. Apparently it didn't, so that explains part of the wait. We were starving at this point since we had arrived hungry. Thankfully we ordered water with our drinks, but even that was empty at this point and no refills were offered. The food came pretty quick after that, I would say about 15 more minutes. The younger gentleman dropped it off without a word or any cutlery. No ketchup, naptins, salt, vinegar, etc. I asked for some of these items, primarily utensils and it took another 10 minutes for those. After a few minutes of waiting, we just decided to eat with our hands. I also did not receive what I ordered, but we didn't bother mentioning it. I wanted an appetizer of onion rings and an order of fish and chips, but got fish and onion rings subbed as a side instead. At this point I didn't care enough and just asked for the bill. I only tipped 10% because of the ladies, if the fellow had delivered me the bill it would have been one of the few times I would give no tip at a restaurant.
We arrived at about 5:15pm and left at 7:25pm. We wolfed down our food in a couple minutes. On the plus side, the food was fairly good. I had wanted to try the chocolate lava cake, but we had to get going since we took the boat over and I didn't want to get caught out on the water at dusk. We made it back just in time for the sunset. It's worth going here once for the view and ambiance, but I don't know if we'll be back anytime soon.
