Small, serene, and deeply personal. The exhibition is compact but thoughtful, and the house’s architecture adds to the calm. Staff keep numbers low so you can move at your own pace and actually read. You’ll be done in about an hour, but the atmosphere hangs around. Book ahead and treat it like a quiet interlude in the city.

Intimate and historical guest house with lots of charm. The staff is outstanding, without exception kind, warm and accommodating. The food was a delight, even for those of us non vegetarians. Our room was the historical Kasturba room, spacious, clean and comfortable. The fire was lit in its fireplace for us on cool spring nights. It had the best shower we had in our 4 different high end hotels in SA. Incredible history to top it all off.

We very much enjoyed our stay at this house, which is architecturally interesting in its own right aside from the fact that Gandhi once lived there. Highlights were dinner by the fire in the sitting room, the array of books and the jazz performance that was arranged at our request. Would highly recommend whether or not you have a strong interest in Gandhi.

I had the pleasure of enjoyng a night at this wonderful sanctuary located calmly and peacefully in the heart of johannesburg.||The history of the location and building speaks for itself as one of Ghandi residences during his tme here in SA.||This place is perfect place to switch off, meditated, have a massage & unwind without the interruption of technology (no TV's in the room, nor aircon) however the indoor fire place was amazing.||As for the food - delicious vegatarian meals are served, ensuring the body and soul is nourished. The pairing menu is super delicous and is highly suggested when staying here.||||Staff are wonderful friendly and accomodating.||||Thank you to the whole team for a wonderful experience.

Very nice place, the house where Gandhi stayed has been left mostly untouched, with 2 new units added for guests. The rooms are very comfortable, very clean.|We loved the meals we took in the Kraal.|The museum is also very interesting, presenting some aspects of Ghandi's early life we did not know.

An amazing find in the Northern Suburbs of Johannesburg. We stayed in Ghandi’s old office with his sleeping quarters over our head. The museum was fabulous, we learned a great deal about Ghandi and his time in South Africa. How he developed his doctrine of passive resistance was inspiring.||The food was excellent and staff fabulous.||A humbling and enlightening experience.

We recently spent three nights at the Satyagraha House and it was a trip we won’t soon forget. The history can be felt throughout the rooms and the grounds. The staff are attentive, kind, and helpful. As a bonus, the Satyagraha House makes sure that they are paid a living wage and tips aren’t required. We had breakfast each morning and dinner one night. All of the food was excellent. There’s gardens on the property and you can taste the freshness in everything. The room we had was perfect. Minimally appointed, but had everything you could ever need. Combined with the peaceful nature of the property, it was a place that we felt truly special to experience. ||||The Satyagraha House is a little more expensive than other places in town, but it makes up for it easily by providing its guests with a unique and wonderful experience. If you have any interest in the history of Gandhi, vegetarianism, and/or just want a wonderful place to stay with great staff, I can’t recommend The Satyagraha House enough.

Beautifully designed house and grounds with information on Gandi. I made a mistake in not opting for a guide that could have explained more details. Still, interesting quick stop to understand Gandi's presence in Johannesburg. And absolutely lovely spaces.
