We stayed at this guesthouse for 3 nights in December 2016. The guesthouse is nothing special, but absolutely ok. ||Room: |We had a large room in upper floor with 3 bed and a private bathroom. The room was in clean condition with AC, Fan and Sat TV with international channels. Lots of power sockets. All windows and door sealed with mosquitoe nets. Over the beds also mosquito nets. Matrazes were on the hard side. Bed cover very heavy. Bathroom with hot shower (and enough water pressure). Western style toilet.||Hotel area:|lots of places to sit outside. Directly in front of the room a table with two chair. In the garden two pagodas with table and chair. The area was mostly shadow, not much sun places. Only chair and no sunbeds provided (same as all other places).|There was also a dining building where we had our breakfast.||Breakfast:|Mix of western style and nepalese breakfast. All three times we had some nepalese potato dish with egg omlete, three slices of toast, mango juice, masala tea, butter, marmelade. It was tasteful and we had no stomach problems with it. We didn't had lunch or dinner at the hotel.||Location:|The guesthouse is in the centre of the village Sauraha. This is almost a tourist ghetto, all safaries start in Sauraha.|Many restaurants and shops directly in front of the hotel. The park is in walking distance.|All restaurants in this area are expensive and charge 10% service fee and tax on top. For two main dishes with something to drink we always ended up around 1100rs. ||Park:|We booked two tours directly at the hotel:|We did the 4h jeep safari which I cannot recommend at least in December. Gras is very high, except an animal steps on the way in front if you it's hard to see anything. This might be different at other time of the year when the gras is not so high) We saw some deer only. Too many noisy jeeps driving on the same road. On the trip we saw some tourists doing a several day hiking tour, but walked on the same street which was used by the jeep?!?|In the middle of the park we stoped at the crocodile breeding centre which were additional 100rs/person and even for this price not worth it (very disappointing to see many crocodile in cages without any information except a visitor centre).|Also we booked the combined canoe, dschungle walk, elephant breeding centre tour which was much better. We used the morning tour. The was still lots of fog/mist over the area which made it somehow mystical. The canoe trip was very quiet and relaxing. Saw many different kind of bird, especial the beautiful ice bird was all around. During the dschungle walk we saw fresh footprints of tiger and rhino but didn't find them. We saw crocodile, some deer, boar. The elephant breeding centre was disappointing (no separate entrance fee).||Trip:|Both directions it took us the whole day by tourist bus. We started 7-8am and arrived around 5pm. Don't know why they tell the people it takes 4-5 hours...||Service:|We experienced outstanding service at this guesthouse. Pickup at bis station, organizing bus tickets with good seats for the return trip. After we did not see a rhino during the two safari trips they used their contacts to find out when a rhino showed up. In the late evening they called us und brought us to a rhino which was drinking at the river nearby (not many guesthouses would do this).|
