Spent 5nights in a one-bedroom beach bungalow mid-December, definitely “5star location” as the website suggests. Our hosts Grant and Robyn made you feel very welcome, as well as Poppy the pup! Make sure Grant shows you some of his Gro-pro film of him snorkelling.||The resort is approximately an hours’ drive from the ferry (depending on if you stick to the speed limit!), keep an eye out for the Lava Fields and then it is about 5mins down the road – it is well signed.||Our beach bungalow was very comfortable and clean with a great view of the beach. The décor made you feel like you were in your own beach house with a dining table and a couple of wicker chairs. The private outdoor shower was a nice plus showering under the stars. Air conditioner worked well; the room also had a ceiling fan. The kitchenette was complete with cutlery/crockery for 4people and microwave/kettle/toaster with complimentary tea/coffee. Undercover in the patio area was enough space to hang your towel etc.||The Barefoot Bar and Restaurant is open all day and situated right on the beach, offering complimentary breakfast (part of our booking) which was certainly enough to set you up for the day (fruit/eggs on toast/tea or coffee), or you could order off the menu for extra. Loved they changed all the tablecloths for each dining experience and serviette folding was just a nice extra. The bar offered a special daily cocktail or there was a good selection from the drink’s menu. Food menu changed daily which included fresh/local cuisine which was changed on the blackboard each day. Not disappointed in any of the meals. A weather board is a nice touch, had the weather/tides daily, we did suggest changing the night before so you can plan for the next day. The restaurant provides a water filter station to refill your water.||Borrow snorkels/flippers from the office or take your time to check out the swap bookshelf – kayaks are also free to use. We had our own snorkels but strongly suggest that you borrow some flippers. The snorkelling was great, jump in near where the restaurant is and let the current take you on an exploration of the coral and fish life and if you are lucky, turtles – hence, the flippers to assist you to get back to shore. The only time to do snorkelling is about 2hr either side of high tide. Talk to the staff and they will let you know. If you what to cool off at low tide, there is a beautiful swimming hole to flop around in.||Extra’s: there is a shop across the road that sells a nice selection of goodies. An ATM is next door as well as a coffee shop/pizza shop combined. Walking distance there is also a bank if you need exchange any local money. The resort next door offers a spa treatment, offering massages etc. If you need laundry done, near the Lava Fields there is a Laundromat which will wash/dry.||Conclusion: after spending 2wks in Samoa, this is one place we’d go back too (opinion of course!), because of the relaxed atmosphere, friendliness, good food and it is owned by locals. The only downside as noted in other comments is the roster or rosters who have forgotten what time it is…but hey, they are all part of the experience and don’t let that take away all the good things.
