Everything was amazing! KJ, our server, was very attentive and professional. The food was phenomenal, from drink to appetizers to entrees. We had NO room for dessert and even took home leftovers! We live here and enjoy Savant!

My steak was awesome! However, my wife’s lobster was overcooked and chewy. We brought it to the waitress’ attention and go said she’d get a new one. Come to find out that the lobster was ALL already precooked in the same batch earlier and not cooked to order so they would all be cooked the same. Very disappointing given the price and how long it took it to get our food. The triple layer chocolate cake was good. While we were there, an elderly couple at the table near ours ordered the pour over coffee with their dessert… the first time, they (the waitress) poured way too much water in so the cup over flowed on the table, when the waitress tried to clean it up, the coffee spilled everywhere getting hot coffee on the elderly lady. The second time, the bartender poured the water and still overflowed the cup but luckily they (bartender) left the small water pitcher there so they (the couple) was able to swap out the cup to catch the excess. It was quite the ordeal to watch.

Hands down - the best meal in the town! Everything is special about this place, the atmosphere, service - fast and polite, and especially food. We tried their lazy lobster, with previously ordered chargrilled calamari appetizer for the first time and their lamb chops for the other night.. - everything was absolutely delicious. Also, the wine cart there is impressive as well. Highly recommended dining experience on St. Croix!

The atmosphere is great. The rear courtyard is beautiful, a bit crowded but we asked to be moved inside and the personnel was really kind and helpful. The food was good but we waited a bit too much, maybe cause it was so crowded. Overall great ambiance to have a date.

WOW! Picture perfect AND great hospitality! The food exceeded any expectations, especially as vegans. I was impressed that our server was also vegan and could help with the menu. I celebrated my birthday here and thought it rained a lot on the inside it felt like an underwater treasure. This place is truly a beautiful gem. 5 star from me a highly detailed picky foodie where aesthetics and service matter. All the staff were kind genuine and thoughtful! Wine: California Zinfandel

The atmosphere was excellent. When you open the doors to go in it’s almost breathtaking. Very romantic. Would have liked complimentary bread and butter or bread with oil & vinegar. After delicious appetizer it was a 35 minute wait for our meal which was too long but was definitely worth the wait because food was superb.

If you are looking for ambience, this place is perfect. It is romantic and exotic. The staff are professional and attentive. I ordered the curry bowl and returned. Not because it was nasty but it was just had too sweet flavor for my liking. I wish i could rate my salad separately because it was DELICIOUS. I really wanted to order another one. My husband had the filet mignon and found it tough and just tasted like beef, not seasoned. Due to the price point, I wouldnt recommend this place because neither of us liked our entrees. For drinks and appetizers, I think this place is fine.

Google
WOW! Wish i could give this place a million stars. The service was incredible, every single person was so friendly. The environment was one of a kind and the structure was just breathe taking. Chad was phenomenal and so friendly, could not have asked for a better waiter. Wish I was here longer I would come back again, and again. Loved this place and would totally recommend. (Pictures are of the lobster special, and the duck which is on the menu annually).

Yelp
This restaurant was one of the best that we visited. I had a dizzy jewel drink, if you are a gin drinker you might like it. The best item was the lobster egg rolls!!! It deserved all three exclamation points. The vibe is so nice! It's dimly lit, jazz music, friendly bartender. I always say that but who wants to sit at a bar and order a drink from a rude person

Yelp
When Marjan and I travel, we search as many sites as we can find, searching for most recommended restaurants. Savant was among the handful that were highly recommended in St. Croix. The restaurant is found in Christiansted, parking behind the restaurant, unpaved lot. There are two entrances to the restaurant, one for entering the patio dining area, the entry for this area adjacent to the parking lot. Should the guest elect indoor seating, the entrance is found on the main entrance on Hospital Street. Reservations were highly recommended, and we preferred the patio, but as we dined on a Monday evening, we noticed several empty tables and one couple was seated without reservation. The restaurant is of older construction, typical of much in the city. The patio walls are of natural, uncut rock, cemented in place, covered with ivy and other flora. Think "grotto look" to the patio. Over the area is a fabric "parachute" sheltering the dining and bar from the elements. There is no air conditioning, but for our visit, heat and humidity were not an issue. The floor is of cement, the tables and chairs of wrought iron. Lighting is muted, soft music playing over speakers, the ambience cozy. We were immediately seated at our reserved time, and after a moment or two, our waitress offered choice of tap water, bottled water or carbonated water. We passed on appetizers, and Marjan selected the special wahoo, my choice the mahi offering. The offered sides were, as expected, delicious vegetables. But Marjan's wahoo entree was frankly, a disappointment. This fish is somewhat firm by nature, but her dish was sadly overcooked, chewy and dry. The portion of my mahi was moist and tender, easily the better of the two entrees. But we thought both dishes somewhat lacking in seasoning, and skimpy on sauce. We paired our dinner with glasses of White Haven and Pine Ridge. We found ourselves on the horns of a dilemma, discussing our rating of Savant. We were torn between 3 and 4. We always enjoy outdoor seating, and the courtyard offered a pleasing, romantic ambience. The staff was appropriately attentive, and our waitress very knowledgeable of the menu. But reviews had been lavish in praise of the offerings, and we had a different experience. Perhaps other menu items would be stellar, but we probably would not return mindful of price to value issues.

Yelp
Was very happy to be able to get in as a walk-in party of 2 (wouldn't recommend trying - call ahead!) We found the value to be much lower than the price. Expensive drinks, none of which we would go back for. The ahi tuna wonton chips were good but wish it had some avocado or jalapeño or something to add to the flavor a bit. The Asian noodles (would not call them lo-mein noodles...more like a wheat udon style) were tasty in a coconut broth but for $12 extra we got about 5 small pieces of chicken added to it. The cassava mahi was very much lacking in flavor, even with the coconut rice. Needed a vegetable or something. Great atmosphere, decent service, and the owners onsite but would likely not splurge here again. Maybe we ordered all the wrong things because many locals walking out / sitting at the bar were raving about the food.

Yelp
Made our reservation for 7pm, they let us in early and had no trouble. Our waiter was nice and he came by several times through out the meal. I enjoyed the restaurant looks we sat in the outside portion. I ordered the stuffed filet and it was very good! Would definitely recommend. Other members of our party had the pork chop, I tried that and it was very good as well.

Yelp
This place is a secret garden oasis with incredible foodie-level fine dining, impeccable service and ambience galore!

Yelp
Pro: Blink and you'll miss this hidden gem! Nestled away on Hospital Street as one leaves downtown Christiansted traveling east is a wonderful little place called Savant. It is certainly not the typical fare encountered on the Christiansted waterfront. And it is certainly not the local fare you find "where most islanders eat". No, Savante is different. It takes in-season local ingredients, adds a continental flare, and wows the diner with every bite! As one relaxes in the dim "date night" ambiance, one can lose themselves in the chargrilled Calamari, double-cut pork chop, rack of lamb, red snapper, and whatever specials they switch up the menu with. ALL ARE AMAZING! Con: Blink and you'll miss the place. I suppose food this good doesn't need to advertise! Bottom Line: Perfect for an island date night, intimate small gathering, or any occasion that requires great food and service.

Yelp
Great food, service and helpings. The atmosphere was romantic.A definite must try. I wish there was more ventilation in the courtyard dining room during hot evenings.

Yelp
I took my parents to Savant tonight for their 56th wedding anniversary. This restaurant had good reviews online so chose this spot for our celebration. We had reservations and were seated right away upon arrival. Our server, Yvette, was friendly, professional, and charming. She took good care of us. We didn't order appetizers, we went straight for the main course. Our food came out in a timely manner. This restaurant is like a hole in the wall. The inside gives the feel of a rustic quaint French restaurant. It feels welcoming and has a beautiful ambiance. There is an outdoor courtyard dining area that also has a marvelous ambiance. We ordered Cassava Crusted Mahi, Churrasco Beef Short Ribs, New Zealand Rack of Lamb, and Chicken Savant Noodle Bowl. The Mahi was crisp, moist and flavorful; the coconut rice tasted good and was cooked well. The beef ribs and lamb were tender, moist, and delicious. All dishes were good but the chicken Savant noodle bowl was our least favorite. The chicken Savant bowl didn't have a balanced noodles to chicken ratio. It tasted okay but had a weird smell to it. The desserts were awesome! We ordered a slice of chocolate cake, rum cake, and coconut cream pie with toasted pecans. They were great portions and very tasty. This restaurant is pricey though, so you will pay moderately for all items ordered. I was especially surprised at the cost of the desserts; it was $15 per dessert. That caught me off guard. The ambiance and food along with the service received from Yvette made this visit worth it for us. My parents really enjoyed this experience.

Yelp
Savant is a neighborhood gem! The food and service were fantastic. I will absolutely visit on my next trip to St. Croix.

Yelp
Small and quaint restaurant and bar with a somewhat limited but interesting menu. A few vegetarian options pair with lots of seafood. Prices are high-ish, but so is the rest of STX. With an app, main dish and drink, expect to spend $100 per person. Staff is attentive and wine list is good. Ambience is intimate. Reservations are recommended, but our party of 4 was able to walk in on a weekday evening and get seated immediately.

Yelp
Really good food. Nice cozy setting. Great service. Good place to enjoy a quiet evening.

Yelp
This has to be the best tasting food i have ever had. The service is out of this world and I want to eat there every time I visit St Croix.
google avatar

Yelp
Super hidden but awesome fine dine place. Very unique ambience with separate areas. Instant favorite! Everything is good in this place and the service is on point. I don't like chicken but I was told I had to have their chicken lollipops and that was correct. Very crispy, and tasteful. I went with the lemon butter lobster and it was fresh and great. So was the calamari and the snapper. The hazelnut pie is like a mousse/cheesecake. Very tasty. I got another one to go and ate it in the morning straight from the refrigerator and it was even better. The coconut rum cake was very good although I didn't taste any rum and it was very sweet. I will be going back!

Yelp
Great ambiance, friendly staff, great service and large portions. This place is a diamond in the rough! The food was excellent and delicious!

Yelp
Food magnificent!!! Service spot on!!! Drinks...just right!!! No, mosquitos and temperature just right!!! It's a Goldie-Locks Story!!!

Yelp
One of the best restaurants in Christiansted. Pro Tip! Book their outdoor space. The patio is protected from the elements, has a great outdoor bar and is a beautiful location to enjoy their excellent menu. Try the lobster egg rolls! Absolutely make sure Savant is on your list when visiting!

Amy W.

Yelp
One of our favorite places for dinner on the island - with my absolute favorite dish "Lazy Lobster." Positively scrumptious! The staff is always fun and attentive and the food is excellent. We enjoy eating upstairs in the dining room when we want to be cool, but nothing beats the grotto-like bar and dining room "downstairs." Savant - please never change!

Yelp

Yelp
Food was great. Fresh food and amazing ambiance. The staff were friendly and very accommodating.

Yelp
Savant is excellent! I first visited this restaurant around 15 years ago. Back then, I thought it was the best in St Croix. That may still be true today. The atmosphere is rustic Caribbean. Much of the dining area is outside in a shaded outdoor patio. They have amazing food (as you can see from the pics) with some very creative menu selections. I had the curry encrusted Mahi and a salad. Presentation and taste were top notch. In addition, the service is just as good as the food. The server made sure my drink was always full and food came out promptly. Overall: Highly recommended. If I am in St. Croix and have time to come here, I will.

Yelp
ambiance is great. we sat outside. food was really good. service was busy but we didn't feel neglected.

Yelp
When we (as a family) look at the restaurants, we look at service and food. Neither shined this night. Service was bad, it was 25+ minutes until the waiter came to us and another 10+ until our wine made to the table. If we weren't with two teenagers who eat every 1.5 hours, we would have left the restaurant with $10 on the table for the water. Once the waiter got our order and food came, the food portion of the review starts. The appetizers were good (even though I felt they needed more pepper). The main courses were hit and miss- my son was served too little food, my fish was dry, my other son's steak was ok ("I've had better steak at home"). To finish it off, we got overcharged for my wife's entree - yes it was only $2, but I'm pretty sure the other entrées were high as they were listed as market price on the menu. It's too bad as the place was recommended by multiple people.

Yelp
Came here last week for the second time and it was just as amazing as it was four years ago! They have a really nice wine selection. A bunch of wines you mostly can't find in USA on wine lists. Staff was amazing. Super attentive, friendly and professional. We shared the calamari, mahi egg rolls and mahi ceviche for appetizer. All were so delicious but for me the stand out was the ceviche - SO FRESH!! All the fish we got was caught fresh from local waters. Our customer who is a local asked the waiter about who caught the fish and he knew the exact person , so cool! For my meal I shared the lobster with one other person and it was out of this world tender. The portion was huge (hence why we shared) and included asparagus and mashed potatoes over the most delicious sauce. HIGHLY recommend. My colleagues enjoyed their lobsters too (5 of us got it) and one loved the bone in pork chop. This place has to be my favorite in st Croix. call ahead for reservations. There's indoor and outdoor (in beautiful back garden area) seating, thank you savant!! Ps - go birds!!
google avatar

Yelp
Savant is easily one of the most unique and atmospheric restaurants on STX. I was blessed to order the Mahi eggrolls as my appetizer and the Rack of Lamb for my entrée. For the entirety of my meal my eyes were rolling into the back of my head. It was fantastic. Unfortunately, the pie that we ended the night on was not to my liking. I wished that I hadn't had any desert at all so as to hold on to the joy of my meal. Regardless, I love this place, and next time I'm on the island I will be going here once more.
google avatar

Jeff P.

Yelp
Hard to find. Small sign. Lovely old look inside. Excellent service. Only eat there once but both colleague and I enjoyed the food. We both had fish for main course. Lightly cooked with great subtle flavours.

Lesley C.

Yelp
Food was great and the ambience was nice but it was overpriced and the service was pretty slow.
google avatar

Ange F.

Yelp
Such a delicious meal and exceptional service. I got the filet mignon and my husband got the brick chicken. the meals were so good!

Deborah E.

Yelp
A St. Croix, regular stop. Always can depend on a good meal here. not very attractive from the outside, but charming in the courtyard and in the dining area. Well worth the trip.
google avatar

Tj S.

Yelp
Food was amazing and service was on point. Was exceptionally happy with the whole experience until I witnessed what I can only assume was the manager yelling and belittling our waitress. He was extremely unprofessional and yelled at her in the middle of a full restaurant and created a scene. Ruined the entire night for us. The young girl was doing a great job so not sure what it was about but we felt sorry and embarrassed for her. 5 stars for everything except that rude manger, negative stars for that negative unhappy man.
google avatar

Lisa B.

Yelp
We never got to the food because the smell was so bad. We chose to eat inside because of the heat but it smelled moldy and musty. We left.
google avatar

Nick M.

Yelp
We enjoyed the atmosphere the courtyard is a nice place to see and eat some good food. The cassava crusted fish of the day was delicious. We had key lime pie for dessert and it was one of the best we ever had. My blind grandfather could see that Mike was a knowledgeable and attentive server and we appreciated him for his service. Although he did burn the kitchen down a couple times but what can you do? He was blind. Next time we are on the island we will visit Wish the the chair was a recliner but that's a personal preference. All in all great job. Our woodford old fashioneds were a little too sweet but not an issue. The food did come before the drinks and we did not receive water until after we had our drinks. Not major issues but things to point out to make someone else's experience better. 5 stars because the food was that good.

Yelp
Our first "night out" on St. Croix and this is where we landed! Recommended by friends who tried but were unsuccessful at getting a reservation, this place was worth the challenge it took for us to get there (staying at Carambola and the taxi situation is horrendous). We were late to our reservation but still had to wait for our table...just goes to show that folks were enjoying their meals so much that they didn't want to leave. Anyhoo. The wait staff was eclectic and eccentric and only added to the fact that we were seated in this grotto-like, multi level courtyard that was both rustic and elegant all at the same tine. The food was well worth any wait: short ribs that melted in my mouth (gnocchi was ok - it was just sitting in an au jus concoction that seemed out of place) and the potstickers that were crispy and delicate made me roll my eyes back in my head! My husband!'s ceviche could have used a little squeeze of citrus to brighten but it was fresh and flavorful. The lobster on the surf & turf seemed tough as he pulled it from its shell but was amazingly tender and delicious when he bit into it and it had just the right char. Dessert was a spiced rum cake that reminded me of the rum cakes my mom used to make: buttery and moist. Could have used a little more rum but, it was good just the same. Fantastic place for a couple or couples to enjoy... I wouldn't bring children, but that's just me.

Cor P.

Yelp
Ambiance and food are amazing! Jameson is a great bartender! Food is pricey but worth every cent.
google avatar

Chris S.

Yelp
Options to eat inside or outside on the terrace. The regular menu and the specials are terrific. One night I had the local wahoo. It was perfect. Another night the braised short ribs were equally amazing. Swordfish was also delicious. New York strip was okay. The Bibb lettuce salad and the arugula salad were delicious. A top notch list of wines by the glass. I'm running out of superlatives. Service is usually friendly, attentive, quick. I highly recommend Savant and expect to be here often.
google avatar

Felicia M.

Yelp
We have visited St Croix for 5 years, and Savant is always on our list of places to eat. We have always had great meals, and great service! The outdoor courtyard offers fantastic ambiance!
google avatar

Yelp
The best food and service I had all trip!! This is a must stop. Make a reservation though! I loved the Filet!

Yelp

Yelp
sit in the patio at night. magical. great specials and great food. great service too. my favorite place for a little upscale highlight.
google avatar

Monica N.

Yelp
Definitely a cute and romantic spot - food was good but you really come here for the ambience. I feel like this place may have been better pre-COVID, and it was still really delicious but not stellar. Service was also very friendly and professional. We sat outside in the back courtyard which was dimly lit. Wahoo Fish: Delicate and tender as expected, served on a bed of rice and asparagus. Seared Tuna: Cooked just medium rare, this was pretty fresh and went well with the sweet potatoes and peas. The outside was a bit salty on some sections though, not that evenly seasoned. Chai Cheesecake: This was DELICIOUS. It's a denser type of cheesecake, but the chai flavor was very unique. Wish the crust was a bit thicker though!

James L.

Yelp
Wonderful little hideaway just east of downtown. Friendly staff and wonderful meal last night.
google avatar

Brad S.

Yelp
From start to finish this place really killed it!! Went to all 3 of the usvi and me and my girlfriend thought this meal was hands down the best! The service was great and the food even better. The ambiance was subpar to none, we sat in the back outdoor/indoor area and weren't disappointed at all. We had the beef short ribs and the bacon wrapped double cut pork chop, WOW! Even the black coffee was great, cool drip coffee set up that also tasted great. Plenty of parking for all restaurant guests right at the restaurant, and if you've been to Christiansted before you know how tough parking can be, no other restaurants down there really have there own parking. Very very pleased and hope to return here!

Yelp
My husband surprised me with a trip to St. Croix for my 50th birthday and had made reservations at Savant to celebrate my special day. He got SO many points for this one! The restaurant is small and we almost missed it, passing the little sign on the outside of the front. You can sit inside or outside in the courtyard. I suggest outside, it's where the locals sit and the fun people are. The ambiance is rustic, but elegant in a way. I couldn't decide on a cocktail, so I asked the bartender, Jameson (I'm not sure he spells his name this way, but well, he's a bartender, soooo...), to make me a special cocktail commemorating my 50th birthday. He did not disappoint! All I know is that it had Bumbi rum in it and it was delicious!! I'm going to suggest it be put on the menu and be called the "Glo 50"! My husband ordered the Duck Two Ways and he said it was the best duck he's ever had. I got the Stuffed Filet with the Jack Daniels Oyster Sauce. Let me tell y'all....when I say if I could've bottled that sauce up and snuck onto my carryon bag, I would've! I'd put that stuff on ice cream! My fillet was actually a tad overcooked, but was still so flavorful and tender, it melted in my mouth (and I'm from Texas - I KNOW good steak!). Yvette was our waitress and was excellent with her service and suggestions. If you're booking a trip to St. Croix, make a reservation at Savant before you even get on the plane! Say hi to Jameson and Yvette for me!
google avatar

Karen M.

Yelp
Had a group of friends eat here. In my opinion the food was alright, I had the wagoo special, my friends had the seafood pasta, lamb chops and streak. My plate tasted very simplistic, I was not impressed, not what I expected from this place. My friends lamb was under cook...he didn't even touch it. No one seems to be impressed with their food. Ambience is there, but a little to expensive for what was served.
google avatar

Brandy C.

Yelp
We were so hoping that this restaurant would be amazing but it (unfortunately) fell short of our expectations. We made a reservation here for our honeymoon and we're disappointed. We ordered a drink from the cocktail list that included premium liquor (which fell short) only to later find out from our waitress that they never had the premium liquor and instead used well. Service was hit or miss - We had to wave down our waitress after waiting 15 minutes to place a drink order. The specials weren't adequately described (we ordered fettuccini lobster - which when delivered was actually a version of pad Thai described as teriyaki lobster) needless to say not what we were expecting. No dessert menu offered (or any treat for our honeymoon reservation - made sure to tell them in advance) and an overall letdown. If you are looking for overpriced and underdelivered frill - this is the place. Genuine service, flavor, and quality.... I'd look elsewhere.
google avatar

Angela C.

Yelp
The wine list and service were top notch, but both our dishes--from the specials menu--were disappointing. Bison osso buco was incredibly tough and had been seared in a pan with fish, so all that came through was burnt fish. The pan seared Mahi was tough and dry, served with overcooked, cold broccolini and basic white rice. Overall, an expensive mediocre meal.

Yelp
We have been coming to the island for years, and finally decided to try Savant after hearing how amazing it was from multiple people. This is our new FAVORITE restaurant on the island, especially since Keith and Jewel took such great care of our every need. They made our experience unforgettable. The food was outrageous! We can't wait to come back!
google avatar

Gerville L.

Yelp
Great personal service beyond what is expected. Intimate and elegant without being fussy. Eateries on St. Croix are gifted in making you feel always connected which isn't always the case with experiences from someone as well traveled as I am.
google avatar

Yelp
Incredible!! My boyfriend and I made a reservation here for 6pm on a Tuesday evening and I'm so glad we did. The service was outstanding, food was delicious and the atmosphere was so romantic. We had the grilled calamari for an appetizer and ordered a bottle of wine. For three main meal, I had one of the daily specials which was a curry mahi with rice and it was easily one of the best mahi entrees that I have ever had!! My boyfriend had one of the other specials which was rack of lamb and he absolutely loved it! The portions were the perfect size and we both left feeling full and satisfied. Our waitresses, Bree, was so sweet! She was friendly, attentive and gave us some awesome local tips for the island. Thanks, Bree!! It is a little bit expensive here but it's the Virgin Island so it is to be expected. Also a reservation is definitely needed.
google avatar

Carole L.

Yelp
Very disappointing! Our family had an amazing meal here last year and couldn't wait to dine here again on our last evening on St. Croix. From the get go things went awry. When I made the reservation 2 days before I spoke with the owner, Tom, and attempted to pre- order 2 baked lobster dinners. He told me he couldn't guarantee it since the people that supply the lobsters were off island. When we arrived and asked about it we were told they sold out earlier in the evening. My husband was very disappointed and said the owner said he would reserve two if he had them. Our waiter, Keith, said he was very sorry, that Tom was not in and he'd like to make right by giving us a free dessert and appetizer. The four of us all ordered from the Specials menu which clearly described each dish. We asked for one substitution of sauce and starch. Our meals arrived the sauce and starch were NOT substituted. When asked the server said "Oh the kitchen said there were no substitutions on the Specials." That should have been made clear when the order was taken to the kitchen, not when the meal is brought to the table. Our son kept looking at his plate and the Specials board 15 feet away. The vegetable and starch were not what was described on the board. When we asked about it, the server came back and said he was very sorry that there was miscommunication with the kitchen. They were out of some of the dish components. Again, that should have been immediately made clear when the order reached the kitchen. To add insult to injury, the closest tables to us all had the correct SAME dishes as described on the Specials sign. We spoke to the "acting manager " he shrugged, denied any problem and said that our server agreed to take 30% off the order and offered a courtesy dessert. They never offered to replace the dish or bring us what we ordered. I'm 60 years old and have NEVER been treated so poorly at a restaurant, and a pricey one at that. This was inexcusable. (What if you have allergies or diet restrictions and your meal comes out totally wrong with no excuse?") These we're $50 a plate dishes or there about. We we're terribly disappointed!!! We will never return and hope this review turns you off to going to Savant!
