I had such an incredible experience here shopping for jewelry! The store owner is amazing and was so helpful in picking out pieces. I can’t wait to come back.

Google
What an incredibly rude lady. I was so excited to do some western vintage shopping while in Nashville. There were some really cool items but when the only first thing I picked up she took at out of my hands and told me it wasn’t for sale and that it was too expensive anyway. I then asked about bolo ties and was told they were too expensive as well and never showed them to me. I was just left standing there.

If rude had a place to be... it would be here. Being rude to someone asking a simple question is just mean. I wouldn't step in here based off the staff for any reason. I don't care how "cool" their overpriced vintage stuff is. I was really put off by the staff and their snotty response.

SHE STOLE MY MONEY. I bought two cups, $30 each. So $60 total. I checked my bank account later, and she charged me $655.50. Do not shop here.

Google
Staple of 12th South. Eclectic collection of hand picked items. Love love love Miss Uma and her wonderful store. Have purchased several items from here and will always come back for more.

Google
Read the reviews , thought this place was going to be a disaster but I wanted to see for myself. I had such a wonderful conversation and experience with the owner, don’t let these people stop you from coming in!! I love a lot of the clothes and taxidermy animals on the wall :) real vintage for sure!!! (P.s it’s very normal in the south for thrift stores to be closed or have off hours Monday-Wednesday lol)

Google
What a terrible experience! 3 professional friends went in and about to buy three vintage jackets and the owner RUDELY came over and yelled at us for trying jackets on, took them away, and said “you aren’t going to buy.” What a judgmental and miserable person. Won’t make that mistake again!

McKenzie Horne

Google
Terrible experience. Owner extremely abrasive and rude. She asked me “have you been drinking? You smell like alcohol.” Would 10/10 not recommend. Who even asks that to a customer…. Weird.

Yelp
Nice pieces of clothing, but extremely high priced. Not in my budget unfortunately. Not sure if prices are negotiable, but worth a try

Yelp
We went in excited to shop but this lady asked us where we were from and then proceeded to berate us from being from California. We aren't moving to Nashville, lady. We were just here to spend our dollars in your city. Everyone in Nashville has been great. Except this lady and I hope people don't support her.

Robert W.

Yelp
This is a overpriced thrift store at absolute best. I live in the area and would go to the store occasionally until the very rude owner told me that if I wasn't buying I wasn't welcome. I believe she was rude to me primarily because I pointed out a 2.99 Goodwill tag she missed on a t-shirt that she had priced for 45.00.

Yelp
Walked in. Prices too high. Farted. Then left. IN THIS ECONOMY...No sir-ree Bobby Gene. My wallets heart skipped beat. If you decide to adventure inside the wonderful world of SaVANT vintage...just remember what I told ya...hop skip and a fart right out that door. Btw I'm from California.

Yelp
Damn this shi spensive I go in there lookin for some nice drip. But $200 for a shirt... bruh.

Yelp
Holy crap, this was the most exorbitantly priced vintage store I've ever visited. Giving two stars instead of one because the sticker shock alone is worth the visit. Secondly, there are a ton of ratty taxidermy animals that make for a funny photo. First off, the collection of clothes is not at all curated. I've been to some flea markets/ thrift stores where the items are overpriced but one-of-a-kind. This was goodwill junk. A couple of items were a little fun or funky, but my friend inquired about a fuzzy blue jacket that was marked at $1200(!!) A simple (ugly) tshirt was marked at $175, random dusty pins and patches were marked at $20...it was truly appalling. The woman working was the only person I met in Nashville who wasn't extraordinarily nice, and at one point when I was there I heard a small thud and she definitely indirectly accused me of knocking something over. Cannot imagine in a million years why I'd ever be compelled to buy something here.
google avatar

Yelp
Thought traffic to separate times to try and visit this vintage store. Maps said it was open, but nobody was there. Tried calling the phone number, it's disconnected. Would really just like to check out some cool things and haven't been given the opportunity.

Yelp
wow.. i try to give benefit of the doubt for people, but when i read reviews from other people with very similar experiences (and even from my mother), i have to speak up. after i complimented a beautiful dress, the owner asked me where i am from. didn't even say hello to either of us, just asked where i'm from. when i told her california, and she said "don't move here." sense a pattern here? i'm sorry but if you can't be nice to patrons, you shouldn't own a business. you're complaining about people moving here when you're not even from here yourself--you're from missouri! i feel like she's scoping people out just to get a chance to be make them feel bad. just overall bad vibes over there and i will tell anyone i know who appreciates vintage stores to avoid this business!! overpriced everything too. i can find way better, for a better price, and definitely better customer service.

Rachel W.

Yelp
Tried out this shop despite the reviews and I hate to say the one star reviews were correct. Every person in Tennessee has been so nice but this was the absolute worst experience of our whole trip. This place should be shut down. I have no idea how the owner has her own business by the way she treated us and others at the store. Not to mention the overpriced basic goods. I am shocked the 12 South District allows this store to be in business. Disgusting
google avatar

Olivia P.

Yelp
The older woman, who seemed to be either the owner or manager of the store, responded rudely when I complimented her shop. After expressing my admiration, she asked, "Where are you from?" When I mentioned California, she dismissively said, "Don't move here." Despite my friendly intentions, her response was quite impolite. If you're from California, I wouldn't recommend visiting this store. Ps. Republicans live in California too (Orange County) and you just dissed me. I would have spent a lot of money in your store if you were nice to your customers!

Susan S.

Yelp
I looked at the reviews before I came here and now I completely understand what everyone is saying. I walked in and instead of a "Hello" or "Welcome" the owner immediately said "Where are you coming from". I told her I'm from Missouri and live in Tennessee now and proceeded to walk through the store. It really was such a strange way to be "greeted" and made the vibe of this store unwelcoming. I honestly would have rather walked in and her say nothing to me, that probably would have made me feel better than that encounter lol. The clothes are INSANELY overpriced. To the point where it made me wonder how she is in business still. I was looking at a camo long sleeve shirt, not in the best condition and probably from Goodwill from what it looked like and it was $65. I go to thift stores and vintage stores all this is BY FAR the most expensive store I have ever been to. Disappointing experience. I love supporting small businesses and shopping local, but this experience would never bring me back here nor would I recommend this place to anyone.
google avatar

Tatiana S.

Yelp
The owner is SO rude. She will ask you if you're local or visiting. She's asked me this on both occasions I've visited. And if you're from anywhere other than TN, she will rant about how everyone moving here is ruining TN. She will literally tell you that you need to leave. DO NOT WASTE YOUR ENERGY OR MONEY (especially your money.) Or if you are in a fighting mood, tell owner behind the counter you're from out of town and have at it! Good luck!
google avatar

Yelp
The owner of this shop helped me get on my feet again after some traumatic experiences. She hired me when no one else would and still remains a motherly figure to me 8 years later. If you don't like her it's probably cuz you were rude to her and she didn't take your crap, which is totally acceptable in today's world!! Treat her nicely and she will do the same :). She also works her ass off finding vintage pieces all over Nashville every day and ENSURES the authenticity of the items.

Allison M.

Yelp
It could be a cool place but the lady that was working there asked if we were from CA. We asked her why?? She said that people from CA look down their noses and was very rude. We turned around and left.

Billy S.

Yelp
If you do not believe in hate and ignorance then I recommend shopping elsewhere. The owner greeted us by asking where we were from and we answered California. Without missing a beat, she harshly told us not to think about it. The implication was that since we were from California, we should not move to Tenn. I understand people are heated over politics but that should remain in one's personal life or at minimum not display such ignorance or prejudice at work. I am glad that I don't live by anyone that is so hateful.
google avatar

Alicia C.

Yelp
Savants amazing. The store has an assortment of antique, political buttons, old flags, vintage, NFL sweatshirts NBA I even saw a Trevor Hoffman signed padres shirt. There's also tea cups and old Bibles and old dictionary's and I think I'm looking at a vintage Bible from long ago.
google avatar

Laurie G.

Yelp
Very cool vintage pieces. Each room has a lot to take in. Beautiful, well curated space.

Maddy M.

Yelp
For anyone from out of state who is visiting 12South for cute boutique shopping don't waste your time or money here. We walked in and politely said "hello, how are you today?" to which the hag behind the counter responded "where are you from?" We told her California and her response was "you know what we tell people from California? Don't move here." Thanks for the kind welcome. And don't worry, we won't, because if we ended up as neighbors it wouldn't end well. Overpriced items...an Albert Pujols Dodgers Tee Shirt for 70 dollars? A half stained blue jacket for 350? Get real. Take your business to Vinnie and Louise or White's Mercantile down the street instead. This woman was incredibly rude to my mom, and had I heard her she would have seen another side of California. She's lucky she didn't, because we talk a different way that I know for a fact her loud mouth isn't ready for. Will never be back, even after I move here!!! ;)

Eunice P.

Yelp
As others have stated, the owner was rude and condescending to us, asking where we came from. When we said "California," she said our governor is the one burning down our state, and the influx of new residents is terrible. She said that at least the bachelorettes spend money and leave, and she can't stand the slew of new stores with crap that's "made in China." I'm Asian American by the way. Clearly she doesn't want our money, so we didn't spend any.

Samantha L.

Yelp
LOLing at the other reviews so I had to add my story as well. I'm a huge fan of vintage and was so excited to check this store out. I asked the owner for help bringing down a fur coat and on right on queue she asked me where i was from, i tell her i just moved here from California and before letting me even finish my sentence that i wasnt from there (not that it should even matter!) shes huffing and puffing that i should be embarrassed. I asked her where shes from and she told me Alabama which is hilarious only because she seems to be giving people different answers. To throw salt in the wound she asked what town i moved to and i tell her and she tells me how basic that was of me. I will say i think she could tell i was frazzled by the experience and eventually asked where i was actually from and that i should say that and she apologized but felt like she had to break people in. It was a genuinely bizarre and rude experience.

Yelp
Beware! Owner changes prices of the items you bring up to the counter! Pathetic! She actually peeled off the price tag from a casserole dish I was going to buy and marked it up 500% right in front of me! I even offered her a closer price than she went up to but she refused the sale! Needless to say, we walked ... she's losing much more that her $$ in that poor example of business ownership.

Yelp
When in Nashville, you must thrift. If you hate thirifting you may still like this little house full of vintage treasures. It is so interesting to go back in time and see that Nashville style play out in its old and grungy way in this cool store. They have everything from old dishes and trinkets, to that 1980's jean jacket your dad had. There are taxidermy animals, cowboy boots, army wear and vintage tee shirts. They also had some vintage looking printed tees that were made newly for the store that said Nashville in that weathered way that is trendy in this city. I just found this story so fun to walk through. I didn't buy anything but I will definitely be back the next time I am in town to see what treasures I can find. So cool. :)
google avatar

Renee S.

Yelp
I always enjoy this unique shop. Never see the same thing twice. I have purchased vintage western shirts here. It's one of my " gotta go there " spots when in Nashville.

Ellen P.

Yelp
I'm giving this dump a single star because I cant do a negative star. This store ruins the 12 south district in Nashville. I can't imagine why anyone would allow any of the nasty overpriced clothing to touch their body. My wife and I went in the store out of curiosity and left completely dismayed as to how this place can stay in business. The owner, who we mistook for a homeless woman, was very rude. Two of the terribly high priced items were clearly purchased from a goodwill store. My suggestion to anyone thinking of spending money in this store is to wait and spend the money at a goodwill. You will pay less for better items and help out the less fortunate by shopping at goodwill!!!!!

Yelp
I'm trying to reach the owner of this shop about a Fox and a picture frame I paid for that she promised to ship to me. It's been a few weeks and I can't get an answer any time I call the store. Really hoping there has been a misunderstanding but it's about $300 worth of goods I paid for and have yet to receive. Please contact me

Yelp
This little house is overflowing with nostalgia. Curated with a clever eye and pure abandon. I can't wait to go back and get serious about digging in. This is one you don't want to miss.

Laura P.

Yelp
Terrible. The shop is ok- overpriced and nothing special. There's a piece of wood out front that looks like a bench. My 70 year old father sat on it and it immediately tipped over and tossed him into a cactus. After he got up, covered in cactus spines and bleeding, we saw barely visible writing on the bench that said "do not sit." My sister went inside to find tweezers and the shop owner said "someone sat on the bench didn't they." So clearly this happens often (the owner said it's been there for 5 years) and they leave both the bench and the cactus there. Then the shop owner came outside and blamed my father for sitting on the bench. No empathy, no asking if he was ok. Avoid.

Yelp
We wanted to go but the number listed was non working and several people in the area said to be sure and call first because it's not uncommon for it to be closed all day or even early. We were also told that the prices are kind of ridiculous. This is based on locals in the area so it didn't seem to be a favorite amongst the community.

Yelp
Not to be dramatic but I actually struggled on how many stars to give Savant Vintage Couture. I kept leaning towards 2 stars due to the waaaaaaay overpriced cost of much of the inventory in stock ($255 for a white Frederick's of Hollywood jumpsuit from the 70's?) and the slightly abrasive and curt owner who felt it was necessary to advise my friend and I that her shop "carries REAL vintage" and not the kitsch that we are accustomed to. Oh, really? Thanks so much for that. I personally have no experience with Fashion nor do I have a closet full of vintage apparel and accessories. (hello, snark.) However, I decided on 3 stars as I will give her credit for her amazing eye for beautiful vintage gems which stocked this house converted to boutique on 12 Avenue. I perused through the multiple rooms filled with sumptuous fabrics and unique relics. Much of it was in stellar condition and were pieces that I would have loved to add to my collection but the inflated prices prohibited that on this trip. I have to point out that the male sales associate who was working the floor was very charming and a highlight to the trip. He was certainly customer service savvy and counteracted the owner's sometimes awkward behavior. He proceeded to help us pull looks from the 70's era that would fit into our Boogie Nights party theme. Kudos for the layout and merchandising with interesting inventory but unless the price points are reconsidered and the owner decides to take the attitude down a notch, I won't be a client of Savant Vintage Couture anytime soon. TIP: You may inquire about renting the merchandise which she quoted as being 25% of the retail price of an item.
google avatar

Cari P.

Yelp
Very cool but pricey vintage accessories, clothes, boots jackets, lamps, tchotchkes and more! Sweet owner but very proud prices. Not gonna find a deal here.
google avatar

Christine M.

Yelp
Terrible customer service, not just neglectful but RUDE. I had a feeling like they didn't even want me in the shop. I said hi to a sales associate and she looked at me in confusion. She also shut off the light on me as I was looking through the racks - - mind you this is 1 PM in the afternoon and it's dark and dingy in there. That's too bad because I was excited to spend a lot of money there because I've heard great things about the vintage.

Stacey A.

Yelp
This store is a nasty thrift store at best! Almost all of the items come from Goodwill or yard sales. I looked at a item that was priced at 49.50 and it had a goodwill tag STILL on the bottom for 3.99. The owner is very rude and condescending. There was some old black paraphernalia in the store and I commented on it and her remark was "They don't care"! I will never go in that junk store again!!
google avatar

Jen L.

Yelp
First question the store owner asked us? How were we all related...um what? But it fit the kooky style of the store. There is a really nice selection of clothing, housewares and furniture. The prices were pretty good for the selection especially in this fancying up neighborhood. The store is really full so take your time perusing. I wasn't so into the clothes, but the accessories and the furniture were really fun. Worth a peruse if you're in the area. Might be a spot to avoid if you tend towards claustrophobic, but I've been in way tighter shops.
google avatar

Allison N.

Yelp
Massive selection of vintage stuff here. It can get a little pricey, so be prepared for that. The store itself looks pretty small from the outside, but appearances are definitely deceiving here. This place has two full floors of vintage wear from shoes to clothes and even some furniture. The owner was really nice and welcoming. She knew a lot about scouting out vintage finds and had an awesome selection. This place definitely has a greater selection than Local Honey and other vintage stores I've been to around town. I'd come back for sure, but only when my wallet was pretty full.
google avatar

Robin S.

Yelp
Hmmm...I am going to have to side with Ellen F. on this one. Savant's selection is pretty cool--definitely unique pieces, and I found several I would have loved to have owned, but not for $100+. And I had some issues with the sizes. I know that sizes these days are totally different than what they used to be, but I felt that everything was really large and nothing in that middle range. One issue I have with some "vintage" places is that everything is very costume-y. Not this one. It's actually wearable everyday! Moving on to accessories--now there are some VERY cool things in Savant. Again though, very pricey in my opinion. Now, I did see a pair of cowboy boots allegedly worn by Dolly Parton. WAY COOL. The price? Well above $400. As much as I love Dolly, I just couldn't spend that for some used boots that someone else (even Dolly) had already stuck their feet in. Plus who am I kidding they would not have fit me anyway! If you are a huge fan of vintage, chances are, you'll love this place. Just looking for some cool clothes? You'll probably still love it, but don't know if you'll want to spend the money.

Daniel R.

Yelp
The owner was super friendly and her dog was a sweetheart. Thanks again for having us in your place of business

Tom S.

Yelp
there must be something wrong with me, because i appear to be one of the few that loves the owner. been here twice. both times she was honest and raw. my kind of people.

Yelp
This is a whimsical second hand store. One would think you would find some great bargains or at the very least the staff would be interested in selling their merchandise. The opposite seems to be true. Sadly, it's grossly overpriced. A few days ago was my fourth visit. My first visit I found a few things I was interested in buying. I was given price quotes on all three. I called to organize purchasing a large and expensive item and suddenly it was no longer for sale. What? Bizarre. The second time I went back, I picked up another item I had been given a quote on, and suddenly it went up by $115 (in a matter of days). When I explained that wasn't the price I had originally been told, the gal became very snarky and said " different day". What the hell? Am I back in Los Angeles, these folks are light years from friendly. My recent visit, I notice all three items are still there. (it's been months) I look at the price tag on one of the items (the one that went up by $115) and it had been marked UP an additional $50. Clearly they don't want to sell it. I then proceeded to a smaller item and they had marked it UP another 50%. I offered cash for the original price and was once again met with a load of attitude and a snarky "no". Instead of shopping there now, I like to pop in just to have a giggle that the used stuff just sits there. At this point I would have spent over $2000. Instead, I've spent $0.
google avatar

Carmen J.

Yelp
Yep, this place now gets one star. Why? Because on two occasions in the past month, I've wanted to go and give it another chance. Both times, it was closed earlier than the 6PM closing sign. Savant, you're killing me.
google avatar

Yelp
Wow, we won't be back. Ever. Out shopping with my mother on a casual Sunday looking for interesting and unique items. Nicely arranged store with fantastic vintage wares in great condition. Prices are high but I made the fatal antique/vintage store assumption that she may interested in haggling (Did some one else mention she was?). I asked if the owner was interested in considering offers and she 1. Looked my mother and myself up and down 2. Asked where I worked and 3. Told us a story about a woman from New York that tried to haggle a $500 item down to $50 in her shop. After about five minutes of complaint about how many times she is asked to haggle in her 11 years of business, we left empty handed. A simple "No, I am not interested. Please pay the marked price." would have sufficed. TL;DR: Don't ask the owner if they are interested in haggling.
google avatar

Evan D.

Yelp
Potentially the stupidest store I've ever encountered. If you think the stock is 'curated' or whatever you're an idiot. Old rec league soccer jerseys from the early 90s for 45 bucks and Christian summer camp t-shirts from the late 90s for 35 bucks only sends one message -- buyer beware. Also there was no one around at all working there for the entire 10 minutes my wife and I were there . . . and it's not like it's a big place. I could have stolen hundreds of vintage t-shirts, thousands of dollars worth of it! What a complete joke
google avatar

Erika W.

Yelp
Been waiting outside for the store to re-open for 15 minutes! Wouldn't be a big deal if I didn't really need to buy a special gift in a hurry. Hopefully this will reach someone who can come back to the store to re-open. Thanks!!!!
google avatar

Ellen F.

Yelp
This is the saddest review I've read. C'mon, Nashville, Rise to the challenge! Ok. Savant is great. The rooms are filled with a large selection of vintage clothing and accessories in a variety of sizes. (If you are an extreme small or large size you might have trouble, though) . That being said, Savant is way, way, over priced. It is used clothing after all, and not designer at that. Granted, you are buying one of a kind clothing, but it is used after all and shouldn't be in the hundreds. For example, if getting a new vintage-looking coat is less expensive than getting a used, vintage one, there is little reason to buy the vintage one that has been on who-even-know's-body doing who-even-knows-what in the coat. This leads directly into my second negative point about Savant: the same items are for sale year after year. I think if the prices dropped some, there would be more circulation of what's available on the floor. and it would be worth your time to frequent the store. But if you spend some time and poke around, you can get some great finds for fair prices.
google avatar

Megan W.

Yelp
People can whine and complain all they want about pricing, but the woman who owns the store knows what she's talking about and I'm fairly certain she knows what something is worth. Duh, she has to do a markup on clothes, it's called MAKING A PROFIT. You have to do that to keep a business running! (P.S. You CAN haggle with her and if you have cash she'll give you a better deal.) If you're looking for excellent quality vintage clothing, I'd suggest you shop here. I've been to vintage stores nationally and worldwide and this is probably one of my favorites. Yeah, maybe the room to walk around between racks isn't what it is in a department store, but I don't care about that at all. I love old clothes and old buildings so having to be an extra bit careful to avoid bumping into something is just fine with me. Also, most of the authentic 'vintage' stores I've been to have pretty much the exact same type of setup. If you're a guy looking for a vintage leather coat, you need to go here. Savant has them in a wide array of colors (she even has a 'Members Only' section). Also, I found four jackets here that fit me about 97% perfectly (which is supremely rare for me in a vintage store), but I didn't buy any of them because I'm trying to save up for a trip later in the year. She has a wonderful selection of fur coats/shawls as well, including a cherry red rabbit fur coat! My mom walked out of here with a GORGEOUS white brocade coat that was in EXCELLENT condition; it looked like something that could have come from the 50s? My mother's friend ended up purchasing a divine salmon/rose Gucci leather jacket (mostly at our persuasion because she looked beautiful in it!) I found the woman who owned the store to be INCREDIBLY nice. She had the store open on Sunday (which she normally doesn't) because there were some guys doing some work on some part of the house, so she went ahead and opened the shop (thank goodness she did). We initiated conversation and she talked back; before I left she even asked me how I liked the store and said she'd love to see me come back in again (which I definitely will)

Yelp
Walking in this place is like digging around the set of That 70's Show. There are tons of neat old pieces well organized and placed throughout the store. The racks are set up by color so it is easier to target something that you like. On the downside, the store was a bit pricey. I found a few things that I liked, but I just didn't LOVE them enough to buy them at the listed price. The owner is super friendly and helpful and seems to have done well finding great pieces for her jam packed store

Yelp
Great store! I actually meet the owner . She has a killer eyes on vintage . She has a lot of interesting vintage items for men and women . I would highly recommend to visit this place. Actually a sales lady from another store told me to go visit this store . So I did and I am glad I did. Btw they are others stores in the area but this is the only vintage store in that particular location.

Yelp
I'm not sure where to start other than extremely over priced and was extremely disappointing. Lots of stained and damaged garments with VERY high prices. I pay high prices for vintage and collect Pucci and other high end vintage 60s couture clothing therefore I'm used to paying high prices, I'm not looking for deals in a store with cool vintage clothing but this store is way overpriced for its ambiance and its inventory. I think it's a waste of time and so did my friend who has a large collection of vintage clothing worth $250,000.
