Savoy Palace (Madeira, Portugal) 2 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Almost exactly a century after the opening of Madeira’s original Savoy hotel in 1918, the Savoy Palace was unveiled on the same spot on Funchal’s waterfront. Though it’s not a remodel — the old hotel was demolished — the new version channels the glamour and sophistication that drew aristocratic travelers from around Europe. There’s plenty of old-world allure here, from the swish marble lobby with romantic staircases to the gleaming grand piano and lavish floral arrangements in the bar. But the Savoy Palace is strikingly modern, too; instead of traditional chandeliers, the reception area features a massive suspended light installation, three stories tall and crafted from miles of matte metal chain." - Tablet Hotels

This Big, Luxurious Boutique Hotel Is Located on Portugal’s Most Underrated Island - Hotels Above Par - Boutique Hotels & Travel

"Located in Funchal, Madeira, this five-star Leading Hotels of The World property is a landmark with a distinctive curved glass façade and over 300 rooms spread across 15 floors, each with balconies and large windows that frame sweeping sea views. Designed by RH+ with interiors by Nini Andrade Silva, it feels like a glitzy, supersized boutique offering impeccable service and panoramic vantage points from its rooftop lounge, terraced gardens and multiple pools. The spa — the largest in Portugal — pays tribute to Laurissilva, Madeira’s UNESCO-listed laurel forest. Dining spans multiple restaurants and bars, with a generous breakfast buffet showcasing local cheeses, smoked fish, fresh fruits and made-to-order eggs; standout venues include a 16th-floor Galáxia for contemporary dishes with spectacular views, Alameda for fish at lunch, and Nikkei for upscale Pan‑Asian cuisine. A new hotel-within-a-hotel concept called The Reserve provides a hyper-upscale experience with amenities such as a personal assistant, and the property can arrange unique moments like breakfast above the clouds on one of the island’s highest peaks. Practical perks when booking may include upgrade on arrival (subject to availability), daily breakfast, a food & beverage credit, early check-in/late-check-out options and complimentary Wi‑Fi, and the beach is just a short walk away."

Savoy Palace Funchal is one of Madeira’s most impressive hotels – a place where every detail felt thoughtfully crafted. Our room was spacious, elegant, and offered breathtaking views of the Atlantic. The service was exceptionally warm and attentive, as if the staff anticipated our needs before we even asked. Breakfast was a highlight: fresh flavors, a generous selection, and beautifully presented dishes. The pool areas were serene and luxurious, and the spa ranked among the best on the island. The hotel blended modern sophistication with genuine hospitality, making our stay from 15–22 December 2025 truly unforgettable. A flawless choice for anyone seeking indulgence and relaxa

One of the best holiday resorts ever. Excelent location as there are multiple restaurants on the street behind and next to the hotel, also multiple bars on the street behind the hotel, walking distance from harbour and city center. Calm atmosphere all around in the hotel site, always free sun beds, no hazzle by the pool. Soundproofed rooms. Good qym. Great breakfest with omelets and egg benedic etc. Will come again and would absolutely recommend.

Pay no attention to the negative reviews. This hotel deserves all 5 stars. Beautiful spacious rooms, friendly staff that goes above and beyond, housekeeping was spectacular and left extra waters without asking, the breakfast and all food was delicious, the spa is an absolute dream (you must book a service while here or you’re doing yourself a disservice), the pool is clean and large with plenty of chairs for everyone, and I HIGHLY recommend making a reservation at the Galaxia restaurant which we did on a Friday night with no problem. The cost for everything was exceptionally low compared to similar properties. We mentioned we were celebrating a birthday and they left us a thoughtful surprise in the room while we were at breakfast. Even the masseuse wished me a happy birthday. Seriously, no detail goes unnoticed here. I would absolutely stay again and cannot recommend this place enough. My only note is that the hotel is EXTREMELY hot. You can control the temperature in your room, but anytime we left the room we would immediately start sweating and hair gets poofy from the humidity inside the hotel. I wish they’d turn the AC on when it’s so hot out, but I understand why they don’t. It is a small nit-picky remark and does not negate from the 5-star experience of this hotel. I can’t wait to come back!

Excellent and very clean hotel, which i can fully recommend for a luxury stay in Madeira, Funchal, just 12 min away from the city center of Funchal by foot. Breakfast is very nice, they have multiple entertainment options every evening and i loved the piano playing at 6 pm at the lobby. Parking is also perfect in the garage. So I cant say anything negative about this hotel. Fully recommended!

One of the most memorable vacations we have taken! The moment you arrive to your departure you will feel relaxed in such an inviting atmosphere. First the staff, every person we came in contact with, was friendly and welcoming. They truly make this a world class experience! The resort is beautiful and views are spectacular especially from the rooftop terraces. The room was spacious and balcony was a great place to watch cruise ships coming in and sunrise/sunset over the ocean. The resort and room were spotless. The restaurants, bars, and room services were delish. The hotel’s location was perfect for all the Funchal and entire island adventures. We can’t wait to come back!

Our room was clean and well appointed with a lovely balcony overlooking the pool and grounds. The breakfast buffet was exceptional and we were treated to a tour and explanation of all the different foods available. A pleasant lobby bar with great views of the grounds and special service. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Five star hotel , there star service.|We arrived on Monday 17.11 in the early evening. The next morning 18.11 there was still a lot of water on the shower floor. I went to the reception on Tuesday morning 18.11. And on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. I met the hotel maintenance man near our room, I asked if he could come and take a look. He didn't. I also called someone apparently related to your sales. So on four different days in a row I went to the reception. It took until Saturday before things started to progress in the desired direction. We were already almost halfway through our 14-day holiday. I asked for information on the progress of the matter, I didn't get it. No apology, just empty phrases. Not to mention compensation.|Very friendly, and a smile was enough. But nothing happens.

I booked the Family Two-Bedroom Suite from October 20th to 26th, 2025 (confirmation number: 7990SF065305) for our company’s CEO and his family during their vacation. He is a regular visitor to Madeira, but this time he came for a short family trip with his wife and two children. Unfortunately, the overall experience at the hotel was disappointing. Except for two staff members — Mr. Filipe Bettencourt and Mr. Gurash Devkota, who were professional and helpful — the rest of the staff were unhelpful, disrespectful, and lacked proper hospitality. The property is not family- or child-friendly. We tried twice to arrange dinner in the hotel’s restaurants during their stay, but both times we were told they were fully booked, even for hotel guests. Although breakfast was included in the reservation, they were asked every morning whether it was part of their booking, which was inconvenient. There were no complimentary bottles of water in the suite after the first day. Housekeeping service was also poor — the rooms were not properly cleaned daily, and trash remained there for days. Additionally, access to the swimming pool area and even the use of sunbeds required extra payment, which was unexpected for a hotel of this category. Overall, the management and guest treatment need serious improvement. I would not recommend this hotel for families, as they are likely to be disappointed with the service and hospitality. The experience does not justify the price, especially considering the poor service and lack of guest care.
