"Chess, Coffee, and a Sightseeing Cafe Do you enjoy any of the following: people watching, chess, great coffee, food and wine? Then SAVOY is the place you’ve been dreaming of. On the Plaza Orense in Pontevedra is the recently renovated two storied cafe. Everything about this spot is perfect; one of my favorites being the outdoor terrace that has weekly concerts and the floor to ceiling wall of windows in the upstairs lounge. Two tables are actually chessboards, and you can borrow the pieces from the bar downstairs. The coffee is always fresh and comes with a cookie or cakelike tapa, the wine is very well priced and offers a wide range of selections for even the most discriminating palate. One of the greatest experiences in Pontevedra. Alberto was superb in service and attention. If the food was Batman, then Alberto was Robin! Every dish was exquisitely made, every bite was special and unique, but if I have to pick a winner, the Dorada Ceviche was supremely good. The Scallop salad was excellent as well, along with the Tempura prawns. The steak was really tasty and perfectly cooked. Overall, this place is a must visit. Thank you, Savoy! We are definitely coming back!!!!

We stopped here for lunch when we arrived in Pontevedra and were not disappointed. We were soaking wet as we had just walked 11 miles in the rain on The Camino, but the staff treated us like we were dressed to the 9’s. The service was impeccable and the food absolutely delicious. We shared a cold plate which consisted of veggies mixed with this incredible sauce and langostinos. Then we each had their version of lasagna and that was out of this world. If you’re in Pontevedra as pilgrim or as a tourist, go to Savoy! You will not be disappointed.

Wow. Right on the square where trade might be easy and some places wouldn’t make an effort but here the food and service is excellent quality. Delicious warm scallop salad with mango salsa! Generous and well presented. Great location and atmosphere. Highly recommend!

Fantastic views from the upstairs dinning room. The food is fresh, well balanced, and delicious. The veranda is great for drinks at any time.

Nice place to seat and to drink some wine. We went during the day, just to rest a little bit and appreciate the square and people walking...

We had a nice, helpful waiter who was very welcoming. But the food was underwhelming here, sadly. The fish offered on the menu del dia was full of bones and was flavorless. The wine offered by the glass was delicious and the lentils were good.

What looked like a nice little place was badly let down by one very poor waiter who brought us the wrong drinks (more expensive ones) and refused to admit his mistake or to change the order. I had to go into the bar and fortunately spoke to a helpful and pleasant young woman who acknowledged the mistake and put it right. But this was not before the bad waiter shouted at me for my poor Spanish and expecting him to speak English (I always try to speak as much Spanish as possible so was quite insulted). He then banged the drinks we'd ordered on our table and refused to come anywhere near us again. All-in-all a very unpleasant experience and I will not be returning as long as this individual is still there.
