Considering the amount of money we paid to stay two nights at this establishment - we were expecting exceptional. What we received? Sub par. And the spa? Oof. I’ve had better massages at the local Hand and Stone in our hometown, for hundreds less. The spa not only charges WAY too much for massages, they hit you with a “$100 service charge” that the front desk staff can’t quite explain. The Womens locker room area had three showers that barely worked, and the entire area had an off putting aroma, similar to that of being in a moisture ridden basement. Everything was incredibly outdated and in dire need of renovation. For perspective if curious, my husband and I spent $650 for 1 mani, 1 pedi, and 2 50 minute massages. Caveat - The mani/pedi services however were phenomenal and reasonably priced. Veronica and Elizabeth are outstanding!
The hotel experience was lackluster at best. Upon checkin, the front desk receptionist seemed annoyed to be helping us. The room seemed to have AC problems and was very muggy and humid throughout the stay. The bathroom didn’t have a fan. Zero water pressure in shower. Roach in shower on second day. Toilet clogged. Parking cost $22 per night, I’m not talking about valet service. I’m talking about the old fashioned, do it yourself, park down the hill in the parking lot. The internet was also not complimentary. It was $12-20 a day depending on which package you wanted. The in-house Starbucks coffee was decent, however the fruit we got from it was covered in mold.
The best part of the trip was the round of golf we played at the players stadium course, the hospitality, conditions, and overall experience was immaculate. Despite the cost per round, we will absolutely play there again bc of the incredible experience of every facet of the stadium course. From every staff member, to the food, course conditions, clubhouse, you name it - top notch.
Will we stay at the Marriott or go to the spa when we play? Absolutely not. Not trying to complain, just preparing any future folks who are middle class people and want an awesome vacation experience. We learned that each property (spa, Marriott, golf course) are all different management, which makes sense. During our stay we received the same feedback about the Marriott and spa from other guests, as well as a handful of staff members. Disappointing, but lesson learned.
Hope this review helps the next family looking to stay here.
