Scallion Ajijic Bistro

Scallions is well known to the expat and immigrant community. Does that make it good? Not always, but in this instance it does! Service from the start was friendly and efficient. We were there for an early breakfast. Not crowded if you get here at 9am on a Sunday. They served a mini-loaf of bread with butter and jam with our meal. Warm and tasty! We had Mexican coffee's also that were perfect for a cool January morning. I had a veggie omelet "From the Woods". My spouse had the Bagel and Lox. My omelet was very well done. With mushrooms, onion, spinach and cheese. Very full of flavor! It was the perfect size and paired with the potatoes, made a great meal to start the day. The Bagel and Lox came with a giant bagel. The salmon was fresh tasting, and with the capers, tomato, cream cheese and onions completed the meal just as expected! They were both delicious. This breakfast was very good, and its made us definitely ready to have a dinner here soon!

Sunday all-you-can-eat buffet $160 pesos per person, was quite good! Worth it. 8:30am until 1pm. Other reviewers who didn't like it: I wonder if they went late and perhaps the restaurant was already winding down? We went at 10:30 and everything was still abundantly available. Food tasted good. Service was frequent and courteous. Atmosphere (if sitting outside) was nice. We've also been there for regular dinner menu and thoroughly enjoyed the food. Price was reasonable for a decently nice environment like this.

Last night we met up with some friends and had dinner at Scallion Ajijic Bistro . We arrived just before the rain. It was our 1st time there. We were greeted by Gabriel(hopefully spelled correctly) which was our waiter. They were really having to shuffle everyone from outside to inside with the heavy rains. I had the Fried Calamari which was perfectly cooked with a nice Thai dipping sauce. Mom had the General Tso Shrimp which was delicious. Shrimp were a nice size, fried crisp and coated with a tangy General Tso style sauce. I had a a few bites and it was really good(obviously I'd like it spicier). I had the chicken Marsala. The chicken breast were very tender and well seasoned. I really enjoyed the red cabbage with this dish. The mushrooms and sauce were very well done but for me I'd like a little more of a Marsala flavor so a little more wine(That's just my preference). One of our friends got a pizza and it looked amazing, well cooked with a good sauce to crust ratio. All of the food came out timely even though there was alot going on with the rain. It was obvious that the team was well managed. Plates were decorative and attractive as well as the staff. I thought the pricing was also pretty good as I had multiple Cadillac Margaritas and shots, 2 of us had appetizers, and dinner for 4 was under 1900pesos. We would definitely go back and recommend.

The menu is the size of a phonebook which tells you they are experts at nothing! Everything is poorly made, too salty, I had a lasagna and the pasta was like soft rubber. Cheap products. They need to find a few items they are good at and perfect them.

Oddly the best Chinese lakeside. Kung Pow beef is awesome! ( and try the cream of mushroom soup). Love this place!

We love this place! Great food, great service, great prices. What's not to love!? Entertainment on the weekends is fun too, friendly crowd.

Excellent, eclectic dinner venue. From Italian food, to steaks, and even Thai green curry dishes, Scallions' menu is a mixed bag of deliciousness catering to a wide variety of palates. Service is welcoming and efficient, and the atmosphere is warm and friendly.

Warm, friendly staff. Drinks on point. Your life is not complete until you've had the coq au vin. 5 stars!!!
