The rooms were very clean, and updated but the walls are very thin. For three nights, I was woken frequently by the individual next door watching tv, talking on the phone and snoring/snorting throughout the night. The WiFi was down for the five days I was here and I was told by the staff that it had been down since the week before. Without WiFi it was very difficult to check the bus schedules and update my travel plans. Luckily some of the restaurants in Lerwick had WiFi. The staff was very nice and helpful and had good suggestions on what else to see, where to eat and how the bus schedule worked. The food at the restaurant was ok. I was very disappointed in their coronation chicken. The recipes vary a little but at the Scalloway Hotel there was little, if any, curry flavor, although the chicken had the color of curry. Unfortunately, It also had a gooey texture to it. Two bites and I was done. When the server asked me if I had enjoyed my meal and I said “no”, she didn’t care, so why bother asking.
