Was upgraded to a room with great view of water. It was lovely staying here. Wednesday parmi special is absolutely perfect. Portion was generous and yum! Restaurant and bar was very much alive even we are coming in the off season. Overall it was a great stay.

Myself and some friends decided to have lunch here with our children. The location is lovely and we were discussing making lunch here a regular thing. Unfortunately the food took 45 minutes to arrive despite us being the only group eating at the hotel at the time. Some of the meals were cold when they arrived. Then when we were leaving (carrying our small children) seagulls started to steal leftovers from our table outside on the balcony. A staff member stormed out and began clearing the table, my friend spoke to her child about the birds taking food from the table and the staff member rudely and agressively commented 'Well, what do you expect when you leave it out here? You are literally going inside.' Insinuating, I assume, that he expected us to clear our own table. Something that I have never experienced at a table service venue. He also muttered other profanities towards us under his breath. 0 stars, would not recommend, definitely not worth the price when accompanied by verbal abuse and poor service.

Just returned from a one night stay . We were a group of nine.( 6 rooms) Dinner was had in the resort dining room. Excellent value. Staff were fantastic and genuinely seemed invested in the place. Food was great. Really impressed and keen for the next stay.

Having stayed at Scamander Hotel quite a bit in the last few weeks, I have found the staff to be very good and extremely friendly. The accommodation is perfect for what we’re after. The food is absolutely beautiful, can’t fault this place at all. Plus a bonus that the hotel is dog friendly 🐶

This hotel has a decent location and that’s a great benefit but that’s pretty much where it stops. The staff at reception are dismissive and not very helpful at all. The rooms are not equipped with the most basic amenity of a microwave. The bathrooms have no ventilation, in addition to being very tiny. Not sure if this is because we were given the worst room or if this is the standard for all rooms. Our room didn’t have the promised “seaside view” either. The restaurant serves no breakfast and even if you adhere to the timing of the restaurant and bar, you still need to make sure you have a prior booking to get a seat. We were travelling from Melbourne and were unable to secure a spot despite staying there overnight. We had ready to heat and eat meals which the staff refused to heat in the kitchen microwave based on the grounds of “food safety” but the meals were to be heated in packaging. Overall we were rather unimpressed. The staff was far more interested in serving their regular customers as opposed to any new visitors. This is amazing ofcourse, but not if you’re travelling and already at a disadvantage of not knowing any food places. If you can, we would recommend steering clear of this property. We would highly recommend staying at Surfside Beaumaris which is right next door. They have 10 rooms. Not sure of how the rooms there are, but the owner helped us out with an after hours pizza when we couldn’t find any food at 8:45pm.we are certain that his rooms have microwaves at the very least. Hope this helps!

Whilst parts of this establishment are a little dated, our room appeared recently renovated. We could not fault our room, service by staff, or the service and evening meal we had in the restaurant. Great location right in front of the beach. Certainly a value for money stay.

Nice refurbished room. Excellent value for money. Great central location. Would definitely stay here again. Bar and bistro also nice spaces and reasonably priced. All staff we encountered were lovely.

Amazing locale. The room we stayed in, the carpets were falling apart and had visible mold along the edge near the door. The bathroom was a bit "how's it going" also. The bistro food... the one thing on their menu I was keen to eat wasnt available on the day I stayed, and the alternative from the chef's special, was sold out within an hour or service starting.... So I just skipped it, and sat with a glass of water while my partner ate. She said it was ok, no complaints with her meal Could be a great place with some investment and TLC. Some slapdash repairs have been done, with someone very obviously using black latex paint slapped over old blue paint in places . Staff were amazing, friendly, courteous and helpful! The locale is 10/10 though. For the price of $100 a night, it's middle of the road. 3/5
