My wife and I stayed at this hotel for two nights recently while on a tour of Scandinavia. I would describe the hotel as a business class hotel that catered to tours. The hotel is very well located in the heart of Alta, with a shopping mall just across the walkway that has eateries and a grocery store in it, among other stores. There were a number of other tour groups at the hotel while we were there, and they seemed to handle this well. The buffet breakfast had a wide variety of foods that were well prepared. A couple of minor things we thought could be improved. One is that while it was nice the hotel had a washer and dryer that could be used for free, there was only one. There were many, many people wanting to use these machines. As such, my wife and I did one load of laundry and wanted to hang the clothes in our room to dry. Unfortunately, we only had three hangers. The hotel had no extra hangers. We talked with other guests and some of them had only two hangers in their rooms. For the cost of a few more hangers, this seems a bit absurd.

We had stayed at the Scandic Alta a few years ago with an organized travel group and quite liked it back then.|But this time, as a couple, we were very disappointed - the "Standard" room unfortunately really is just a shoebox - no space, no comfort at all. And unfortunately, other than going for a suite, there are no better room categories available.|The hotel per se, the breakfast, and staff - all top notch - but calling this "closet" a "Standard room" is a stretch....

Room. The room was adequate in size. Had wooden floors but was quite basic. There was no tea or coffee making facilities. Even in basic motels in most countries you have these. Indeed in every other Scandic we have stayed at these have been available. It must be questioned why? There was a refrigerator in the room which was dirty which questions housekeeping. The room was also fairly dusty when looked at closely. ||Wifi. This worked really well. ||Public areas. These were light and airy. Seemed quite busy. Two entrances to hotel, one from the back which is not obviously visible to reception. ||Food service. Described by reception as a la carte. In reality was same menu as at other Scandics. Better and cheaper options available nearby. Breakfast buffet was busy but decent choice. ||Reception. These are the first port of call and give a first impression. Generally efficient but not overly warm in greeting.||Car Park. It is questionable why a hotel in what is basically a small town needs to charge guests to park. ||Would I recommend this hotel, Unfortunately no until basics such as free car park and tea and coffee in the room are provided.

We spent a few days at the Scandic in Alta. Our room was big, pretty new decorated and had a really nice decorated wall. The beds were new too, big and comfortable, nothing to complain here. They serve a very good breakfast too. We liked the staff working at the reception, which always was in a good mood.

Some of the worst customer service I have had at a hotel anywhere. The desk staff are slow and inefficient and don’t seem interested in helping customers. They seem rude, arrogant and lazy and their systems are inefficient. Are all Norwegians like this? Rooms are basic and don’t have fridges or kettles, hotels in third world countries with 2 stars are far superior to this one. Room was also very noisey making sleeping difficult. Would not recommend and will suggest to the company I booked through not to use this one.

We stayed in the hotel for 2 nights. We checked in at ~6pm. The bath room had a terrible smell, also the room did not include a fridge however the majority people in our traveling group had fridges in their rooms. Also the room did not have tea facilities, no cups and a kettle. On my request to the reception to change the room to another one with a fridge I was refused. The hotel manager had already left.

As part of a vacation tour, we stayed two nights in a standard room. The beds were comfortable and room was a good size for two persons. Hot water was plentiful and curtains did block out light. Not sure of the star rating but i would rAte as a 3star with no tea or coffee in rooms,no safe as advertised, no wine glasses, no tissues or other conveniences in bathroom. Some do not have fridges. Breakfast was well presented and ample selection with good coffee. Reception does not have lounge are and bar not available until 6 pm. Average stay with average accomodation.

Pet friendly room was really expensive and you had to pay extra fee for the dog. The quality of the room was quite poor - felt that we were given a second grade room since we had a dog with us. There were no bowls for the dog, no bathroom floor mat, no lock on the bathroom door, no tissues, furnitures were old and stained and the room itself wasn’t cozy at all. Fortunatelly the room was clean and shower was good. The staff was really nice and the location is good. Breakfast was really good, even the glutenfree was great! Still 210€/night is way too much for this kind of a hotel room.

Yelp
Very nice hotel. It's located right in the heart of things. Close to good restaurants (like Erica's). The front desk staff are very helpful and nice. The bar is nice and intimate over in the corner of the lobby. Rooms are nicely appointed. We had a business class room so it had a hot water kettle and tea in it. Which is always a bonus! I'd highly recommend staying here.

Yelp
Nice service and a few select Items on the menu. With a fantastic view of the Cathedral.
