In general, this is a good hotel. Great location. If you come from the airport by bus, the bus stop is right in front of the hotel. Good breakfast and friendly staff overall. The main drawback for me is the noise transfer from the nearby rooms which is shockingly bad for a seemingly modern building. The typical door slamming and heavy-footed thuding can be heard from the rooms above and nextdoor. But the worst part is that I could also hear the luggage clasps clicking sound or the shirt hangers clinking sound from the nextdoor! This doesn't help when the nextdoor wakes up at 5 a.m. when you're still in bed but getting startled by these domestic sounds (and yes, including the luggage being dumped on the floor and the typical thudding & slamming etc.). Although I could put on the earplugs, but I shouldn't have to, given the expectations from a modern building like this. Having said all this, it's the fault of the building quality and my luck whether I would be placed next to a "noisy" guest or not. However, you might not be as sensitive to the noise as I am. The last point, despite I have an elite status and I visited in Jan (which is supposedly a low-season, so the hotel shouldn't be fully occupied) I was allocated a room that faces the other "wing" of the hotel, instead of an outside view. So, that wasn't the best experience as a loyal customer.

It’s a very good and cozy hotel where I stayed during my visit in Trondheim. The hotel itself is peaceful, cozy, and warm. The breakfast is amazing, having the smoked salmon, Norwegian cheese (yellow one and brunost, the sweet brown one), and flat crispy bread was amazing. The restaurant for breakfast itself has a nice view of Nidelva river. The only minor setback? The hallway is sometimes darkened, but the motion sensor will turn the light on again when you move. There are snacks and travel kits on the lounge. The staffs are kind and helpful. The hotel is very close to 2 bus stops Bakkegata (2 ways) that can take you straight to Vaernes Airport (buy the ticket online). The hotel is also within a walking distance to the city center of Trondheim and spots like Nidarosdomen Cathedral. For the housekeeping, if you stay long, you can notify the staff at the reception desk to either make up the room daily or every two days.

Very good hotel. The rooms are well sized, clean, comfortable beds and well taken care of. The breakfast is nice, with a wide selection of items, and the breakfast area is an internal atrium with views out over the river. The hotel is very well located so you can walk in to the center of the town, or out around the harbor area. An added bonus is that the airport shuttle bus stops right outside the hotel. The staff are really nice and friendly too.

We slept so well and everything was excellent. Seniors get a discount so don't forget to ask for it.The breakfasts are excellent. There is a grocery store at the corner so that things for lunch and a light dinner can be acquired there. There is a hamburger place down the street and also down the street is an excellent gluten free restaurant. Don't forget to bring wash clothes as they are not found in most hotels in Europe these days.

Booked a standard room with a king size bed. Was given a room with a 140cm bed with the only window facing into the breakfast hall. The temperature couldn’t be adjusted, and there was no chromecast iin the TV. Also there isn’t a restaurant in the hotell, and the garage was to low for my car which meant I had to use the very expensive normal street parking.

Excellent breakfast. Location could be better vs. others we've stayed in Norway; room can be overpriced based on what you get, and when you travel.

Spent four nights in this nice hotel. The service was really friendly. I had a nice room and really enjoyed the breakfast.

What a great location! We walked easily to the “Gamle Bybroen”, the Nideros Cathedral, central plaza and dined in Bakklandet. Walked up to the fortress too. I loved all the outlets for charging our electronic gadgets. I am older so I have a Cpap machine, need charge hearing aids, 2 iPhones, battery and iPads. No problem here!!! Rooms were very nice, staff efficient and friendly and the hotel provides an amazing Norwegian buffet.

Yelp
A top-notch hotel for Norwegian standards. Great service, and the hotel itself was stylish with all the interior finesse that you would expect from this type of hotel, also considering the fact that it is less than two years old. The breakfast was wonderful, and it included hot food items upon order, fresh pressed juice directly from a machine, and a beautiful view of river Nidelva. My room was very small though, to my opinion too tiny for a Standard, as this room was defined as. Also the bed was very small for a queen, which we do not like. As my dreams when sleeping often tend to be something close to scenes from well-know spy movies etc, I have a hard time lying still. Which obviously makes it a challenge to actually stay in a bed that fails to meet the expected standards with regards to size. I will definitely come back, but will make sure to book a bigger room, and request a larger bed!

Yelp
The once venerable Rica Bakklandet now under new management has been on a downhill slide since the Scandic takeover. Little things changed pretty quickly like soap in the bathrooms and the signage, but now the quality of the facilities and services has been directly impacted. The rooms have always been modest affairs. My pillow actually felt lumpy like it had been filled with cotton balls and the towels are now in need of repairs. No facial tissues, and the electric tea kettle has been removed from all rooms. However, the real reason you stay here is the breakfast buffet, always a little less awesome that the legendary Nidelven location, which has also taken a bit of hit. Coffee at this location was never good, but that was OK because they always had the fresh orange juice machine. The machine was out of oranges I'm told, let's hope it wasn't deemed too costly by management and will soon disappear entirely. The scrambled eggs were watery. Eww. Really, this is a study in how cost considerations can kill the reason why customers come back to a location and ultimately make you start wondering if every defect isn't some new policy handed down to cut cost and maximize profit. New customers, or one-offs will never know, but I do.
